Nothing beats the pleasure of eating outdoors where sunshine and blue skies are guaranteed to bring the taste of summer to even the most basic food. The secret of a good picnic - great ingredients simply prepared - is revealed in this delightful collection. Want something fresh-tasting that is also easy to pack and transport? Try Zucchini, Feta, and Mint Salad. For a refreshing twist on an old favourite, try Bagels with Smoked Salmon and Wasabi Cream. Pepper 'n' Spice Chicken or Mini Pork and Apple Pies are perfect entrees, but don't forget the all important sweet try Fudge Brownies or Pear Gingerbread.
I love the Great British Baking Show which is why I checked out this book by Linda Collister from the library. The photography is beautiful, and I love the props of wicker baskets, straw and canvas satchels, blankets, fresh flowers, imprinted wood crates, cutlery, ceramic crocks, jelly jars and all manner of cute accoutrements. I also took two simple recipes from this book: zucchini, feta, and mint salad; and pan bagnat. I'm looking forward to eating delicious and easy-to-make picnic fare this summer.
