After Poseidon brought him back from the Fade and gave him his old job back as a Poseidon operative, Auric Argento thought his life couldn’t get any better. He should have read the fine print. No longer would he be a hetero, skirt-chasing merman. He was now a day-walking vampire partnered with a Norseman named Thoralf Lokken. And Lokken was so not onboard with being a walking blood donor. In fact, the Viking was one step away from a PTSD meltdown. So maybe telling him they’d accidentally been blood-bound during their first feeding wouldn’t be wise.
Even their first assignment was whacked. They needed to find out why a rising Welsh singer was cooperating with a Mexican drug cartel, and why, whenever anyone touched the singer’s blue dragon tattoo, a Star Wars-worthy holograph of a beautiful woman appeared. The Welshman appeared human, but appearances could be deceiving.
With the mission and his partnership going south, Auric knows it’s time to throw in his cards and return to the Fade. Step Find a sharp stake and hand it to his enraged partner after confessing to the accidental bonding. Step Whisper the three words he’d wanted to say to Thoralf since the first time they’d met. Yep, mission accomplished, a one-way flight back to the Fade.
