About the author

Ingrid Weaver

Weaver was born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. She has a degree in English literature. After her youngest child entered school in 1989 she began writing in the hopes that she could build a career that would allow her to work from home. None of her first eight manuscripts sold, but in July 1993 her ninth, True Blue, was purchased by Silhouette Books.

Generally Weaver writes two to three novels per year, taking up to five months to finish each work. The novels are most often classified as romantic suspense, and the protagonists are put into life-or-death situations in order more clearly reveal their true characters and feelings. In many of her novels, the hero is either connected to law enforcement or the military. Weaver also enjoys including animals in her stories "because they're usually excellent judges of character."

Weaver was awarded a Romance Writers of America RITA Award in 1998 for Best Romantic Suspense for her novel On the Way to a Wedding.[3] She is also a recipient of the Romantic Times Career Achievement Award.

Loved this sweet story. I just finished it for the fourth time and this was my absolute favorite time through. A great story-line and the MCs were fantastic. Who doesn't love a man who not only delivered her baby when the ambulance didn't make it on time but also loves that woman's child even though another man fathered it!!!

Del is a secret agent who is on a high risk stakeout. Maggie is a pregnant waitress who is alone and on her own after discovering her boyfriend had lied to her and was actually married with children.

The restaurant where Maggie works is close to Del's stakeout and they become acquainted when he begins having lunch regularly at one of Maggie's tables. One day while ordering his lunch Maggie goes into labor and he delivers her baby girl in the back room. A bond is formed between the three but Del is only in town for the case he is working on and will be leaving soon.

Maggie knows a relationship is hopeless since Del will be gone soon, but she wants to spend as much time as possible with him. He is already under her skin and she doesn't want to let him go but has no other choice.

I highly recommend this book.
It is a safe read, with no cheating and just a tiny bit of OM drama but he is quickly out of the picture.

4.5 stars. So so good. I’m glad I gave this one a try, all thanks to a friend who rated it highly. It really is such a sweet story. I loved both of the MCs and their love for each other. The storyline, the pace, the angst… everything was just right. No complaints from me, I just wish there was a longer epilogue.

Safe; heroine is pregnant with OM’s child when she and hero meet. He delivers her baby and they become friends. There’s no OW drama, some OM drama from heroine’s ex (who is married with kids btw). No cheating between H&h, no scenes with OM/OW.

TW: pregnancy, infertility, violence, some gore.
