Two years ago, Charlotte Quinn fell hard for handsome, brooding Lucian Harris through letter writing. But after months of baring their souls, he cut ties, with no explanation. Now, in 1968, Charlotte still can’t get Lucian out of her head.
Lucian, a lonely recluse, holed up in his Victorian mansion, is guarding a dark secret that is gnawing at his sanity. He craves love and companionship, but keeps everyone at arm’s length. Not even the lovely Charlotte, he believes, could bear learning of his unthinkable past.
Charlotte travels across the country to look for Lucian and see if his feelings still mirror hers. Reluctantly, she stays in an infamous haunted hotel, in the wintery old mining town of Windfall, Colorado, where Lucian grew up. Will he still be the same man she fell for two years prior? Will his heart still be hers?
Told in dual perspectives, Everywhere, Everywhere grapples with the meaning of life and its joys and agonies and the mysteries of death.
Author of contemporary and fantasy YA, Juliette was born in Idaho but grew up all over, including overseas. She's wanted to be a writer since she was twelve, around the time when she won The Young Author's Award in sixth grade. In addition to writing, she loves reading, painting, travel, dogs AND cats (you really don't have to choose), exotic foods and indie and alternative music. She's written six books: When the Sun Kisses the Moon; Everywhere, Everywhere; Gone Away Girl; Finding Home; Pictures of You; and An ABC Book for the Despairing, Disheartened & Depressed.
What should a good book do? First, it should make you forget the reality. Second, it must transport you to a different one and keep you there while you read.
“Everywhere, Everywhere” by Juliette Caron ticks both these boxes effortlessly.
Lately, I’ve turned back into a ‘before bedtime’ reader. There simply aren’t enough hours in a day. So, I try to choose the books that can put my mind off things while providing me with food for thought. It isn’t an easy task since ‘serious’ books tend to overdo it with seriousness. At the same time, ‘easy’ reads are usually too easy for me to even get into the story.
“Everywhere, Everywhere” is a perfect combination of both. It is an easy read that makes you turn the pages, dance with the main character at the masquerade ball, drive with her in her brand new ‘Mustang’ received as a school graduation present, and explore the quirky town that attracts tourists with its reputation of being haunted. On the other hand, the story delves into exploring human character. It tackles the issues of people’s behaviour, their motives, as well as dealing with grief.
Charlotte and Lucian believe no one knows them better than they know each other. They share every secret, every disturbing thought and every controversial concept that comes to their mind with each other. Charlotte and Lucian are in love – even though they have never met.
When Lucian, a young man she fell in love through letters, breaks up with her, Charlotte grabs at the first opportunity to drive to spooky Windfall in Colorado where he lives to find out the reason why or at least a closure. What she finds there, is very far from what she – and I’m sure the readers! – has expected. Determined to untangle the tight knot of mysteries and secrets Lucian has shrouded himself in, Charlotte checks in at the hotel where human occupants aren’t the only guests.
“Everywhere, Everywhere” is a beautiful, unusual love story that will change your perception of a happy-ever-after ending.
“Everywhere, Everywhere” by Juliette Caron is an enchanting blend of romance, mystery, and the supernatural that sweeps you into an atmospheric world. There’s a story here that’s as eerie as it is tender, introducing Charlotte, a young woman who has fallen in love with a man she has never met, Lucian. They forged their connection through soul-baring letters—letters that came to an abrupt stop without explanation. Now, unable to shake her feelings or accept the silence, Charlotte travels to the town of Windfall, Colorado, to seek answers.
The novel charmingly balances the chilling with the heartwarming. Charlotte’s journey through Windfall takes her to a haunted hotel and into Lucian's tangled past. She discovers that both the town and Lucian himself are haunted in very different ways, setting the stage for a unique love story. The writing touches on subjects of life and death, love and grief; offering us haunting but intriguing moments.
Told from alternating perspectives, the book allows for a deep connection with both Charlotte and Lucian, uncovering their fears, dreams, and the profound connection that binds them. The storytelling brings Windfall’s quirky, ghostly charm to life. Lucian’s turmoil and Charlotte’s determination to understand him add layers of tension that kept me turning the pages, all the way to the story’s unexpected and satisfying conclusion.
A perfect read for those who enjoy love stories laced with mystery and a touch of the supernatural. Like me!
I really enjoyed this page turner that has a bit of everything - the supernatural, questions about the meaning of life and death, romance and finding your soulmate, questions of guilt and forgiving yourself, and coming to age all wrapped together in an enjoyable plot with a likeable, strong main character who believes in love and redemption. I kept trying to guess what happened to Lucian and why he was acting out against Charlotte, but I kept guessing wrong (which I liked as I don't like predictable books) and loved how Caron wrapped up the ending. Love this book so much that I got the hard copy to add to my collection of books to reread down the road. Hope this is made into a movie someday!
I also love the book cover! Very original and artsy! The fact that the author is also a painter (who did the book cover) shows Juliette's talent!! It also brings more authenticity to Lucian painting in the book, and the feelings it evokes, knowing Juliette puts her brush to the canvas on paintings that make you feel, just like her books.
A tale of life, love, lust and longing, 'Everywhere Everywhere' by Juliet Caron will tug at your heartstrings and leave you, like Charlotte, seeing the good in everything.
A romance with a touch of the supernatural, 'Everywhere Everywhere' follows Charlotte as she journeys to meet Lucian, the love of her life whom she has never met, and who she soon discovers is now a recluse withdrawn from his community. They exchanged letters for months and then he cut her off without explanation and Charlotte, not being able to free herself of him, sets off in search of answers. I won't reveal the specifics, but tortured souls and self-loathing and poetic pining and doubt and tragedy and forgiveness all appear at some point along Charlotte and Lucian's journeys towards each other.
The metaphor of ghosts and how we linger in each other's lives even when we have gone is well used, and the attraction between the two leads comes across very clearly. This is a quick read and I'm sure that anyone who enjoys poetic, passionate romance will enjoy this book!
I love Gothic tales and character-driven stories, and this book combines those things in such a sweet and endearing way. It actually felt like a very cozy story to me even though all the elements of the traditional Gothic tale are there--spooky ghosts, tortured mmc, haunted mansion/town. Part of this has to do with Caron's excellent character-building skills--the main characters feel so real and relatable in their interests and communications with one another. And part of this is just the way that she injects lightness into the text even in dark moments.
At the start of the story, the two main characters have never met in person before, but you can feel such a genuine connection between them through the letters that they had exchanged previously (which are spread throughout the text). Perhaps because I enjoy philosophy and think letter writing is about the most romantic thing you can do, their cerebral connection was a refreshing change of pace from reading romances that are based more on physicality. I loved their romance and loved the twist ending! :)
A spooky, tender love story with a fantastically creepy twist, Everywhere, Everywhere tells the love story of Charlotte and Lucien. After exchanging gushing letters without having ever met, Charlotte finds the courage to seek out Lucien in person, only to find him reclusive, combative, and utterly different than the open-hearted paramour of his letters. Discovering why forms the center of this brisk, poetic novel that switches perspectives between Charlotte and Lucien.
A quick read with a big heart and some eerie atmosphere and supernatural touches, this will be a good fit for anyone who likes their love stories served with a side of goosebumps.
🏚️ Girl and Boy write each other letters. Friendship first, then looovee. 🏚️ Boy ghosts Girl. Her letters go unanswered. 🏚️ She travels to his beautiful and strange hometown in the Colorado mountains. 🏚️ She stays in a haunted hotel! 👻 🏚️ Boy is haunted, too, but in a different way.
In “Everywhere, Everywhere,” we ride along with Charlotte to figure out why the handsome Lucien has cut off their relationship with no explanation. Because, why? He must have a good reason. 🤔
I was totally invested in figuring out Lucien’s reasons, and Charlotte’s too. For a spooky and atmospheric read, check out “Everywhere, Everywhere”
If you're a fan of ghosts, a Gothic mansion housing a brooding Beast-like love interest, and a love that crosses all borders, read THIS BOOK by Juliette Caron
Charlotte fell madly in love with Lucian without ever having seen him. How? Through the letters in which they bare their souls to each other. Then without an explanation, he cut ties.
Two years later, Charlotte decides to cross the country and seek out her long lost love. What awaits her is a tale of woe which threatens to smash the already broken pieces of her heart and to plunge them both down an irrevocable road.
Juliette's writing is delicate yet poignant befitting the whole atmosphere of the story. She brings the reader in with sweet nothings and holds the heart with care as she unravels the layers one at a time to let in hurt, loss, and the greatest which is love.
Months after baring their souls and falling in love through letters, Charlotte travels across the country to discover why Lucian stopped writing to her. Now a recluse, Lucian is guarding a secret and fighting against his desire for her, his current behavior uncharacteristic of the person she thought she knew. Charlotte is pulled into the mysteries of his past and of the haunted hotel, unraveling whispers and strange recurring dreams. But where will it all lead?
I read this in one night, easily turning the pages, interested in the love story, Lucian’s history, and the haunted hotel. The pace was good, shifting nicely between Charlotte’s and Lucian’s POV. The tense climax made me uncertain how the story would wrap up and I was delighted to find an unexpected but satisfying resolution.
A romantic, spooky tale with a pinch of philosophy to make readers think about life, love, grief, and more.
First off, the cover is stunning. Fantastic artwork. Second, I love this book. It's got chills, thrills, romance. A little suspense. A terrific read. It's a gorgeously written story, and normally, I'm trying to guess at and cheat to know what happens at the end, and I'll admit I could not do that with this book. I had to read it through to know the ending. Which is nice, I like not being able to predict a book. I highly recommend this one!!
Wow! Everywhere, Everywhere just might be my new favorite book by Juliette. It is full of suspense, romance, constant twists and is hands down one of the most beautifully written books I’ve ever read. Juliette did such an amazing job keeping me engaged and guessing how it ends from the very beginning. Would definitely recommend this book to anyone! :)
Some things I love to read about: old towns steeped in history, supernatural events, romance, mystery. All of these are rolled up in one book. Beautiful settings, lovable characters and an engaging narrative make this an excellent read. I highly recommend!
A story about the first true love and the pain of entering adulthood. A story about the feeling of not belonging, where the world pushes you to conform.
The story is framed by a beautiful narrative and the sensitivity of the characters that touches the heart. There were moments that brought tears to my eyes, and I really appreciate when a book can evoke such emotions in me.
The bittersweet ending left me reflecting on the meaning of life and I cannot find better proof that would make a book even more splendiferously written, than staying with the reader long after the book actually ended.
Where do I even begin? This book swept me off my feet and bewitched me, heart and soul. I'm afraid I do not possess words adequate enough to praise this wonderful book in a worthy manner. Told in an exquisitely lyrical prose, Everywhere Everywhere brings a fresh & unique addition to the main course for us gothic romance fiends; a delicacy to feast upon this coming season – and it’s a taste many of us will never forget and would find it impossible to stop ourselves from reaching for a second helping. I know I will certainly be rereading my favorite scenes again.🕯️🍃
This BOOK is a magic unto itself. It spoke to me on such a deep level and exceeded all of my expectations. Told in dual pov, this YA gothic romance is a delectable mix of supernatural elements, the love letters/pen pals trope, grumpy + sunshine with sprinklings of grief, loss, a handful of longing and soul-deep love simmering throughout the book until it combusts into a confetti, coupled with atmospheric settings of the old mountain town in Colorado, the spookiness of the haunted hotel, the mystery surrounding Lucien and the reasons why he cut off ties suddenly and Charlotte's determination to uncover the truth, the creepy twists + the concept of soulmatism and a dash of philosophy. The author clearly outdid herself in this one. The twin-owl cute chapter header art added a fairytal-ish charm to the whole reading experience.✨🍂
Half of the time, going through Charlotte's mind felt like staring into a mirror. I was stunned. That rarely ever happens. And Lucien?🥺 i was simping for him from the moment he was first introduced.🤍✨
I loved this book! The setting and mystery was magical and gave perfect fall/winter vibes. The writing is beautiful while not being overdone, which makes it super cute and easy to read. The ending gave me chills!!! <3
