Arnold Stark Lobel was a popular American author of children's books. Among his most popular books are those of the Frog and Toad series, and Mouse Soup, which won the Garden State Children's Book Award from the New Jersey Library Association.
I read these as a child, and now read them again to my oldest. Maybe it’s part nostalgia, but this is simply the best. Every parent of kids around 5-8 years old needs to read these to their kids.
These stories bring back such fond memories of when my boys were small. How we laughed at Frog and Toad. This collection includes all four books (20 stories in all). Simply delightful.
I read Frog and Toad Storybook Favorites with my 7-year-old son, and we both loved it. The stories are simple yet full of warmth and wisdom. We laughed, talked, and learned a little more about friendship with each tale. A timeless classic for shared reading moments.
Quinn and I have really appreciated Frog and Toad this year. This collection has nice variety, including seasonal and holiday stories. I like the simple writing, focused plot lines, and the warmth in the main characters’ friendship. They are great examples of how to show up for people and show care and appreciation in our relationships.
Absolute banger. I've never felt more seen by a children's book. My son and I both have the same favorite story, "Cookies", about Toad baking cookies and then Frog and Toad trying to talk themselves out of eating cookies.
Classic children's tale I wanted to read myself before reading to my toddler. I love anthro animal stories, so I wanted to know about this classic. It was really cute and nostalgic of simpler times. Definitely a good addition to a cottagecore library.
A lot of the problems in these stories make more sense to me as an adult than when I was five, like feeling lost without a to-do list, being sad about not receiving (e)mail from friends and loved ones in my inbox, needing a bit of healthy alone time, etc.
As good as children’s storytelling gets. The stories never talk down to the reader. They aren’t schmaltzy lessons-filled junk - just funny and charming stories, with beautiful art work. I love these stories and my kids do too.
The most adorable stories. I was so happy to revisit these characters whose legacy I had half-forgotten since my childhood. These are tiny narratives chock full of quips, wit, wisdom, and heart. Truly, these are tales for all ages.
One of the most beautiful children’s books I’ve ever read. 50th anniversary edition is stunning. Comforting to the soul for all ages! Love reading to my little girl in the evenings before bed!
