"Gaining Ground" gave descriptions and pictures of landscaping projects by designer Michael Glassman, published in 2000, so it is somewhat dated-looking. My favorite photo was on page 96, showing 3 tiers of roses.

This book was a big disappointment. First of all, it is basically a tribute to landscape designer Michael Glassman and only shows his work. Too bad it wasn't titled as such. The writer clearly admires him to the point where the constant praise got on my nerves. The photography doesn't pop like it does for the best books of this genre. While there are plenty of nice designs, other books do this much better.
