No one betrays The Order—except a Davis.

George
Once upon a time, I was meant to be one of the three leaders of The Order.
But I was born with two irrevocable flaws:
A conscience and the ability to love.
Both cost me the one person that made life worth living.
Losing her made me become The Ghost.
I watched the consequences of my former world unravel, fighting from the shadows against the person who took everything from me.

Eloise
I was the firstborn Cartwright, destined by my family’s legacy to run the Institute.
If you didn’t follow The Order, we would find a way to make you.
I accepted my position—until George Weiler.
He took me by surprise. Made me want things I was never meant to have.
One kiss turned into a forbidden love story.
No one betrayed The Order. Until me.
And for that, I paid the price.
Unbeknownst to everyone, I’ve been waiting in the dark to take back what is mine.

**AUTHOR’S NOTE
The Ghost is a dark, forbidden, second-chance novella with modern-day organized crime, Romeo-and-Juliet vibes and a prequel to The Dark Series and The Davis Order.

ℒ𝑜𝑢, her family runs the institute and she is the heir to it, but what came in the way of duty was love, and her love for George was unbreakable, even though forces tried so hard to break them.
George, he would have been one of the three leaders, but love won out, but when the unexpected happens he finds himself on a different path. One of 𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆.

Lou and George's book was heartbreaking perfection, I swear...I loved every moment of it and just wished I could read more...and the steamy moments where 🥵🌶️🫠

....I need George, Nate and Rhys moments...I missed the two of them in this novella, in the second half of it...

What can I say about George but YES!! I was so excited to read his story. When we first met him, I told Danah he needed his own book LOL. Little did I know she would blow my mind and take me on this ride.George has a backstory. I don't think anyone saw it coming. His mania, his Lou, is all that keeps him this side of human. When he loses it all, we see how G became the ghost. Hiding in plain sight. While we are left yearning for more written words from Danah, George and Lou do find their way back to each other. This book screams Romeo and Juliet vibes! It's got just the right amount of darkness, steam, and plot for a novella. If you've never read Danah Logan, this novella is a great way to dive into her world. Then you need to go back and read her backlog lol. Because I am telling you, it doesn't disappoint.

Five Stars! I loved getting to meet George and Lou as young adults and can’t wait to dive into the dark series! But I’m even more excited for what is in store for The Davis Order Series. That epilogue 😳🫣🔥!! Bravo Danah!

Get to know George “The Ghost” as a young adult when this world was “The Order” and run by three families; not just the Davis’. George and Lou were first born children to two of the three head families and their path in life was sealed before they were born; but no one counted on their love for each other…

I received an ARC for my honest review.

This was amazing novella filled with forbidden love, spice and suspense. George (Aries) and Eloise (Mania) are fierce and deadly they would do anything for each other. It’s done in time jumps from last to present and flows really well. I was hooked from the start.

"I don’t want to leave without another taste." My breath hitches. "Then don’t." I tighten my hold and pull him closer until our mouths connect.

First of all why did this have to be a Novella 😭

I feel like there is so much to this story and I feel totally cheated out of it. I wanted to know more about Lou and their love. How it blossomed. Who George was in his younger years and more of how it shaped him into the George we met in TDS.

I feel there was so much potential and unfortunately for me the story just felt like it was missing all the meat I have come to expect from Danah's books.

An enjoyable read, but I definitely expected more.

Will still recommend Danah's books to everyone I know, because let's be honest I'm emotionally attached to these characters now. 🖤

"...but had I known you'd been waiting, I would have made you my priority."

This novella was a 4.5 stars for me!

George will be one of the three leaders in the original order. Lou's family is also high up in The Order but shes promised to another. Their story is a modern Romeo and Juliet, if you will.

Ohhhhhh George and Lou. This whole world that Danah has built has just grabbed me and won't let me go. George and Lou.. I rooted for them the entire time! There were moments I was shocked, surprised and then heartbroken! The ending surprised me and then the entire idea of this being a novella and over already made me so mad!! I needed more!!! This novella is an intertwined standalone. I was worried that since I've only read Rezoned prior to this novella that I might be lost but that was not the case at all. If anything it just made me want to start from the beginning even more than I already do.

Tropes/Content: M/F, promised to another, torture, forbidden love, romeo and juliet vibes, second chance, you are mine vibes, organized crime, anti-hero (with a conscience), revenge

Thank you Danah Logan and your team for this ARC! I can't wait to read more!!

The Ghost (Davis Order)

OMG what a story George and Eloise, the evil and manipulative Marshall Davis. The Order, the lies and murders and betrayal.

Who can blame George for the hate and revenge.

I can't wait I'm dying to know the outcome, it's going to be bloody and painful

Once again, I am stunned by Danah Logan’s ability to bring another face to my book boyfriend list.

However, the biggest shocker is, the way Marshall, somehow, slithered beneath my skin, and settled there.
Not about to divulge further as to why, you’ll have to read this for yourself & figure it out.

George - a tortured, silent type, but de@dly! Don’t mess around, or you’ll find out, exactly what he’s capable of.

This is a short novella, literally a breath of fresh air, that tips the scale, rips your heart and glues it back on, a little jigsaw puzzle if you will.

I say this again, but her writing is literal cr@ck for me.

Lou - my brave; strong, unique, woman, damn this FMC took the cake!

More? I need it! I need them!
This Romeo/Juliette type of story, drives you further down south, than you can imagine.
My emotions went haywire!

Highly recommend you check this out!

I love Danah's writing so much. I think she is amazing when it comes to bringing the right amount of plot and twists to the story while at the same time giving you the right amount of smut. Her stories are great connecting with one another but some can be read as standalone. To me Danah is the queen when it comes to suspenseful plots and twists.

I love how when I'm reading her stories I get completely lost in the world she has build. Rezoned has been one of my faves but everything that Danah writes I freaking love it.

All I'm going to say is be ready for the questions, for the WTFs, and for the kind of cliffy in a way cause it will leave you wanting more!

I’m pleased this author gave us George’s story. It was a lot to take in at first as I’ve read The Dark Series Books 1-5 before the prequel, but she executed it well.
It shows us his past and present. Lots of questions are answered, as well as more being created.
There’s plenty more to come.

“There is no turning back after this.”

“You were mine from the moment I laid eyes on you at Abyss…”

She’s all grown up from the girl with pigtails in her hair.
He’s even darker than before and even more tempting now.
A chance meeting and a stolen moment they both can’t ignore.

No matter the time that passes, their hearts start to only beat for one another and they will always find their way back together.

But, family, loyalty and duty could be about to tear both of their worlds apart. Afterall, they are in The Order and every rule break…has a punishment that needs to be withheld.

George & Eloise know their roles within The Order…are they willing to risk everything to be together?

Or will those pulling the strings play with them until the time is right to cut them loose…for good?

Not that I cared if I lived or died-once I got my revenge.

Guilt can eat away at you.
Regret worms its way into your suffering head.
You may be lost…but you will never forget the ones that casted you away into the shadows…

And there in the dark…you become something else…

The perfect weapon to take down your enemies.

I no longer accept my position. I want more. I want…love.

Fan’s of The Dark Series & new fans of The Davis Order are going to swoon over finding out more from this mystery character they know of Ghost…but as we find out now George and Eloise…

This story takes you right back to the start and gives you a glimpse of the main story set up with the characters. Personally, I have only come into this world with reading Rezoned and I was able to follow it enough to figure out who everyone was and had a guide of what I already knew. I thought this was a great opening, you feel for both George & Eloise trying to find their place within an already structured world they live in and carrying out what is to be expected of them. Their love is very much a Romeo & Juliet theme and this works really well for this story.

I enjoyed reading this as the story went on, bringing it up to date with the current new series (The Davis Order) and with some very twisting story spins that do leave you wanting more. I loved the detail, emotion and those touching moments that are shared between the characters.

I can’t wait to see where this will all lead to! I may need to backtrack myself to read the previous series as there seems to be a lot of interlinking happening and will help to fall even deeper into this world.

There was no such thing as leaving The Order…Alive.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the story of George and Eloise. She is the firstborn Cartwright. She was destined to by her family's legacy to run the Institute. She knows that no one betrays The Order. They will always find a way to make the person follow. Then she meets George who was supposed to be one of the three leaders of The Order. However him having a conscience and the ability to love makes that impossible. Both of those things cost him the one person that made his life worth living. That is how he became The Ghost. He has watched the consequences of his former world unravel and he has been fighting in the shadow against the person who took everything away from him. Then he meets Eloise and one kiss turns their story into a forbidden love story. She will betray The Order for him and pays the price. However, she too is waiting in the dark to take back what is rightfully hers.
This is a dark second chance romance that involves modern day organized crime with a Romeo and Juliet vibe. It is also the prequel to The Dark Series and The Davis order. I have read Rezoned that is the start of The Davis Order and I have read The Dark Trilogy and I am excited to get to meet Eloise and George as they are younger than when we met him as an adult in The Dark Series. It is his backstory as well as an introduction to her series. I loved how it was broken down into the past. This covers the time he comes home from college and then you go to the Present and each chapter is broken down into which book and series this is in the time period of. I really appreciated that. Even if you have not already read the books she is referencing your not going to be lost. I loved these characters and the journey they took. George and Lou are so perfect for each other.

The Ghost, aka George Wieler, has been an enigma since I read The Dark Trilogy. Danah has finally delivered his backstory in this novella prequel to…well a couple of series. The Ghost gives us a glimpse of George’s past before The Davis Order and The Dark series. It follows him briefly during a few moments when he was introduced in the The Dark series, and then a bit of a time jump after the events of the current Dark series books. It’s a great little teaser into what’s to come with the final Dark series book and the upcoming Davis Order books.

That was probably a lot to follow so I am including a list of Danah’s current, upcoming releases, and WIPs. I am going to be real real for a moment so hang on. When I read my first book by Danah, In The Dark, I was intrigued by the character development, the plot twists that she just kept delivering, and the incredible slow burn (yeah, it didn’t hit until book two but I am not at all mad because I LOVE plot). I went in blind and even though it wasn’t fast paced, I found myself getting sucked in at every turn only to realize this was way bigger than I had originally anticipated. Danah was setting the stage to expand on this world. I am so invested in these books now and I have absolutely no regrets. 𝑁𝑜𝑡 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝑎 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑒 𝑙𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟.

I loved George in this book. His story needed to be told. I was pleasantly surprised by how much storyline was packed into its pages, and the spice hot it perfectly. The books are getting darker and spicier as Danah writes them, and I am here for it. You can most certainly jump into The Davis Order series without reading The Dark series first, but I recommend you don’t skip them. There are so many characters that will pop up through all the books. The Ghost was a perfect slice of pie to hold me over until my most anticipated releases: Deadzone and Coldblood.

Oh George!!!

The Ghost is a novella, more like a piece of information to frame George's character in Danah Logan's Dark and Davis Order's worlds.

I bet all Danah's female readers have a soft spot for George and it is legiti! George was always a very reserved person, with specific training that induced a military background, but nothing else. His past was a mystery as well as his reasons for his nickname. Protective, respectful, a man in charge and of confidence, Lilly couldn't have had a better head of security and shadow. He knew what he was doing and was always attentive to her family, friends and subordinates. His brain was on the job, but now we know that it is focused on the threat as well, both to him and his employers.

For a long time, I felt that he would be a very important piece in the game the author created and keeps developing. What I was not expecting was how ingeniously Danah choose a character to bring both her worlds crashing together and George is it!
In the great scheme of things, George is the liason and will definitively be a savior too!

I absolutely loved G and L's as a couple, as soulmates, as a united front after everything that went down, so many years later and how both found one another and are ready to join forces and their hearts together, once again, with expectations to win the utmost battle of their lives and the crown that should have been in their heads a long time ago.

I have my suspicions, because Marshall Davis was and still is a snake overall and as far as machiavellian plans go, so I'm definitively waiting for a good surprise!

Now I'm sad, brcause it was too short, but so happy that we'll be seeing everything come together!

George and Lou are not meant to be with each other in the Davis Order, but they are meant to be together in the real world because they are soulmates. Their want for each other is evident from the very beginning. Having to sneak around and fight against distances and bigger forces but always coming back to each other had my heart in a chokehold! The Ghost for sure delivers on deceit, lies, and secrets. This novella packs a punch of story and steam! It was so great to see George in this romantic setting. In the other books, he is seen as a protector and fighter and this story gives us the backstory of how he came to be like this. You can feel his protectiveness over Lou. If you have already read Rezoned, you might already hate Marshall Davis. But even if you are starting with this book, it’s easy to see why Marshall is a detestable character. The Ghost is the perfect place to start any series by Danah Logan. Romantic suspense is the name of the game and Danah crushes that trope! Another aspect Danah is amazing at is not leaving cliffhangers (except for the In the Dark Trilogy), but unanswered questions. There are so many unanswered interconnected questions that I’m foaming at the mouth for the next book! Danah is so good at leaving us breadcrumbs when I’m here for the whole loaf! Others have said it's hard to review the book without giving away the story and the twists. I agree, which is why I implore you to read The Ghost. You won’t be sorry! Also, if this is your first Danah Logan book, it won’t be your last! (P.S. Sorry for all the exclamation points but The Ghost is just that good!).

“We’re all just a bunch of depraved kids that grew up under even more depraved parents.”

It’s finally time for George’s story – a character that has always been an enigma in Danah Logan’s books! I loved everything about The Ghost. Finally getting to know his backstory is kind of amazing. What I really loved about this novella is the way it was set up. There’s a character glossary because there’s hella characters in these stories. There’s also a note at the start of the chapter to tell you at what place that chapter occurs in the other books.

George (Ares) and Eloise (Mania) have a seriously heartbreaking story. However, their story also contains a second chance at love, along with the ultimate revenge. This book isn’t all doom and gloom – there’s a lot of happy moments. Young George is hot as hell – I love his dominating ways… in the bedroom.

The Ghost is definitely a Romeo x Juliet type story, but without the… well, never mind. You’ll have to find out Jules and George’s fate.

“No one betrays The Order.
Except for a Davis.”

You need to read Danah’s other books to fully understand this one. But if you’re into dark secrets, forbidden loves, soul mates, organized crime, tortured characters… The Ghost AND Danah’s other books would be right up your alley!

As usual, Danah Logan’s writing has blown me away. Definitely made me feel like I was right there with the characters. She shows you the scenes, instead of just telling you about them. Can’t wait to see what happens to all these characters next!

I can honestly say that never have I been so enraged at a book of this length (it's novella length), and I don't mean that in a bad way, nope, it's that powerful even though I would totally give anything for more. The Order is a brutal world which shows no mercy for emotions, as duty is set in stone or else (and you don't want their type of punishments). Our hero, George, actually has a conscience, and even finds someone he falls in love with but he's the heir of his family. Lou is that girl, but in their world, the firstborn (male OR female) has no wiggle room, and Lou is the heir in her family so basically, they're not to fall for each other but the heart wants what the heart wants. However, the Order will do whatever it takes to stop that so it was a dicey journey filled with danger for them. The twists were all over the place, and when their past exploded into chaos, man, it was brutal. George became the Ghost after everything that happened, and he's waiting in the wings for vengeance so hold on to your hats! I was absolutely swearing up a storm at the end of this story, and now I'm actually freaking out for more now because I need that next book so yeah, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Oh George, George, George - I have needed your story since way back in The Dark Series... And it has not disappointed!!

George is as d3adly as all-out, the man is fierce, he's a machine, unbeatable, mysterious, and has this 'thing' about him, an aura or a something, but it just makes him seem so genuinely good, yes he may be surrounded by all sorts of Evi| but he himself, he's a good man and I adore him!!

His Mania Lou is the female version, fierce, d3adly, mysterious and I can't say much apart from she rocks!

The story gives us some of their past, the present and what's to come in the future and although I knew this was a novella, I would love more!
Don't take that as a bad thing, it just shows how well it was written, how believability the characters are and the bite that has me gripped - I could easily read 1000s of pages on George!!

Really enjoyed it, really excited on what's to come and really really can't wait!!!

Everything Danah writes is freaking amazing. I knew George had a good story to tell from the first time we met him but this far surpassed anything I could have anticipated. This book was so action packed for a novella. There were so many dots connected but every dot that was connected just brought even more to know.

This world is absolutely epic. Danah’s books are a big reason why I joined bookstagram. I found myself absolutely enamored and wanted to talk about them with others that loved them too and share them for others to love.

You’ll find in this book: forbidden with Romeo and Juliet vibes, betrayal and revenge, second chance, organized crime, dark romantic suspense, anti hero with a conscience, spiderwebs of connections and mysteries, and fantastic spice. The Ghost is a standalone novella that is connected to The Dark and The Davis Order series. It could be read as a standalone or you can start from the beginning with In the Dark. It is 1st dual person POV and is available wide.

George, aka The Ghost, was supposed to be a leader to The Order, an organization you should never cross. But he had too much conscience to play the part and it cost him his only reason for living. Eloise was born to run the Institute, and has always been taught to never betray the Order. Then she meets George and everything spirals out of control.

I was so happy to learn we were finally getting George's backstory since his character has been a bit of an enigma the entire time. I loved that he had an genuinely interesting backstory and that it wasn't something stereotypical or basic. The book is short, only around 120ish pages, but you feel like you've gotten a full novel with how much story the author has packed in. Eloise is also a phenomenonal character that matched George perfectly in every way. They were truly a match made in Heaven and you get that throughout their story.

I have loved mysterious George ever since he snuck up on us in previous stories! I couldn’t wait to find out more about him and what his driving force was on taking down The Davis Order. And even though this was just a short snippet of his past and present, it sure packed quite the punch.

The emotional turmoil George goes through in his past, with finding love and then losing it, broke my heart for him. And then the shocking moments in his present that flips his world upside down – WOW – no wonder George is so angry.

This was a very enticing novella that only just whetted my appetite for more! It was suspenseful, intense, dramatic, spicy and with so many little twists and turns that it continually kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for the explosive moments to happen.

I loved it and can’t wait for more of George!!

I've fallen in love with the way that Danah Logan writes. She has a way of having me on the edge of my seat, page after page. The Ghost is no different. This forbidden and second chance romance had me invested from the get go, and I love the darker elements used within it. Not to mention that Romeo and Juliet kind of vibes amongst organized crime.

George and Eloise's love shattered once before, but this time they might very well have the chance to keep it together. There is so much I could rave about, and freak out over but to keep this spoiler free I won't mention any of them. This book is good to go into not knowing what awaits around every turn.

This story is a prequel to The Dark Series and The Davis Order. There are trigger warnings.
Thank you Danah Logan for an arc of this book.

The Ghost by Danah Logan
Release date: July 27, 2023
AHH!?! This book was phenomenal to read. The book makes me want to reread The Dark Series again. I’m going to have to make all of the characters a detailed family tree so I can remember who everyone is. The love between George and Lou was amazing to read. They had so much hot chemistry that it was like seeing two storms come together to make a beautiful Rainbow in the end. This is a five-star read for me and I didn’t want to put my Kindle down. I can remember when @authordanahlogan sent out her first ARC of Into the Dark, book one in the series. I still have the same excited feeling when I receive an E-ARC copy. I can’t wait to see where Lady Danah’s author’s journey takes her.
