A good basis. Explaining all the basic concepts. The edition I read was old and it was entertaining reading some of the viewpoints pre-GDP. Also very USA centric which is fine but there was a habit to put USA as No 1 in ranking of economic things ignoring countries that actually rank ahead. I was surprised so went and found the data from the same period to check and yes the book only uses a subset of countries but it is misleading to allow the reader to assume that no country would ever be ahead of the US. Either way I learned something and was glad to have read his book.
