I read through this book during my first week at a summer camp, taking it a room a night, giving each area of our lives to Jesus.
My favorite two rooms are the study/library and the closet in the hall. The study was where He would meet you for one on one time together and always be there for you even when you were too busy, and I have this image in my mind of running past the open door of this room and seeing Him sitting with the Bible opened, eyes watching me pass by. The closet contains all the secrets and things you don't want anyone to know about in your whole life, and the Lord wants to clean that part of your "house" too, and make it pure and good. At the end, we had a paper Title deed of our house/heart, and signed it's ownership to Jesus Christ.
My life was never the same after that week.

More than any other tiny booklet, I've found My Heart-Christ's Home by the late Robert Boyd Munger useful for evaluating my walk with Jesus and quiet times. I've used it a number of times in Bible study to trigger discussions and they currently offer copies to residents of our local detention facility (jail).

It compares Jesus entering my heart - see Ephesians 3:16-17 - to Jesus entering the rooms of the home that is my heart. A great analogy for understanding the areas of our life we must surrender and put under the control of the Holy Spirit.

Enjoyed the first part of the book. Could see it as really helpful for a new believer or even as a Wednesday night series idea.

Second part was passages from book of John.

Third part was devotional based on the first part.

I read this all this morning (it’s VERY short) and will probably keep reading it all the time! It’s fun to read this book about allowing Christ into my heart (his home) while I also settle into my new home:) the end of Psalm 73 says “I have made the sovereign Lord my refuge” and it made me think of all the ways I’ve prepared my own home this week— all the necessary items as well as comforts that I’ve put effort into gathering so that I could have a refuge here. What have I done today to make JESUS my refuge? How much of my life have I allowed him to have and shape?

“I go to prepare a place for you.. that where I am, ye may be also” Our Lord was promising his disciples that, just as He was going to heaven to prepare a place for them and would welcome them one day, now it would be possible for them to prepare a place for Him in their hearts and he would come and make his home there with them.”

I have the "New, Expanded Edition" and it will still take you only 5 minutes to read but a year to apply as well as ponder what you give to your Savior, Jesus Christ. Will you give him all the rooms of your life. A wonderful way to dramatize how it should look to give your whole life to Christ. The further reading section in the back is also very good.

I debated whether or not to put this book on my Goodreads because it’s only 4 pages.. but it was such a worthwhile 4 pages that I wanted to tell people about it. It extrapolates the analogy of Christ coming into your heart and getting a tour of all of the rooms. How easy it is to not let Christ in all the rooms of your life. Take 5-10 minutes to read this story. You will be happy you did.

My pastor referenced this little book on Sunday, and I’m so thankful he did. It was a brief but sweet encouragement to my heart.

A good taste of what is needed. But hardly a meal. The meal comes when we as believers apply what is learned.

Sometimes the short books are better at getting to the point. They are richer, more full of wisdom and knowledge.

So it is with this. This pamphlet illustrates beautifully how you go from Christ being Savior to becoming LORD and Master of your life.

Christ is invited in by you when you accept him into your heart. You show him around each element of your “home” of the heart, and he offers you a better way, more glorifying and pleasing to God, in each element.

And He doesn’t like the ugly parts of your home- he wants to get rid of the bad stuff and fix it up and make it brand new, if you will let him.

Christ is waiting to be in fellowship with me every single day, whether I show up or not. He is consistent in His Word even when I’m not. He loves being around me! He wants to be a close companion of mine.

A beautiful short way to illustrate sanctification.

This book really brings to life the idea that God indwells each believer personally, and the author uses the analogy of a home to do this. The use of the home really brings this idea to life and makes it understandable. Each believer should want Jesus to feel welcome in every room of their inner “home”…. With the ultimate goal of turning the entire deed of ownership over to Jesus so that He will be the master of your life. This was a super quick read (around 30 minutes) and I would highly recommend it to all.

This allegory has the power to reach the heart of every professing Christian who reads it. I believe that it will cause them to change both word and deed. There are no hidden areas left when we fully yield to Christ. Although it is natural to hide the dark areas, it is so liberating to surrender them to His care. May all who read this gladly surrender the title deed of their lives to Jesus!

I think everyone needs to read this book — will take less than 10 min and captivates the beauty of what it means to abide in Christ.

“‘Here,’ I said. ‘Here it is, all that I am and all that I have, forever. Now You run the house. I’ll just remain with You as a servant and friend.’ Things are different since Jesus Christ has settled down and has made His home in my heart.”

A Clean Home

How clean is your home for Christ to live in? This book examines each and every room of your heart preparing it to have Christ comfortable living in it with you. He evens offers to clean up the parts we try to hide from the public. Great book!

Short yet edifying little read on making Jesus 💯 part of our lives. I love how the author uses rooms of the heart to show the intimacy of relationship between God and His people. Highly recommend!

Just as Jesus goes back to heaven to prepare a place for us (John 14:2-3), we can prepare a place for Him now in our hearts where He and the Heavenly Father can make their home (John 14:23).

This short book is a must-read for all Jesus-followers 13 and up. Upon invitation, Jesus goes with us from room to room (the study room of our mind, the dining room of our appetites and desires, the living room of our fellowship, the workroom where we tinker around on projects for ourselves or for the kingdom of God, the rec room of our fun and leisure pursuits, the bedroom of sexual intimacy, and the locked-up hall closet of secret but putrid contents). It ends with the challenge of whether we should remain owner of the house where Jesus is just a guest or if it's better to transfer ownership to a Master who can do a better job keeping house with us!

This is a tough one to rate because I've read it before, and last time, I really didn't like it. I still don't, but I understand the analogy better. To me, it comes across as though Jesus is a sort of Martha Stewart character, more interested in the neatness of the rooms of the house rather than as a carpenter who is likely to want to move windows and tear down walls. I understand better that the rooms were references to certain areas of our lives, but I can't shake my earlier response. So I sort of like it because of the correspondence between the rooms and our lives, but I still think it missed the mark.

'My Heart Christ's Home' is a lovely little parable about one's walk with the Lord.

It's hurt, however, by the author's decision to append an explanation: as if his simple story were somehow too impenetrable for the reader to grasp. I found myself snapping my fingers through this part, thinking, "Yeah, yeah. I got it the first time. Move along."

Nevertheless, this is a quibble. 'My Heart Christ's Home' ain't the 'Confessions,' but it's a lovely little reminder of where our hearts should be.

A really short little brochure recommended in a sermon.

Imagine what it would be like to have Jesus come to the home of your heart. In My Heart–Christ's Home, you'll follow Robert Munger as he moves room by room through the house of his life, considering what Christ desires for us.

In the living room, we prepare to meet Christ daily. In the dining room, we examine together what appetites should and should not control us. Even the hidden closets of our lives are explored, revealing how Christ can help us clean out what we’ve kept locked away.

Refreshing

On this Christian journey, sometimes we feel very alone. We believe what we go through or think or feel is only experienced by us. When another child of God shares in a pure way that removes the scales from another's eyes, it is life changing. And timeless, as is this piece.

This very short book is written in parable style to illustrate what happens when we enter into relationship with Jesus Christ. This has been a favorite of Intervarsity Press for many decades, and it is no wonder! I highly recommend this to all Christians as well as those who are just curious. 5+⭐️s.

This is a classic look at what it means to allow Jesus to make his home in one's life. Munger takes us room by room and imaginatively shows us what happens when we allow Jesus to take possession of our hearts.

This little book reminded me how I accepted Jesus Christ in my life, and thus how I am living my life for Him and with Him. Every thing that was illustrated had a pinched in my heart, realizing my daily walk with Jesus, the owner of my heart and life.
