The author had a free promo this weekend. I read the story in a day. The first thing I have to mention is that although the author is touting it as number 1 in Paranormal Romance, this was not a paranormal romance simply because you have a ghost flicking ears once in a while (that everyone attributes to mosquitoes!? Yet no one says, "There's no swelling, or bite mark"!?) Almost every other page, the author has someone say, "Damn mosquitoes". I didn't think this was supposed to be a comedy. There were many grammatical errors and wrong timelines which could have been fixed with a proofread (or three). The fact that Jax and friends didn't realize that Sasha was their fallen brother's wife is laughable. How many times did they look at the dog, Oscar, and realize it was the same as Ben's dog he sent to his wife? Many. Her name starts with an "S" and even though Ben only ever referred to her as "Sassy", it's not that hard to put two and two together. The author does mention that Ben never talked about his wife to his SEAL brothers other than how much he loved her, but yeah, that seems far-fetched and an easy way out. (He didn't have a picture of her displayed? Nothing!?) The way Jax and Sasha went from zero to 60 when it came to falling in love was a bit ridiculous. I'm all for love, and love at first sight, but this was so unrealistic, and therefore, it was hard to cheer their relationship on. "You saw me nekkid? NEKKID!?" Again, was this supposed to be a comedy? And don't get me started on the marriage proposal that came out of nowhere without even a heart to heart. The way the POV shifted from character to character made my head spin. I had to reread certain passages because it was hard to tell who was speaking and what they were referring to. Although I commend the author for holding my attention - part of the reason my attention was secured was to see how all this silliness would end. I did enjoy the tender moments (not the sex, but the tender moments) and therefore, gave it two stars. The book needs a good edit, proofreading, and maybe a few less mosquitoes.
