I was with Jim Steinberg on the island-ashram-retreat site Naitauba as he was writing this book and taking photos, Hence I am featured in a small way as a photo talking about Bhakti as the supreme path of realization. My face is lite as ecstasy courses through every part of me. That was then.
This is now, 2022. I remain a true believer in the ancient spiritual path formed in India, that then and now, lights a path to True Realization. And I believe Jim Steinberg recounts parts of this tradition. I however disavow that Adi Da Samraj, aka Bubba Free John, aka Franklin Jones, was at anytime a Realizer become Teacher capable of the Grace a True Guru blesses his/her students with on their long journey to the Truth.
I can say this with confidence because Bubba was not the only manifest Guru I sought out for their Teaching and Blessing. Foremost was Sri Sri Krishna Padmanabha Menon, son of Atmananda, blessed to continue that great Teachers work, a Karana Guru of the highest order. It was in his company in the years 1972-1975 in Austin Texas that I was blessed with the Direct Experience of Sahaja Samadhi.
At no time during my 30+ years with Bubba did my samadhi come any where close. Nonetheless, I was well instructed in the path of Bhakti, and Jim Steinberg was part of that. Indeed, Jim's book esceeds any authored by Bubba Free John under any of the aliases assumed by him. I highly recommend it.
