Trending on TikTok takes on an entirely new meaning when the ‘for you’ becomes a viral love story in the making. Aries Skye makes a sizzling debut in this flirty feel-good romance, perfect for fans of Jasmine Guillory and Farrah Rochon.
Zany and vivacious Nissi Richards always had her sights set on one goal—her career. As the youngest doctor at Optimal Dentistry, Nissi is the epitome of Black Girl Magic and a #GoalCrusher. Dating, however, was a different topic, or rather more of a non-existent headline. Despite her best friend's botched matchmaking attempts and her meddlesome sisters who insist she hook a man, love and marriage were never on Nissi's to-do list—at least not that she'd admit.
Kannon Jordan was a man of simplicity. Unimpressed with the whims of every short skirt that flitted by, or the sexy social media prospects, the ravishing fireman was content with the bachelor's life. A cosmic shift in his beliefs takes a nosedive once he crosses paths with a dazzling doctor in distress.
When Kannon rescued Nissi from a malfunctioned elevator, she never thought she'd see the handsome fireman again. Suddenly, when a TikTok video goes viral, the two strangers are miraculously reconnected. Will Nissi and Kannon surrender to their feelings, or will they deny their chemistry and the possibility of love at first sight?

Listen i loved these two. i loved how they met and their chemistry. I however did not like that up until the very end it was either he was in a relationship or she was with other people. ugh!
Their love at first sight didn't appeal to me either. They were both doing too much for someone they didn't really know. Other than that i did enjoy the rest of the story. I love the relationship the MMCs had with their families and their friendship.
Overall, a solid story if you're not opposed to insta love and MMCs cheating on their partners with each other.
Thanks to Black Odyssey Media and Netgalley for the ARC!

i loved the first part of this book - hearing about nissi’s workplace, her friends there, and even the tiktok side of things, but then her and kannon were just impossible to root for eventually. throughout the book, they spent more time apart - with other partners, or just simply single, and when they were together, they mainly argued about previous events in the book!! by the end, i felt like i was reading a different author’s writing.
thank you to black odyssey media for providing me with an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review.
Listen Kannon had me, I felt betrayed like I was Nissi when he dropped his news on sis after the amazing date they had. Now he did redeem himself in the end, but I was still looking at him sideways because WTF. I loved that Nissi was a TikToking Dentist, sis was about her business, and she did not play with her professional career.
In the beginning I felt bad for Benji because I already knew it wasn’t going to work out well for “Mr. Nice Guy”, but then even the nice guy let me down. I absolutely loved the brotherhood Kannon had with his brother and best friend Jovan. All men need a Kingston and Jovan in their lives. Kingston was a rider for his brother, but he also let him know in his own brotherly way when he needed to figure his life out. Jovan on the other hand did not back down when Kannon was on BS. Jovan set Kannon straight while also letting him know they were boys so when he was ready, he would still be there for him. Nissi had a tight sisterhood as well with her sisters and friends riding for her and I loved that for her. The back and forth between Nissi and her sisters gave me all the feels.
I was glad when Nissi and Kannon finally got it together because they put me through it, but I enjoyed the ride. I am not usually a slow burn kind of girl, but the drama in between kept me very engaged in the book and made Nissi and Kannon’s declaration of love that much sweeter. Nissi’s zany personality made me chuckle and kept me entertained. This was a great debut novel, and I can’t wait to see what happens between the potential couple introduced in the book, I already have my eye on Aries Skye’ next release.
this was love at first sight on crack… 5 hours together and a one night stand & yall are so in love and have a strong connection??? messing up relationships because yall can’t stop thinking about each other and have to be together??? PLEASE! and then all the tiktok references were annoying. personally, the fmc and mmc were corny and cringe
Love on The Ninth Floor is an instant attraction story. A feisty dentist is stuck on an elevator at work and a fine firefighter rescues her. Dr. Nissi has a huge social media following on TikTok and takes matters into her own hands to find the man whom rescued her, Kannon. Quickly the masses help the two to connect. Their “thank you” date went well and it seemed the newest internet sensations were headed into bliss. However, things took a turn when Kannon revealed a secret. Overall, this was a good story and a case of “right person, wrong time.” Both characters stressed me out, because it was obvious they were soulmates but they were stubborn and continued to push further apart. I liked the flow of the story, the sub-characters, and the importance of family / sibling relationships. The author did a great job including current events in to the story, as well. I liked that everyone knew there was more to Nissi and Kannon and did not sugarcoat the fact that both were settling with their partners. River was more understanding and I appreciated her. Benji refused to accept his loss and let Nissi go. Like, sir, read the room! I enjoyed the spice, the comedic relief, and banter. In the end, the heart knows what it wants!
What started as a meetcute turned into an instant love connection. Dr. Nissi Richard's found herself stuck in an elevator and Firefighter Kannon Jordan came to her rescue. Reminiscing about the event has Nissi wanting to personally thank the sexy firefighter who saved her. Insert a viral TikTok video and these to connect and sparks fly. Just as quick as the crescendo of their night hits its soon diminuendoes with a reveal of a shocking secret. Things are complicated and they struggle to accept the fact that just in a short time they built a connection unlike any other. I was very shocked by the secret and it definitely had me side eyeing Kannon. I was happy that Nissi didn't just accept what happened and play the side role. I loved how Jovan and Kannon's father were quick to call him out on his actions and feelings for Nissi. I loved Nissi's interactions with her sisters and their relationship outside of Aquila stealing Nissi baby name. This was a really enjoyable read for me. I can't wait to read Angela and Kingston's story.
This was entirely too damn long. Ok now that I’ve gotten that out of the way let’s get to the review.
Love at first sight. This was a romance story that was a slow burn and I do mean slow. They go viral on tik tok after a chance encounter. They decide to go on a date as a show of appreciation and the connection, chemistry, and passion is instant for the both of them. Insert a major problem here. Full stop. They cannot be together and are forced to move on from one another. But the longing, the desire and misery is palpable. Insert fear and that major problem which is now two sided and you have a slow burn of a love at first night story. This story is full of emotion and lust. The thing you most desire is constantly in reach and you can’t have it. I recommend this story if you don’t mind a slow burn and you like a love at first sight story that has a little movement but you’re not sure in what direction. They have nasty sex the good kind.
I received an arc for an honest review for this book. And honestly my review is wow! It gave me all the feels! I cried. I laughed. I was shocked. It really had me reflect on my own relationship ending not too long ago and helped me be a little more at peace with it. Would be amazing if we got a part 2 on her sister and his brother! Also picturing these fine ass men in my mind 🤌🏼😉 ♥️
I received a reader’s copy of this books for an honest review
It’s a 3 stars book for me . I wish I could give it more but I can’t. For me it was a chaotic experience. I wish the mcs spent more time together. I get the whole love at first sight idea , but how they got to be together it’s not it for me . They were apart more than half of the book not to mention , in a relationship with other people . I felt very bad for Benji and River . Both of them deserved way better . I understand that both of them had a good income but the multitude of brand names regarding items of clothing or shoes made both of them seem shallow in my opinion

I despise the love at first sight trope. I think its non-sensical, completely unrealistic, and unbelievable and it isn't something that I'm at all interested in. So, I had to go back to the synopsis to see if that trope was hinted at and...I can only be mad at myself right now. Because it says CLEAR AS DAY "will they surrender to their feelings or will they deny their chemistry and the possibility of love at first sight?
Suffice it to say, I did NOT enjoy Love on the Ninth Floor. And what's grinding my gears the most right now is the fact that I took a chance on this debut novel, and spent my hard earned cash to purchase the book when I'm a kindle unlimited faithful, through and through. But again...I'M partially to blame. Because one of my biggest gripes with this book was that the entire premise of the book and the character and romance progression in this book was based on Nissi and Kannon falling "in love" with one another after only having been in eachothers presence for five hours. A bit of saving grace was that the characters at least made it a point to mention how crazy it was that they'd developed such strong feelings for eachother so quickly...
Quick aside...what is the point of the love at first trope? How is anyone in their right mind supposed to believe that two mentally sound adults, meet eachother, and just fall in love with eachother. I don't even know if I LIKE someone upon meeting them and even being in their prescence on multiple occassions. So how is it feasible to enjoy a story based on characters FALLING IN LOVE with one another when they don't even know eachother. What is it about the person that you love? You don't know their favorite color, what their guilty pleasure foods are, if they can cook, if they flush with the toilet seat up or down, if they want to have children, if they're respectful to their parents. NOTHING...so how do you know?! What is it that you LOVE?!....and these are all the things I was screaming to the rooftops while reading this book. Its a BAFFLING trope to me.
But I digress. There was a bit of a twist to the trope that I appreciated in the beginning, which was that things weren't easy between Nissi and Kannon. There was DRAMA that prevented them from being together or moving forward with the "feelings of love" they developed for one another after their first date. It was a nice surprise because it broke up some of the "everything is perfect" that was happening in the beginning of the book...but then it DRAAAAAGGGED, quite literally, until the very end of the book. To the point that by the time I got to the last 100 pages, I was starting to get concerned that I was going to make it to the end.
I really wish I got to know more about the characters outside of their pining for eachother. Other than the fact that Kannon was a firefighter and Nissi a Dentist, we don't really get to KNOW them. We get glimpses of their work and family life but not enough to actually endear me to the characters or make them memorable past me reading the final page of the book and writing this review. It was like their entire identities were predicated on "their love".
Outside of the trope, there were a few other issues I had with the book that are contributing to the rating. — The dialogue between the characters felt contrived at times. There were multiple points throughout the book where I remember thinking "no one talks this way." — For whatever reason, in a book that was released in Nov 2023, COVID was a notable factor in the beginning of the book. There was social distancing and masks mentioned and then about 30% through the book "the mask mandate was lifted" and we didn't hear about COVID again. It felt as if the author maybe started this book when we may have still been in the thick of COVID but then we were out of it...it was distracting, didn't add anything to the story, and could have been removed. — The book felt to be about 100 pages too long. There was an entire gym scene centered around Nissi and Kannons siblings, Angela and Kinston flirting and shooting their shots at one another, which felt like a set up to a potential sequel about them...but when I'm damn near 80% through the book and haven't even gotten to experience any realy romance between the two main characters of THIS book...full chapters about other characters and their potential love can be kept.
....Honestly there was a lot, but I don't want this review to become a hate fest. There WERE a few things that I did enjoy. I loved the relationship between Kannon and Kinston. I don't know what it is but really strong bonds between brothers, especially Black brothers just DOES it for me. I LOVED the many shoutouts to the Black owned watch brand Talley and Twine. I've had my eye on several of their pieces for quite some time and I might actually pull the trigger on a purchase now. And I REALLY loved the name pronunciation guide the author provided at the beginning of the book. A lot fo times when we read these books, we're guessing at how character's names are pronounced, especially when they're unique names, so to have the author upfront say "this is what it is, you're welcome"...I really appreciated that...
Last parting thought....Benji?? YOU PLAYED yourself brother. I hate that you went out the way you did...it was extra cringe to read. OOF.
The premise of the book interested me and it started off fast with Nissi getting trapped in an elevator where Kannon who was a firefighter came to rescue her. She didn't catch his name and used TikTok as she was already TikTok famous as the "dancing dentist" to hopefully meet him again to thank him. While the plan worked it took a turn that i did not see coming when he made a revelation that put a halt in them being an us and her even wanting to talk to him.
After this revelation they both tried to move on but couldn't stop thinking about each other and for me. I felt that is where the book dragged. In their individual relationships it seemed like they were just stringing their mate along when their mates wanted more from them that they were able to give but just stayed out of familiarity and not wanting to hurt the other person. Kannon came to the realization sooner than Nissi did so when they saw each other again he thought he would be able to approach her but that was when he found out she was in a relationship herself. Nissi's parents even knew that her boyfriend was not it for her but she didn't want to give in to the feelings she clearly had for Kannon because of what happened the one and only time they actually met up and went out.
Numerous times in the book when I thought she was going to give him a chance she didn't and then when she finally decided she was ready he shot her down which annoyed me at that point because it was to much back and forth.. We did finally get a HEA with Nissi and Kannon at the end but it took too long to get there and we didn't get to see much of them together as a couple through it all. This was a decent debut by Aries Skye and I would read more of her work but I just felt the delivery of this one could have been shorter and it could have done with a little less of the unnecessary details.
I was intrigued because this was described as a Tik Tok book and there are a lot of Tik Tok references. This book was also written at the end of Covid and the lockdown. It’s a very trendy book. Finally, and this is the thing that got me, the descriptions were annoying. Specifically the descriptions of garments and accessories it felt like it was fronting and unnecessary.
Otherwise the story is about a dentist, Nissi, who has gone viral on Tik Tok for her dental office dances on the app. One day headed to lunch she gets trapped in an elevator. She’s rescued by a very good looking fireman, Kannon. Wanting to thank him she turns to Tik Tok and her video goes viral faster than anything else she posted.
They have an amazing first date and then sex on the beach. Afterwards, Kannon confesses he has a girlfriend and the sh*t flies.
This couple spends most of the book away from each other for a variety of reasons. Misunderstandings, interferences, deceit and plain old stubbornness keeps them apart.
They literally get together in the last 10 pages of the book. But I didn’t get annoyed at their journey. Probably because the reasons why made sense. While the story was interesting, I just couldn’t get pass the descriptions so 3 ⭐️.

Ok, so I gotta be honest with this review. I didnt think I would care much for it because of its surroundings with Tiktok. I dont really care for books like that. But, this book won me over. The romance/slow burn between Nissi and Kannon had me tuned in waiting to see what would happen next. Im also a HUGE fan of supporting cast members. Family and friends. I loved the friends and family from Nissi and Kannon they also kept this book entertaining and somewhat messy, lol. I instantly thought I wouldnt like Kannon, but he redeemed himself, you gotta read to see what I mean 😏He was definitely messy from jump! Enjoy! More books to come from this series.
This was a quick and easy read! It was my first time reading an insta-love story in this capacity, and while I’m not sure the trope is really for me, I can definitely see how it works for those who enjoy that fast-paced romance.
The beginning was cute and fun, but things moved really quickly. I found myself wanting a bit more build-up to make the connection feel believable. That said, the TikTok vibes were funny, and I really enjoyed the friendships and banter between the main character and her coworkers & siblings. It added a nice touch of personality.
These main characters stressed the hell out of me lol. It’s a 3.5 for me but I rounded up. I kept screaming at the damn book wanting them to get their shit together. They fussed and stayed apart more than they were together. And I’m still trying to figure out why they were head over heels in love so fast lol. Maybe it’s just me. Hopefully book 2 doesn’t stress me out as much.
whew this was a bit of a roller coaster . i was eating up the drama in the beginning , and really felt like i was nissi for a minute . i just personally be irritated when one person decides to take that step and the other change they mind .. i just be like pls get together . anyways i liked this a lot overall
Soooo they’re both cheaters ? I was annoyed most of the book but I pushed through. I’m all game for the love at first sight but he started out the cheater and she ended the cheater. Neither of their partners deserved the way they BOTH played games. Her boyfriend wasn’t a saint but he also wasn’t the bad guy.
First let me say that I was given this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I wasn't to start off with what I liked about the story.
*Their meeting- I enjoyed the way that Kannon and Nissi initially met. I am all for a fireman as a MMC in any book. I enjoyed the whole Tik Tok videos and viral moments because these are things that are realistic, and I have seen before. I can relate to the idea of it.
*The Sibling Bonds- Even though Nissi, Angela, And Aquilla would argue and talk junk to one another, you cannot mistake that they love one another. They are ride and die. I can say the same for Kannon and Kinston. These two were for sure down for one another and not one-person better mess with either group. I am always sweet on family love.
*The 5-hour date- I really enjoyed the connection that Kannon and Nissi had on their thank you date. I loved the conversation that they had and many of the things that Kannon spoke about resonated with me. Kannon came off as a man who knew what he wanted and stood on maturity. His responses were thought out and had meaning behind them. I truly loved how these two were able to be comfortable around one another so easily.
*Jovan's speech- He read Kannon and he read him well. That whole conversation was needed and on point. If your friends are not this honest I don't know what to tell you.
What I didn't like: *Nissi's attitude- Nissi was not as likeable as I thought she would be for me. Her attitude on situations was really throwing me. I understand that she may have had things that made her fearful for love even though she wanted it, but the way she acted once thigns progressed got on my nerves. The miscommunication between Kannon and her irked me really back. She didn't give him the opportunity to explain so that she can have understanding but jumped to conclusions with out all facts.
*Begging- Kannon was made to appear weak. All the begging he did for Nissi was not attractive to me. What real man will do this much begging? I have not known one. I understand that this may be someones reality but I feel for them. No one should have to be put through this much torture knowing good and well she wanted him but was being very difficult.
*Being Difficult- I felt Nissi was difficult for no reason. That is all.
*Miscommunication- I hate it with a passion
*Place holders- I do not like when either the FMC or MMC dates someone who they really do not want while the one that they want is not available.
I didn't hate the book at all. It was an ok read for me. The miscommunication and the weak MMC with a stubborn FMC who was headstrong with a touch of arrogance is really what took the joy from me. The fact that they are playing tug of war the WHOLE book took me out. The story was written well as I didn't see a lot of errors. The story did flow as it was technically a slow burn with minor twists.
The book was a little iffy for me, let me explain. I really liked the book. Liked the concept, and even the characters in the beginning. The problem was the middle and end of the book. By the middle I wasn’t even rooting for the characters to be together and actually hoped it would end with them finding other people. By the end of the book I was confused because the writing style changed and it felt like one person started the book and another person ended it.
Overall it wasn’t a bad book to read I just wished I could have liked the characters more, and I felt the book could have also been shorter. With all that being said I would like to read the next book the author releases to follow the story line.
I really wanted to like this book. The first 68 pages were real good, then it took a left turn at alberqueque. The meet cute of the kannon and nissi was super cute. He was a firefighter who rescued her from a stuck elevator. She forgot his name so she enlisted TikTok to find him. His co-worker let him know she was looking for him and once they message back and forth, she wants to thank him by taking him out for dinner and drinks. They have a good time and the chemistry is great. They end up hooking up and this is where the book turns. We find out Kannon has a gf. Excuse me? Baking powder? Where did that come from? The rest of the book is a complete back and forth that I feel was unnecessary. They didn’t end up together until the end of the book. I think the story would have flowed better if they had decided to date after the first date, while also trying to navigate meeting on TikTok. Adding a gf to the mix was not needed. I do plan to read the next book in the series.

3.5 ⭐️ I’ve been wanting to read this one for a while and was so glad to receive it as a Christmas gift. The timing was perfect!!
The story starts off really good with our FMC, Nissi, getting stuck on an elevator and sexy fireman, Kannon, coming to the rescue.
LOTNF gives a very present day look at relationships. The kind you just stumble into, heavily influenced by social media and based 95% off lust 😂 Messy situations!
I loved the sibling ties between Nissi and her sisters, and Kannon with his brother. I appreciate that Kannon wasn’t the unicorn prince charming that’s typical in most romances. He was a real piece of work 😅 And I gave Nissi a fair share of side eyes. The story is entertaining but the romance wasn’t really giving because they spent more time apart than together!
Instead of being a true romance, I feel this story is more about navigating the dating scene and the journey of finding the right one! I believe this will be a new series and I will follow it through!
This book was very enjoyable. It’s a very modern voiced book and I loved Nissi’s banter with her sisters. This is a slow burn between Kannon a jaw dropping fire fighter who rescues our FMC Dr. Nissi Richards. We see Nissi in another relationship throughout the book, this was the hardest thing for me. I wanted to see her and Kannon and I wanted to see more of them. We only get sneak peaks in the beginning and even in the end it’s sneak peaks. I enjoyed this book but definitely wanted more. Maybe we will get a little Angela and Kinston action in a second book??🤔Thank you for this opportunity to read the book so early!
I would give 3.5 if I could but I can’t! This book was very cute. The slow burn romance, modern day analogies, and references were super cute. This books is about a dentist who gets stuck in an elevator, is rescued by a smoking hot fire fighter, and the (complicated) love story unfolds from there. If you enjoy tik tok references, there are many in there for you to enjoy! Only reason I rate 3 stars instead of 4 is because of the miscommunication trope which I am personally not a fan of (I apologize if that’s your favorite trope lol). Other than that the book was super cute, and a great quick and easy read! I really appreciate the opportunity to read your work so early!
I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. This is definitely a different love story, which is good! It's unique in its own way however it just wasn't for me. I enjoyed the beginning, especially getting to know Nissi, her career and her sisters. I was enjoying her boldness and reaching out to find Kannon!
After certain events it just got worse and worse for me. Between the arguments, being together and then not together, and being with other people, it just all became more of a headache that I didn't need right now unfortunately.
However…I love a slow burn…I think. It was enjoyable…very cute. But OH MY GOODNESS! Mistakes are made. Yes. But these folks. Phew. Had me round here bout to lose it!
Although I overall enjoyed this book, there were moments that I didn’t particularly enjoy. I’m a mild fan of the miscommunication trope, this was a little too much miscommunication for my liking. Getting to the plot took a little too long for me and some details in general could have been left out. The story overall is about a dentist named Nissi, she ends up getting stuck in an elevator and getting rescued by a fine fire fighter by the name of Kannon. She is so caught of guard by his handsome appearance, that she forgets is name and ultimately uses her tiktok social media platform to find him. She invites him to dinner, it’s love at first sight which leads to a walk on the beach and their 1st sexual encounter. Kannon then discloses he has a girlfriend and they are in an open relationship. This was the 1st communication error of many.
The book overall was navigating their relationship or lack there of. About trying to get back to their hearts while their bodies occupied others. Kannon and River exiting their two year relationship/situationship and him finding all the ways to get back to his soul tie Nissi. Nissi starts dating Benji and finding ways to settle and denying her feelings for Kannon. Her family even sees that Benji is not it. The end picked up pretty well, there some surprises. I did however find myself going back a few pages because I thought I missed something only to find the answer revealed pages later. A relationship between Kannon and Benji was revealed in away that made sense but the interaction was confusing until later. I didn’t like the fact they spent majority of the book part and didn’t really get back together until the last five pages. So much build up to say no then to say yes but that’s just personal preference.
I look forward to a Part two with Angela and Kingston. Thank you for the publishers for the ARC copy in exchange for review.

ARC REVIEW Aries Skye just soared straight into the clouds with this story. Love On The Ninth Floor is a beautifully written and revolves around the lives of Nissi and Kannon, two individuals who are magnetically drawn towards each other amidst a whirlwind of emotions and circumstances. The narrative is a complex web of lies, deception, and misunderstandings that result in missed opportunities. However, it's the comical and heartwarming romance that truly stands out, making it a must-read for all romance novel enthusiasts.
I loved this book and the vitality this story showed. Nissi and Kannon are portrayed with their undeniable, intense chemistry. They’re both vulnerable, facing rejections and heartaches, yet they yearn for their souls to be tied together and the magnetic pull between them is unequivocally undeniable, intense, electrifying and “urgent like a muthafukka”. Their story is not just about them but also involves their family and friends whose dynamics add hilarious shade and clap backs, that kept me entertained throughout.
The story never gives up on love, despite the rocky road it treads. It's a narrative that assures the journey of love, though not smooth, is worth every twist and turn and Aries Skye has done an exceptional job with her first novel giving readers everything and left them wanting for more. Aries owes me nothing except the stories of Angel, Aquila and Jovan - characters that have piqued my interest, leaving me eagerly waiting for their stories to be told.
Love On The Ninth Floor is a must-read for all those who love a good romance. It's a story that will make you laugh, cry and fall in love. So, if you’re looking for a book that will keep you engaged and invested, Love On The Ninth Floor should be on your reading list.
