Crack Private Investigator Katie Parson’s ex-Army Ranger partner, Dan Beck, has gone missing just as she takes on a case of homeless women being abducted from crisis centers.
Katie hunts to find Dan as they have a mysterious summons to come to Alaska to help an old friend. After someone tails her, the case seems far more complicated, and Katie fears she might be the next to go missing. Following the clues to Alaska, Katie runs from bears, crazy old prospectors, and dangerous enemies.
Physical cold matches the terror and weariness tearing at Katie as she struggles to do what she does best, find her way out of trouble. Katie must lean on her faith and find her PI mojo, or it will cost both Dan and her lives. Can she do it in time?
No reader deception here! S. A. Stacy’s “Deadly Deceiver” delivers the goods for which thriller fans clamor – intrigue, suspense, action, high stakes, twists. And last but not least, dynamic characters who behave like real human beings instead of stereotypical ciphers.
The novel abounds with welcome touches, including a dash of James Bondian plotting involving an insane megalomaniac who hopes to corner the market on nuclear brinksmanship. In a parallel plot, human traffickers scheme to continue their sordid trade in Washington state, but not if the good guys can help it.
Also, if you don’t care for swearing in your fiction, there’s none here. There is violence, but it is integral to the story and never gratuitous – in movie terms, the book would probably receive a PG rating. In addition, the novel unashamedly shows characters praying, as almost anyone would in the dangerous situations that crop up.
“Deadly Deceiver” is a perfect fit for thriller fans who like to settle in with a good read on a rainy afternoon.
Sherry Stacy did a fabulous job of keeping me in page-turner mode Katy Parsons did what she does best! Get into terrible situations and come out a winner! Of course Dan helps! Good job, Stacy!
A pleasant book and I love not having to “cover my ears” at coarse language. I also love that it’s set in our neck of the woods by my son-in-law’s mother. Keep writing, Sherry,
I really enjoyed this book, and it was even more suspenseful than the first. Great characters, and non stop suspense. I was sad that the author only has two books out so far
