Does April May have a new career as a ghost detective?
April is asked to find a missing man. The catch? It's a couple of ghosts who are her source.
She and Irma decide to take a trip to the beautiful town of Lavender Falls, where everything is not as quaint and carefree as it seems. Will they be able to find the missing man before it's too late?
Karen Sue Walker is a lover of cozy mysteries, from Agatha Christie to Joanne Fluke. When not working or writing, she spends time with her very talented daughter and ever so fun granddaughter.
Another wonderful tea shop mystery, this time in a neighboring town. New Town, New ghosts. I actually wish Lavendar Falls was real. I'd love to visit there!
Life is returning to normal in Serenity Cove. Although April May has vowed to give up her investigations, Pearl and George, the ghosts from her previous adventure, have followed her home.. They want her to investigate a missing person in the nearby beautiful and unique town of Lavender Falls. Since April must close the tearoom due to construction for the next week, she decides to explore the town and her friend Irma has agreed to accompany her. Lavender Falls is indeed lovely with some intriguing aspects and the town is populated by some interesting characters including the ghost of a stubborn old woman, who might just have sone helpful clues. Did April really think she was done with ghosts? When some of her friends from Serenity Cove join in the search and one goes missing, April is determined to discover the truth before someone gets hurt. Will her plans find the missing individuals before danger finds April? I’m so pleased that the series is continuing with some familiar names as well as new towns filled with some suspicious and dangerous residents. It seems that April May will next be visiting New Orleans and I’m sure that there will be a ghost or two who might have a mission for her. I will look forward to the next book with my favorites and a new location. This series just keeps getting better and I recommend my fellow cozy lovers give it a try. This is my honest review of an ARC I received from the author.
Tea is for Taken is another Karen Sue Walker mystery about April May and her friends inspired by a ghost.
The story takes April and Irma to Lavender Falls, a unique town five hours away they’ve never been to. April finds another ghost in a New Age shop run by sisters Lily and Rose called Lavender Moon who helps her search for a missing man the other ghost told her about. She learns his name is Bradley and he’s a realtor/psychic.
April and Irma stay at the Wisteria Lodge where April’s sparse room becomes magically beautiful at night.
They have tea at a quaint spot called the Tree Pot and Irma takes classes at the Culinary Alchemy Academy.
All the food and drink in all the restaurants tastes like lavender and the town smells like the lavender flowers that are blooming and everything is purple.
April buys new dresses for her and her coworker Jennifer at a shop called Amethyst Attire.
She also asks all around town trying to find Bradley including his ex-fiancé Charlotte, a pushy admirer Darla and another admirer Wacky Wanda.
Suddenly her friends Jennifer and Freddie from back home show up to help her after Jennifer is given a “sign” of words written in flour that April is in danger.
Will she be safe? Will she solve the mystery and find Bradley? Read this intriguing novel to find out?
Tea, friends, a road trip and a paranormal cozy mystery
Tea is for Taken is the 8th book in A Haunted Tearoom Cozy Mysteries series and it is a little more paranormal than the other books. April May owns a tearoom and she can see ghosts. Her friend Jennifer works at the tearoom. Irma is a neighbor and friend. There is construction on the street and the tea room has to close for a week so April and Irma go to Lavender Falls to search for a man who is possibly missing. While April tracks down clues, Irma goes to cooking classes which takes some of the fun out of sleuthing. There are some odd things going on with the people in town. Freddie and Jennifer show up to help out. Someone else goes missing. This is an enjoyable paranormal cozy mystery but it isn't as good as the other books. It just doesn't flow quite as well or kept my interest. If you enjoy this series you will still want to read this book to see what is going on with the characters. #TeaIsForTaken #AHauntedTearoomCozyMystery
Finding that she must close her tearoom due to a mail water leak, April May sees the problem as good news/bad news. Good news because she can rest for a bit, bad because she will be losing business. When her newest vaudeville ghosts tell her they are happy April is closed because they have heard about a missing person in Lavender Falls that they want April to investigate. After relenting, April and her friend Irma are on the road to hopefully relax in a new town while also looking for a missing person. What could go wrong? Upon visiting a small business April meets with two women who are also worried about the missing man thinking that he may be in danger. When April begins exploring this interesting town, she finds more than she bargained for. As for finding the missing person, it may take more than April’s skills will allow to find someone she has never met. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.
Pearl and George have come back to get April May's help. But they want her to travel several hours away to a town called Lavendar Falls where EVERYTHING is Lavendar, to try to find a missing man. But since they don't know that man's name, things are a little complicated. When Serentiy Cove decides they have to fix a water main thus forcing the tearoom to close, April May decides she might as well go. And Irma invites herself along. Can the cantankerous ghost of an old women help April May, or will she just talk in riddles? Lavender Falls is a rather...unusual town to say the least. April May's other friends decide to make a surprise visit too. Can April May figure out what has happened before anyone else goes missing?
As fate has it, April May has to close her shop due to the water in the area will be shut off for some town maintenance and construction. What a perfect time for the ghosts, Pearl and George from her previous adventure to have followed her home begging her to look into a missing man in the town of Lavender 5 hours away. Vowing to be through with ghosts, she was convinced by the ghosts bugging her and her friend Irma to take a trip to Lavender falls and just look into it. Reluctantly she agreed and it goes on from there with so many twists and turns and red-herrings we are taken on a fun romp throughout! Great characters! I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Another book in this lovely cosy mystery/ ghostly series. April May owns and runs a tea room in Serenity Cove. She can see and communicate with ghosts ever since she bought the business and found the ghost of the chef who worked there years before. Since he's been reunited with his first love, she is now seeing a pair of ghosts who tell her she's needed in Lavender Falls, a cute but strange town several hours drive away.
April and Irma arrive in Lavender Falls, and its clear things are a little strange there. April needs to fipnd Bradley, a town resident who has gone missing.
I think this was my favourite book in the series. The books are best read in order of publication to preserve the continuity of the characters and wider storyline.
Walker is improving with each installment of her Haunted Tearoom series. I think this is my favorite! April and Irma find themselves surrounded not just by lavender, but lots of trouble while visiting the quaint tourist town of Lavender Falls. (Honestly, I wish it were a real place - it has the potential to be a fun visit!)
With a few red herrings and a lot of yummy-sounding food, April bumbles her way to the solution of the missing person. But I can't forget the 'help' of a few overly-eager ghosts and townspeople. A fun, worth-while read.
I received this book as an ARC and so glad I did. With the usual cast of interesting characters (and a few new ones as well), a new location brimming with secrets, drama and a touch of humour, this story kept me highly entertained from the very beginning until the last page. It’s a whodunnit that will keep you guessing until the end. I highly recommend reading this book. It’s a great addition to this wonderfully entertaining series.
Love a good cozy mystery with characters that you want to keep seeing. In this series you make a lot of new friends that you want to keep meeting up with. The personalities of the ghosts are sometimes sweet, sometimes funny but always a treat. If you get hungry reading about the food being served, that's covered too. Recipes are given at the end of each book.
Please tell me that Lavender Falls is based on a real town!! Because that would be one to put on my bucket list - charming, quaint, sweet and decidedly quirky. And the people who live there? Even more so!
Another exciting adventure for April May who somehow gets roped into mysteries and dead bodies even though she is adamant that she is keeping out of things this time! Good read, as always!
Ghosts George and Pearl are described as being from the 1920’s and are still in costume from acting in “Guys and Dolls”, which wasn’t produced until the 1950’s. Introduced in the previous book as actors who the MC guessed had been killed while performing in “Guys and Dolls”, but still assumed they were from the 1920’s. This needs a fact check and edit.
I enjoyed this cozy mystery. It was a change from the sort of books I typically read, but I still found it heartwarming & I loved the recipes at the end of it. I especially liked the cat Whisk & his mischievous antics & the handsome dead French chef that no one else can see that gives the heroine cooking lessons. I read this book on Kindle.
This is a wonderful cozy in every way. The characters are delightful, the story is clever and entertaining, and there is a lot of humour. Just my type of book.
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.
I really enjoy these books, each one is so good and they keep getting better. I especially love the character interactions and personal development. Most excellent storytelling.
I really like this series. It's a very easy read and the main characters are very charming. April May and Irma take a trip to the enchanting Lavender Falls to look for a possible missing man. Because two ghosts told them to. Of course.
Another page turning story with April May and her ghosts. It’s very enjoyable reading about their antics and how some ghosts help solve the mysteries and some just cause extra problems.
Tea is for taken finds April May and friends in a magical vacation town filled with strange personalities, fun food and atmosphere. On the quest to find the missing Bradley you'll enjoy a great short cozy to brighten your day.
If you are into creepy things, then this book is for you. April and her friends go off to find a missing person in another town. I am looking forward to the recipes in the back though.
I've loved the other books in the Haunted Tearoom series but I wasn't too keen on Tea is for Taken. It was just so odd and not in a good way. Maybe given time and a re-read, I'll enjoy it much more.
The story kept me interested. But I miss the chef and hope there are not many other ghosts in future books. One was plenty for me. The live characters, of whom I've become quite attached, can carry the stories quite well on their own.
It's wonderful to relax at night and read books with characters you can relate to and connect with; an exciting story line; interesting, adventurous places; and no smut! I'm a fan!
This book started out absolutely MAGICAL! However, it ended very abruptly, with a lot of possibilities left hanging. So much more could have been explored! It’s a shame, a great offshoot series could have come from this.
Today I needed a little fantasy to get me through everything happening in my life.A trip to Lavender Falls was what I needed. April May didn't mind if I tagged along.
