The Black Hole

Rate this book
American military scientists have secretly developed a new weapon of mass destruction, capable of producing an artificial black hole in miniature - a tiny area of such dense gravity that everything, including light, is sucked into it. This can completely devastate a target area but leave behind no radiation. But at its first live demonstration, the US President watches in horror as the 'black hole' continues growing beyond its designated limits, and they watch a complete mountain range crumble to dust beyond the desert valley. He instantly orders the project to be cancelled, all data and records destroyed.Twenty years later, British Intelligence starts picking up disturbing information that a rogue terrorist cult called the Brotherhood of Azrael is planning a new series of spectacular attacks against the West.As attempts are made to infiltrate this mysterious group, a series of atrocities commences around the world. With capital cities resorting to panic evacuation, an even more terrifying threat begins to emerge. For the Brotherhood - 'the angels of death' - have got possession of America's darkest secret, and have it primed for total global destruction.

In the near future, a secret military weapons project is tested. When the president witnesses the test, and its near disastrous outcome, he orders all information about the project destroyed. Several years later, an anti-technology group with an activist wing tracks down the remaining fragments of that program and creates a weapon of mass destruction and displays the willingness to use it. This story focuses on the hunt to find and stop them before they can cripple the modern world, at the least.
A fast paced thriller that blends current technological capabilities with the conceivable what-if element about what could happen. Also the message of how it is not possible to put the genie back into the bottle. Appealed to the geek in me.

The Black Hole

It didn't take long for me to become part of the story. When I read a book, I can see it in my mind, it becomes real. Ray Hammond kept me enthralled with the story line. I could imagine this as a movie... maybe it will never get there, but I've already seen the movie in my mind. I'm ready to see what else Hammond has written. Incidentally, I was in law enforcement for 28 years, so my images I saw were really graphic, might not work for you!!

Fabulously fast paced and thrilling.

Sci-fi, "near future" thriller.
You will care deeply for your favourite characters.
Very interesting from a technological, environmental issues, moral choices and the scariest: humans and technology combined....
Definitely buy this book. You'll be gripped from the get-go. You will also end up with a lack of sleep until the last word has been read.

Tomorrow's Headlines Today?

Riveting, because it reflects where technology is taking us. I've wondered for years if the reason we were not upgrading our nuclear arsenal is because we discovered something more lethal, without the radioactive side effects.

This book makes you hope this isn't what's next, because in the wrong hands it will likely remove this quadrant of the galaxy out of existence as well.

Great read

This was a great story. I couldn't put it down. The one downer was that the editors desperately need to go back through the novel to fix the misspellings and incorrect words.

Exciting, easy reading.

The whole trans human concept was an interesting twist. The plausibility of the story line was thought provoking. Some of the physical fighting seemed a little over the top, but still held ones attention.

Good read with a refreshingly different premise

Well written as always. Good pace from start to finish. Realistic premise that makes it scarier for being more believable.

Very slow. Minor editing errors were a bit annoying, spell check doesn't get everything!
