I was interested in this book because of the high rating not because I’m a grunge music or Mudhoney fan. Overall, it was a rather dull memoir (like most memoirs) told mostly chronologically and without much tension or character development. I found some parts interesting like the discussions of record labels and skating culture in Seattle. And the stories around Kurt Cobain’s death were also ok. But these were a small part of the book.
I actually listened to this on audiobook and think it’s a bit of a shame that the audio medium wasn’t used to add music clips or the sounds that the author described. For instance, what does the big muff sound pedal sound like? I really wanted to know. It’s difficult to describe music in writing and adding music to this audiobook could have been amazing.
