Lucy Steele’s friends would describe her as unlucky in love. She would say her love life was an epic disaster.
Her first and only long-term relationship was with a man-child who had a Peter Pan complex. Things got decidedly worse when her next boyfriend turned out to be an identity-faking psychopath who used her to stalk her best friend. To say that it ended badly is an understatement. She did what she had to do to stay alive and keep her friends safe. She stabbed him.
Now Lucy finds herself in a holding cell, scared, alone and sick of being the victim.
Tom Harper is a sophisticated London nightclub owner famous in the kink world for his prowess as a Pleasure Dom. He has no interest in relationships until one fateful night in his club, their worlds collide.
But Tom carries a dark secret. He made a deal with the devil to protect his nightclub from the criminal underworld, and now he’s made a promise to a goddess to protect her heart.
To keep her alive, he has to keep her hidden.
Follow Lucy’s Story as she discovers newfound confidence and kinks in the arms of Tom Harper.
Can Lucy change her luck, and can Tom beat the devil at his own game?
This book contains adult themes and is intended for adult audiences only.
Romance, mafia, adult clubs, loyal girlfriends, lots of pleasure from a certain man named Tom….what more could a reader ask for?! I loved Lucy’s character because she was so relatable. Her diary entries spoke to my soul. I have some of the same insecurities as she does and it was refreshing to see that side of her character. Tom was the perfect alpha book boyfriend and he’s attention to Lucy’s needs was perfection. Looking for a new book boyfriend? Look no further.
This book will capture your heart and imagination from the very first paragraph. There were moments I cried for Lucy, with her and because of her.
Is finding love easy …nope….but should it be a nightmare?would you risk your life or that of others just so you can be happy ?
Poor Lucy has been through hell and back and then she spends time with Tom. Ohhhh I wish he was real every part of me wishes he was real. 🤭There are moments when heaven is real but hell is truth. Life is messy when others take what isn’t theirs. Lucys story will give you it all.
Ali writes words entwined in magic, she will grip your heart and twist your desires as her words sink into your soul. I hated having to put this book down, I was truly captivated by the story line it’s a true kinky delight to read and a sadness to finish I wanted it to go on forever. Following this series will leave you wanting more. It’s definitely higher than a five star read.
We med Lucy in Imogen’s Story where she was tricked and used by Mark so he had access to hurt Imogen.
Now we find out all about Lucy and her low self esteem issues due to past men who have told her she’s worthless and never appreciated her for her.
Enters Tom. He sees Lucy for who she is and has given her space after the “accident” with Mark (aka- stabbing the SOB, killing him, and saving her friends). But he is determined to get to know her.
Tom doesn’t date. He has needs and sees to them via a specialty club but he’s also mixed in with the Russian Mafia, so he’s focused on keeping business as usual. Until Lucy. He’s drawn to her more than any other woman and wars with his desire for her vs keeping her safe. Safe=No with him.
Lucy’s personal character development is phenomenal. She’s a highly relatable woman who just wants to move on with life and hope that one day she can trust a man enough to love him. But she has to love herself first.
Needless to say, Tom and Lucy both learn a lot about themselves (and each other) in this story!
Triggers and Tropes: Kink club scenes Group activities Violence with blood and assumed death Blindfolding and flogging Pleasure Dom (so hot!) Mafia violence Steamy love scenes
This is the second book in this series and I loved it! Little bit of everything including suspense, action, spice, lust and love…always entertaining! The spice in this was top notch and included a very attentive MMC that had a knack for detail! 🥰
To understand Lucy's Story, I'd highly recommend that you read Imogens Story first.
Now, let's get to the review.
Lucy is such a beautiful soul who has gone through so much pain and trauma. At first, she understandably struggles, but she is such a strong, brave, and resilient woman that she embraces her inner Phioenx rises from the ashes.
Tom helps her embrace her fantasies and allows her the safe space to open up and be vulnerable. Yes, they hit bumps in the road, but without the bumps, there wouldn't be the makeup smut we want and desire.
Like in Imogens' story, Ali captures beautifully the emotions and pain that trauma can cause someone. She also captures how easy it is for someone to mask how they truly feel, but with the right people around you, you can overcome anything.
Lucy is a lovely woman but has bad relationships one after the other. All she wants is for someone to give her the respect and love she deserves (hence, I can relate). Then comes along Tom 🥵🥵 Damn he is like a harder version of Christian Grey from 50 shades. The dude goes to sex clubs to explore his sexual side even more. His and Lucy's chemistry is on fire throughout this book. I even blushed myself 🤭. This series if you haven't read needs to be done in order as Lucy's story follows on from the scene at the end of imogen's story. I can't wait to get into the 3rd book
I had read Imogen's Story and consumed it within a day - a long time since I had done that. I immediately downloaded Lucy's story and got stuck in. Imogen's story was quite steamy early on, so I half expected it to be the case with Lucy's story. I was rather wrong! This was a gradual build, and very well described. I have a good picture in my head of how all the settings looked. My adrenaline was going with the dark and dangerous storyline and I loved how the intimate scenes descriptions were varied (some books just latch on to a singular word for male and female genitals and it gets tiresome). Oh and the counting thing? SO. HOT.
I am absolutely gutted to see that book 1 was released Feb last year and book 2 (this one) was released mere weeks ago. I'm going to have to wait another 11 months for the next installment! I'll be patient though, I hear good things come to those who wait!
What a captivating series this is turning out to be! Imogen’s Story was a fast paced, thrilling page turner but Lucy’s Story takes it to a whole other level! Ali’s beautifully descriptive style makes every page a joy. I can’t wait to see where Jess and Sarah take us. I just hope we don’t have to wait too long ❤️
Definitely love this book, I saw a bit of Lucy in me. Lucy had her ups and downs in love but as a Phoenix she rose up from the ashes and became a kick ass woman who found the love her life going through her personal drama.
Received an ARC of this, and i really enjoyed Lucy's story. Good amount of spice, mafia vibes, but not a mafia romance. Love Lucy's journey, and Tom is just 😍
I truly enjoyed this story, Lucy started Off as a victim of failed relationships to a Phoenix rising from the ashes of failed relationships to kick ass baddie!
The wonderful Ali Fischer is back with Book 2 of The Bookclub Series. We met Lucy & Tom in the first book, Imogen's Story, and it's safe to say Lucy did not have the best luck with men in that. We start this book with Lucy broken, and Tom having been struck by a bolt of lightning at having met her. However life is complicated, baggage weighs you down & self doubt will interfere with your best laid plans to move on with your life.
This story will take you through all Lucy's up's and downs as she picks herself up and tries to reinvent herself, but it will also make you yearn for Tom. This man! He's one of those men written by women that you hope exist somewhere in real life (I can confirm they do exist but they are rarer than hen's teeth). Tom is a dark golden retriever. He's a protective alpha good guy doing his best to keep his promises from his past without endangering the woman he wants to sweep off her feet and keep forever. He brings all the "touch her and I'll unalive you" vibes.
Oh and he's a pleasure dom with some serious skills... you will never regret reading this if only for chapter 20... just saying...
Content & Trigger Warnings
If you haven't discovered Ali Fischer yet, make sure you start with Imogen's Story as this starts immediately following the end of that. Both books are beautifully written and are a gorgeous combination of the English equivalent of small town romance paired with suspense and a little bit of thriller.
I am loving Ali Fischer’s Book Club Series, and already looking forward to the third instalment! Ali has changed POV from Imogen in the first book, to Lucy’s Story for the second - keeping this sequel new and fresh. Did I say fresh? Oh my word! There are many , many moments throughout the book that had me … shall we say, engrossed. But I had to reread one chapter to make sure I had understood. I had, so I read it again! I will never be able to play Pillowtalk by Zayn in the same room as my mother-in-law, ever again … but I have included it in my partner’s after supper playlist! Lucy’s playlist is a great idea by the way, and it is worth having Alexa at the ready. One or two of the men fail to step up (in the story I mean - they are brilliantly portrayed). Andrew is less than deserving and Mark, or Paul is wholly deserving of his comeuppance. But other guys are beautiful. Just beautiful. Oh my, Tom, you really are just beautiful. Maybe a bit aloof, vulnerable, ridiculously hot … I’m rambling, and dribbling. But for me, the most beautiful person in this tale is the flawed, brave, growing, hot Lucy. Or maybe Doris. This is an exciting, gripping, and beautifully written story. Highly recommended Ms Fischer, well done.
Love this series so much!!! Its so good to read a spicy romance with older characters in them. Lucy is an amazing character who is in all of us. It is fast paced and packed full of spice and drama. Unputdownable. Plus Tom the MMC is to die for.
This is a follow on to Imogen's story, she met Lucy and Sarah through her new job, Lucy was timid, reserved and quiet. But ended up involved with Imogen's abusive ex without even knowing.
This is from Lucy's pov, if you've read the first book then you will know she met Cameron's friend Tom, who is a club in London and as Lucy describes him, he looks like Thor 🥵
Lucy has a lot of trauma, self doubt and negative thoughts about herself, due to the men she met in her life, but as she spends time trying to "fake it till you make it", she meets Tom and takes a chance but it's still uncertain in herself.
Tom brings her out of herself and shows her how she truly deserves to be treated. But Tom has secrets! Will they be ok? Can they survive what he is caught up in? Can he trust her and likewise?
This story ripped my heart out at the start, I followed along nicely with the story, and was shocked at some of the revelations that I definitely didn't see coming.
You will seriously not be disappointed when reading this, it has spice 🔥 twists and turns. Romance and danger.
To get the full understanding of Lucy’s Story you need to read Imogen’s Story. — Lucy is a wonderful and beautiful character but she has been through so much pain and trauma. In the beginning she struggles and like a phoenix rising from the ashes, she shows everyone how strong and incredibly brave she truely is. With the help from Tom Harper Lucy is able to explore her fantasies in a safe environment. Something beyond her wildest dreams. Like Imogen’s Story Ali captivates the reader from page one, in a beautiful and thrilling way. This book will have you up all night! Ali knows how to truely make her characters come to live and she will have you through the ringer of emotions. This book gives anyone who reads it the empowerment to just go for it. I adore all Ali’s book club characters but Tom really had me sweaty while reading. I don’t doubt the rest of the series will be fantastic! 4.5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟 & 3.5 Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Don't mistake insecurities for immaturity reading imogens story. I felt Lucy was going to be a little immature, but boy, was I wrong. Getting over a traumatic past with Tom Harper with the mix of a sex club and mafia involvement was just what she needed.
Omg did i love this book 🥵❤️
Imogens' story was very much an insta love, so i expected the same sort of vibes between Lucy and Tom, but no no no this was a perfect amount of slow burn.
Tom Harper has stolen the show for me, and I think he is definitely a top 5 in the book boyfriend department.
This book just had it all sexy london nightclubs, touch her and die vibes, mafia, sex clubs, past trauma, found friendship, found family, forced proximity, and the spice was top tier.
Sarah is giving me Samantha vibes from sex and the city, and I can not wait to read her book. I want to join the book club where do i sign up 😍
What really struck me about this book (and the rest of the series) is that despite the obvious darkness in the world around them, the love and relationship of the main characters is so, so pure. The kinks in this book were explored beautifully, avoiding any sort of shaming of any kind- and I think all women deserve friendships like the Book Club have - i know i want one. This book is so well-written and I didnt want it to end, so I cant wait to get stuck into the next one to catch up with what is going on with Imogen and Lucy now. The series gets better with every book
This gripped me, the journey that Lucy went through, I loved that we got to see each stage of her healing.
The emotions in this story will grip you and you won’t want to put it down. Lucy went through something traumatic and this leads her to want to start fresh and become someone stronger. I found this inspiring.
Tom is a god, nickname: Thor and let’s be honest. Who would not fall in love with him. He fell hard and quick for Lucy and wasn’t afraid to show it! I loved that he brought the best out in Lucy, however he has his own secret which could put Lucy at risk.
If you love billionaire romance, with twists, mafia, spice and lots of emotion. This book is for you.
This is a book of two halves. The first half is slow and had me waiting for the story to start, I wondered where all the spice was. It took a long time to get there. Then there is part two. The sex club and the real introduction of the mafia storyline, both of which I feel could have been 'more' I felt it didn't quite live up to my expectations from the blurb. Maybe that's on me, but it all seemed a bit rushed, and then it was over, and I was left wishing there was more. More of the mafia story, more sex, and more of Club K, which certainly deserved more time in the spotlight.
Lucy and Tom are fire! This book shows us an FMC who goes through a huge development and grows as the story unfolds. This is a standalone but works better after you have read the first as there are major spoilers. I think I loved Lucy and Tom even more than Imogen and Cameron.
Ngl this couple need a full trilogy. One book with them just isnt enough.
Ali has a way of writing that just pulls you in and leaves you breathless. It's open, explorative, s3xy, full of heart and heat. And it's delicious. Genuinely gutted to finish reading this book and I am hoping they feature more throughout the rest of the series.
Tom, what an absolute fire cracker. I cannot get enough of this MMC. I have an absolute obsession with pleasure dom MMCs and think he's pure fire.
Loving this series, Ali & her talent with words & storytelling so much. I will forever be a fan of her writing and can't wait to follow her author journey.
Ali has done it yet again!! Another page turner that kept me up till the early hours! Stalkers, mafia, adult clubs that cater to your every need and a man who is so hot he makes me melt!! Lucy, although she wouldn’t believe it, is strong and resilient and what all of us would like to think we’d be if it came to love and protecting those we love! Tom..well let’s just say that if he were real my hubby would be in real trouble. The spice is off the charts and again I felt like I was right alongside them, going through it all. I will literally read every word Ali ever writes!! You will not regret reading the book club series! If you haven’t read Imogen’s story..read that first and fall in love with the strong and amazing women of the book club ❤️
