The conclusion to this action packed trilogy is finally here. We started with the trio, Alec, Christine & Danny. A botched plan, a case of amnesia, lovers, lies, deception, shootouts and so much more. That was only the beginning, slowly getting to the truth which is revealed in the circle. If you forget what happened in the first two books this one does have a slight reminder of events. A wild and twisty ride happens in this non stop mystery set around these criminals. Your questions finally get answered and we know more of Danny, Alex and Christine story. Hold on, this is a bumpy ride. I truly enjoyed figuring out the puzzle that is this triangle. Told in multiple POVs.

I’ve been dying too read this story and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Alec, Christine and Danny have been through so much and it seems more danger is around the corner again. Alec, Christine and Danny are stronger then ever but someone wants them turn apart. The twist, holy shit I honestly didn’t see that coming. Another amazing story by this dynamic duo. The perfect ending too an amazing series. Definitely characters I will never forget.

The narration pulled this up to a 4 (only because of Luke Jackson who is brilliant. But the other two, including the author McClain under his pseudonym - I mean book 3 and shes mispronouncing the main characters last name who is supposed to be the love of her life.. and he still can't do any accent that doesn't all sound like some weird pseudo Australian Scottish hybrid. ironically the New Zealand guy finally sounded like the South African guy but I mean, ...c'mon) but the story for me was a 3.5. mostly because of how much I love Julie's writing and this wasn't it.

The story. Yeah any fam knows all about how long it took to write this book (I'd heard interviews and of course the infamous EOBS) And how Mr McClain got interrupted multiple times from finishing this book with life and movies and screenplays.

And boy that disconnection comes through. The plot is all over the freaking place, that is to be expected if not desired. But what isn't (at least for me seeing as I'm the only person on here who hasn't given a five-star rating) was how much this read like an action hero screenplay. Looking at you McLean

There are so many obvious "influences" from movies referenced that you can literally pull the moments out of half your favorite hip suspense thrillers. Goodfellas, pulp fiction, usual suspects, reservoir dogs... And of course the Orient Express. Aaand pretty much every freaking Bond film villain ever.

There were many times in this book where I literally - like Danny - angry screamed aloud what the f*** is going on?!

There was a point where it's like oh s*** is this going to be one of those stupid everything is just a dream or a concussion fever because WTF (again say that in Danny's voice - especially if you listen to the narration)

It was just strange with the deviations and side plots which weren't really anything but what felt like ideas that didn't get finished. Not like intentional red herrings to pull you out of the plot like a murder mystery, but like little blips of unfinished writing.

And then the whole concept of falling which kept coming up again and again throughout the series was lightly touched on but then not. Because one of the pivotal parts in the books is how Alec discovered he was in love by throwing the girl off the bridge. Mentioned in all three books. And yet not at the ending of this book.

And I laughed so freaking hard with the literal here's my disclaimer section of this book where I can't remember if it was Alec or Danny talking to you about how everything is not going to be wrapped up in a bow. How you're not going to get your questions answered etc. (Like what was the deal with the way Lars was killed? who actually did it and if it's the one that they say did it - why? it's so out of context with who they are and how they do their business - just what? McLean had an idea he wanted to throw in a book and hadn't used yet. Likely)

Then why go for it?
It felt half-assed .
Like the characters, do it. Or don't do it.

But in the end how could you not fall in love with these guys?

It is rare these days to find a book that is so unusual with characters that are so well developed that you feel like they're hanging out with you the entire time you're reading the book. For that experience it's a five star

But overall it just felt so unnecessarily o t t and trying way too hard where the first books didn't.

And the whole ending just felt so flat, watered down and aimless to me. I thought for sure the couple that came up to Christine on the beach we're going to be assassins. Maybe that was in the works but then got bypassed for the "here's your HEA" wrapped up in a freaking bow because I don't feel like writing this anymore / got to pander to the lowest common denominator of the readers bs.

And while I was glad the HEA was there because like you dear reader of reviews, I wanted them all to be together. As if any of those three would settle down into a quiet life. Maybe there's another book out of that somewhere but I doubt it would ever get written except as fanfiction.

Anyhow, I love this series so much that is one of the few that I actually own so I guess that's saying something.

As usual the narration in this book was so freaking good it's beyond the five stars. Except for cringy moments where Mr Jonathan McClain as Alec kind of lost the plot a bit and his South African accent, like in the second book, became some sort of Scottish, Southern US melange. Maybe that's where the idea for Alexandra and her weird accent came from?

Anyhoo I will truly miss the (accurate) South African accent of Luke Jackson as Alec.

At least I go to wonderful new narrator to hunt down for new books so bonus right there

This wonderfully epic ending to the Shape of Love series was well worth the wait! This book left me breathless. It was heart stopping, heart pounding, heart wrenching and I could not put it down. Each of the main characters and their inner ramblings are beyond entertaining. They are life changing, hilarious at times and brutally honest with themselves. All while holing on to hope. If you think you know where this is going, or how this will end - no you don't. To me that is the beauty in this book. So many twists and turns you don't know which way is up, which way is down or how to move forward - except to keep reading! Dark at times, bloody and unapologetic. This book was everything. They did a beautiful job bringing the triangle that is Alec, Christine and Danny full circle, pun intended. Such a great read!

I'm not sure I can write a review that adequately sums up all the feels that I have for this book. But I'll try.

The Circle is the third and final book in The Shape of Love series, and I had been waiting patiently for it for a little while. It was so good to slip back into the dirty world of Alec, Christine, and Danny.

This book gives us all the answers we have been waiting for and I was NOT ready. All my guesses were wrong. Usually I can kind of be in the ballpark, but nope. Not here. This book is suspenseful, sexy, funny, action-packed, and emotional. There were moments that really touched me.

I read this book very quickly and I will read it again, most likely by listening to the audio because the first two audiobooks were so good.

Read this book and see how Alec, Christine, and Danny go from a Triangle, to a Square, to a Circle, in the Shape of Love.

Danny is one complicated man. Alec is one mind boggling man. Christine is one exceptional woman. They have a connection that is out of this world. They have a ton of baggage between them all. Could not put this book down. What an amazing ending. For such a complicated beautiful love story.

Emotional, action filled. Everything is said and done. The Circle kept me in a crazy state, where I couldn't stop reading, but at the same time, I didn't want to reach the end and say goodbye to the characters.
I how to the duo Huss/McLain, their peachy pace, bantering, and humor that dripped throughout the story.
Great achievement!

What an ending!!!! The Circle is everything I could've asked for and oh so much more. Johnathan McClain took most of the reins this time around and wrote a heart-stopping adventure I could not put down.

The journey for Alec, Christine and Danny will forever be one that is beyond irresistible for me. Their connection is life-altering in many ways yet it is the one tether they can't completely sever. No matter what happens to them, whether it be separately or together in whatever configuration that might be, each of them comes first in their actions and their thoughts, every single time. Sure there are plenty of times of doubt. Times of incredible strife. But through all the danger, the betrayal and the seemingly never-ending struggle to find their way to some semblance of real peace once and for all, this trio stays loyal even when perhaps they shouldn't.

We pick up the story right where we left off in The Square, a race against time in order to save two important people, one very much so for Alec. Most of these chapters are in the past, McClain cleverly acting somewhat as a narrator of sorts for what occurs. Then interspersed are chapters in the now, where we get a glimpse into the hopeful HEA that our throuple deserves but I was never quite sure if it might just be wishful thinking on the parts of Danny, in particular. I had to wait patiently to find out.

There are plenty of nail-biting scenes as peril seems to exist around every corner but it's always a thrill getting to watch our trio somehow handle every freaking bump in the road that awaits them. I am forever in awe of Christine and her bad-a$$ ways, as well as the hardened Eliza, no matter how much it may be awkward to have her around. In fact, the way they all perform even when it seems a bit sloppy and desperate, Alec, Danny, Christine and Eliza handle themselves like pros in spite of what feelings they each have and know they need to bury deep for that moment.

I won't give any more away since once again, The Circle like it's predecessors is a book that must be experienced for one's self. You must read this book AFTER finishing The Triangle and the Square. It's quite a complicated journey and one that is extremely intricate and gorgeously well-written. The way the story flows ever so well is a true testament to both McClain's and J.A. Huss's talent for such brilliant narrative.

Go forth and get lost in this extraordinary caper and the deep love and admiration Alec, Christine and Danny have for one another. You'll be forever thrilled you chose to experience such a fabulous trilogy with The Circle THE perfect way to say farewell.

5 huge stars!!!

The Circle is the long-awaited conclusion to The Shape of Love trilogy. Alec, Christine, and Danny are back together again. We picked up right after The Square. The trio needs to repair their unique relationship. In addition, they need to figure out who is behind all the chaos getting in the way of their happily ever after. It isn't an easy road to travel.

This trio isn’t your normal hero and heroine. They steal and murder, and love each other. They finally recognize that they are better together than apart. Recognizing how they fit allows them, especially Danny, to understand their relationship and how they fit together in their triangle. However, they need to admit to, reveal, and investigate their secrets. At the end of The Square, I wasn't sure I liked Alec. By the end of The Circle , I'm crazy about him, and I forgive him with Christine and Danny.

I love this exciting conclusion that has everything that I expected and more. Nonstop action, fast-paced, unexpected twists, and HOT sexy scenes. I loved getting in their heads as they revealed betrayals, pain, and the underlying love that defines them. I hurt as their pain was revealed, especially Christine’s.

The Circle is a satisfying ending for Alec, Christine, and Danny. I look forward to the next collaboration between JA Huss and Jonathan McClain. They are perfect collaborators. Each author has a beautiful gift for telling a story, and they each highlight the strengths of the other.

As a side note: I listened to the first two books as a refresher right before I received The Circle. The narrators are wonderful, even at 2X speed. I can’t wait to add The Circle's audio to my collection. I will listen as soon as it is available.

MFM MF MM

Note: The Circle is not a standalone. It will not make sense or flow properly without the background in the two previous books.

The Circle by J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain is the third story in a remarkable series. The Circle is a continuation of the story of Christine, Danny, and Alec that was introduced in The Triangle and expanded in The Square. For me this series exhibits the shape that love can take and among these characters the initial shape was a triangle, but as time evolves and more people come into their lives the shape of love changes to a square and then finally a circle. Each character grows and evolves as the shape of their love is fluid with the addition of new people and the loss of some as well.

For me this story showed that life never goes as planned and you need to adapt and evolve with the unexpected situations life throws at you. Someone you may just tolerate could make a huge sacrifice for you or someone you love could betray you.

There were lots of twists and turns in this third book and I loved trying to solve the puzzle as I read each chapter. Most of the time my puzzle solving skills were lacking when compared to the minds of Julie and Johnathan in the clever tales they spin. The best parts for me were Eliza in the castle (sorry no spoilers) and the ending. The shape of love is what we make it. Well done, Julie and Johnathan.

*** The Circle is book three in the Shape Of Love trilogy and must be read after The Triangle and The Square. This review may contain spoilers if you are not yet caught up in the series. ***

Alec, Christine and Danny are so close to "the end" that they can feel it.

Is life after heists and assassins possible? They hope they can live to see it... but first, there is some lingering business that needs to be finished...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Circle was the long-awaited conclusion to the Shape Of Love trilogy. A relationship of three, which has ebbed and flowed, but now that Alec, Christine and Danny are together again, will they find they happy ever after that they deserve?
I loved the way that this story ended, and the natural progression of a relationship between three people was vastly interesting. Alec, Christine and Danny were all intriguing characters in their own rights, and each and every one of them was focused and seriously tough. I enjoyed the suspense and the little bit of mystery that they are on the precipice of discovering with each extra tidbit of information they uncover.
This book was a good read, but it took me quite a bit of time to get into it. In fact, the last 25% of the book was where it started to get really good. This was where the endless action happened and, of course, the conclusion that we have been waiting for. All in all, the Shape Of Love trilogy was an interesting, and at times very sexy, read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
It’s so difficult not to gush over this book without giving any spoilers. I recommend that you reach the first two books: The Triangle and The Square.
The Circle is the third and last of the Shape of Love series. We have been presented with the perfect ending, period. Fair warning, expect the unexpected. Alec, Christine & Danny (“that’s how you say their names”) along with “forced” upon friends go on a mission to search for a missing link to their forever union. Sacrifices will made, compromises will be reached to ensure we have the perfect HEA.
Alec himself out of sorts for the first time in his life and makes decisions based upon what he thinks is the best course of action for everyone, it backfires; Christine is confronted with her past and she quickly needs to adapt and make amends for the mistakes she has made and; Danny, is always Danny, the rock you can lean on, the lover who would go to any extend to preserve his family and the partner we all wish we had.
This books is a page turner so please give yourself time because you will no be able to stop. Be prepared for unexpected twists, rapid plot changes, lots of romance and o couple of tears now and they. This book delivers that and much more.
The Circle is finally here, and man, what a climatic conclusion to Alec, Christine and Danny’s story! All the questions that have been lingering in my head ever since that final page of The Square have now all been answered, and I am blissfully happy with this finale.
Alec, Christine and Danny, because that is how you say it, once again spend most of this story dodging bullets, racing against the clock to rescue Andra and Theo, and try to figure out who orchestrated this whole fokken bull kak mess in the first place. Christine is trying to get her memory back and the three reconnect with each other and get their triangle back into alignment.
There’s twists and turns, mystery people calling the shots, the Watsons, being the Watsons, and the ORIENT EXPRESS! Oh, and some sexy times along the way, can’t forget those! Secrets kept are revealed, past wrongs brought to light, revelations broadside us, and all the while Alec, Christine and Danny are running headfirst toward a future that feels unattainable, all the way until the very end. But is it?
Strap in tight for this fast-paced ride. It has everything you’ve come to expect in a Huss/McClain production!
Authors J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain’s long-awaited conclusion to their Shape of Love series has been released! The Circle follows the The Triangle and The Square, and this is a series that needs to be read in order even though there is plenty of backstory added to The Circle. Until reading The Circle, I didn’t realize how much I had been missing Alec, Christine and Danny.
Through both the story plot and the characters’ inner dialogue, each character is stripped raw to reveal their fears and hopes. Just as the authors have hooked you back into these characters’ lives, the action takes off. From there the pace proceeds like a bullet train to its final destination with nonstop action, twists and passion.
A ménage à trois thriller series that proves that sometimes the family you choose is better for you than the family you're born into.
I was really disappointed by the ending. It was so predictable. It really bothered me how the writing down played Alec's betrayal. I read a lot of dark romance so I am no stranger to toxic relationships however this one was just poisonous. The first book Christine and Alec pressured Danny into a poly relationship that he did not want. Of course he eventually gave in because he really loved Christine and would do anything for her. Danny is the hero of the story and he isn't perfect but it was really disappointing that he wasn't more bothered when he learned of what Alec did to Christine. Alec did not love Christine, he just used her to get to Danny. The following will have some spoilers so be advised...
Everything Alec did was selfish and I could never get over what he did. The only possible way he could of redeemed himself is if he died. Usually even in toxic relationships I can feel for the characters but I didn't even feel bad for Danny when he lost his eye. Overall I just felt very underwhelmed and unsatisfied with the ending.
Well, I didn’t see that ending coming. Talk about action and spice and plot twists, oh my!
This trio of characters goes into bat for each other. Each trying to put the others first. This relationship has grown and endured some pretty intense situations. But there’s always been the secrets and half-truths hanging over their heads. Well, it’s all ironed out in this last book.
Ava, Tad, and Luke continue to hit all the marks with humour, heat, and heart. We get yet another accent in this book too. There was one point where Luke flips between American, South African, Irish, British, and now Danish too! It’s impressive. The voice acting is top-notch. I love when Danny gets so exasperated because Tad just smashes that dialogue. And Ava gives us all the relationship dynamics with both her love interests.
So if you’re looking for an unconventional love story with characters you just root for, pick up the SHAPE OF LOVE series. You’re not gonna regret it, trust me!
Back when I finished reading The Square, my mind was scrambling with potential scenarios regarding The Circle. But when that cliff-hanger induced brain-fog receded, I set those thoughts aside knowing full well that I was wasting my time. And I was so right. Having just experienced The Circle, I couldn’t have begun to imagine the twisty, emotional tale that would unfold. Or, that we would get such a deep dive into Alec, Christine and Danny, and come to understand how…
I absolutely loved this story! It’s a well written, suspenseful tale told via multiple POV’s and flashbacks. There’s plenty of drama, angst, some humour, mystery, and conflict, along with some explicit sex. I’m definitely looking forward to more stories from this talented team!
The conclusion to the Shape Of Love Trilogy.... Oh Sheesh I have needed this book!
The previous two books have been filled with mystery and angst, heartache and hope and don't forget the attraction and passion!. And every time I think I have it all sorted in my head, that I know what's what - I don't!
And I absolutely love when a book can torment me yet keep me glued and this is that book!
Alec, Christine and Danny (that's how you say their names 😘) are still together but with so many secrets, so much angst and so much against them, it really makes you question how on earth they'll get through it all!!
It's filled with passion, twists and turns, secrets, love, hope, buckets of angst and more twists and turns!.... It has it all and I loved it!
Congrats Johnathan and Julie.
This was the ending we were all hoping for. A good end for a great series. The authors did a great job capturing the feel of the throuple.
Alec, Danny, and Christine finally get their ending. I do have to say that there are quite a few twists and turns, but would you expect anything less from McClain/Huss? Some surprises will leave you in shock! I know it did me. The way they became a circle is heartwarming.
One reference made me crack up. Laurel & Hardy. I am in my 50s so I know who this duo are and what roads they paved for comedy. I just wonder how many young people have to Google who they are LOL.
I really can't say more, because I will give away spoilers. So to sum it up. It is the perfect ending for the trio and is a must-read. You have to read the first two books, or you will not be able to follow this book.
Alec, Christine, and Danny. Through books one and two they have built a relationship that works for the three of them, changed it up, then blown it to hell. Now they come together to take down the big baddie behind so much pain. Nonstop action dominates the pages but in between we get to know the grown up version of this trio still entitled antiheroes that you can’t help caring about. As desperate as this tale can be a bit of dry wit or outright funny will pop up at the most unexpected time, another reason I love to frequent these authors. And after the twisty edge of your seat battles the feelings of worry, hope, love, hate, gratefulness, revenge and so many others that have assailed you in this journey linger on as a great big smile blooms across your face.
It has been well worth the wait to receive the stunning conclusion to this series. The fact alone that is a Huss-McClain collab makes it that much sweeter.
Christine, Danny and Alec are the trifecta that have endured together and apart. They are the constant in this fast paced sexy thriller. The intensity of their relationship and the dynamic each character brings, I truly felt like I was watching an incredible action-suspense movie. The cinematic quality to this story made it impossible to look away.
All of the running, all the mystery that surrounds the diamond and all the secrets come to light. Each character willing to fall on their sword for the others. Who survives and completes the Circle?
This series gets 5 action packed stars! So many twists and turns! Steamy and a tremendous thrill ride!
I snuck in a re-read of the second book, The Square, before reading this conclusion. Although not necessary as the authors provide the details, I enjoyed the refresh on the emotions tied to the events. As with the first two books, this one is also told from all three of the main characters' points of view since each relives memories of the past that impact their respective presents. Our authors do a masterful job of uncovering answers to so many burning questions they created. Sorry to be vague with details, but I don't want to spoil the reading experience for anyone!
This book surpassed my expectation by bringing Alec, Christine and Danny's story full (appropriately) circle in a fantastic conclusion!
Mr.McClain Nailed It!!!
Let me say, Johnathan not only gave us the conclusion to The Shape of Love story, but he delivered it with such a great deal of detail in the story, he filled us in on Christina’s missing memories, he gave Liza and her brothers more depth and he still gave us all of the twists and turns that we come to expect in a Johnathan McClain & JA Huss story ♥️
Danny and Christina are going to get Alec back to complete their triangle once more, they enlist the help from the past and Christine has to set aside her emotions to work with Liza and her brothers.
This conclusion gives us all the passion, suspense, action and thrilling twists and turns that ultimately makes the triangle complete once more with a hea 💛🖤💛
This book… this series… omg, words can’t even describe how much I loved Julie and Johnathan writing together.
This story being the last one in the Shape of Love series (by Johnathan) was better than I imagined it would be (and considering how amazing the first two books were, that’s something else).
I absolutely loved how much of a rollercoaster journey all these guys went on. I loved the fact they all stayed together, and after everything they’ve been through, I’m so glad this book turned out the way it did. Alec, Christine and Danny have become some of my favourite characters. They have broken my heart, kept me on the edge of my seat, made me gasp and cry out just to bring me back together again in time for them all to be whole again.
This last book was simply great to read.
Alec, Christine, Danny...
....for that is how you say our name. This was the perfect conclusion to the Shape of Love series. I really didn't know what to expect, except greatness from these two (like always), but this was pure perfection. You get a great story that makes your mind turn and stays with you long after the last page. These three are in my top two favorite trios. If you are on the fence about giving this trilogy a read...do it! You will not be disappointed. When Julie and Johnathan come together, it really is magic. These books are not the fluff you read because you love to read, these are the books that make you love to read!
The Shape of Love trilogy comes to a conclusion in the same way it started. Heart pounding action. Twisty AF turns and wonderfully steamy. In like a lion and out like a lion and roaring all the way through. I'll be honest and say if you haven't read The Triangle and The Square, you might still enjoy this, but you won't get all the amazing nuances this story has. If it's been a long time since you've read the first two, a re-read should be in order because, well, they are that darned good. No spoilers, so there's not much more to add except to say this writing duo brings it all to the table with this series.
