Despite being a rising star in the BAU unit, FBI Special Agent Hailey Rock still lives in the shadow of her older sister, who remained in their small Midwestern town to become a police sheriff, and who remains the favorite in their parents’ eyes. Hailey has not thought of her estranged family in ages, but when bodies are discovered in abandoned haunted houses in farm fields, Hailey must work with her sister to get past the haunted lore, and to catch a sinister serial killer eager to strike again.

Judging You by Rylie Dark is… fine. It's your standard FBI-thriller setup — Agent Hailey Rock returns to her hometown to solve a murder tied to some haunted property. It moves and the pacing’s solid if you're just looking for something to burn through. The twists are decent — I'll give it that. A few genuine surprises, and the whole thing's readable enough. The relationship between Hailey and her sister adds a little emotional weight, which helps break up the procedural formula. But let’s be honest- this is a very by-the-numbers thriller. The haunted house angle feels like it’s been recycled from a dozen other crime dramas. The writing isn’t bad, it’s not memorable either. If you like predictable FBI stuff with a touch of creepy atmosphere and you’re not expecting literary depth, it’ll do the job. But if you're after complex characters or anything that challenges the genre, this one’s not it.
FBI vs local enforcement yet again. Hailey Rock and her partner are still in town investigating when another string of bodies turn up. Both sisters are independently investigating their younger sister’s disappearance years ago. Older sis has a suspicious character under surveillance and doesn’t share info with Hailey. An intervention is staged to try and firce the susters to work together. Hailey finally gets dumped by her old high school flm and is much relieved. Will he finlly give her new partner a chance t more?
I'm loving this series. However, I am disappointed and appalled at the amount of grammar and other mistakes! I have at least 5-10 screenshots of errors. From wrong words used We instead of me or I, to grammar errors! It made for difficult reading in some areas trying to figure out what was trying to be said! Find a new editor to do a proper job.
The author needs to read her last story before she puts together the next one. She forgets to what she writes, it really gets to confusing from book to book. They ask the ready to leave a nice review and to not be mean or say bad things. I will always write a honest review.
This series is still interesting and the plots are full of twists and turns. The sisters are still warring and doesn't seem like they will ever be comfortable with each other but progress has been made. Even after 5 books, the plots seem fresh and the pages fly by.
This story was a little bit weirder than her others. The story of bullied kid who saw ghosts during once bulling event who then turns his tormentors into ghosts had promise. The addition of a haunted house could have made it even better. The execution left a lot to be desired.
