I am really enjoying this series and I think this is one of my more favourite reads so far. Now, book five in the series, I did wonder how the writer would keep the stories varied: this time, Holly Berry is on holiday in the south of France, leaving her sweet shop behind her. Despite loving the sweet shop setting, it was really refreshing to see the protagonist escape the daily grind of running her business and giving herself some well-deserved “me time”.

I have probably said this before but I will say it again: this is a series that you need to read in order. It’s the only way I think you can truly appreciate the different relationships in the books and, in this case, there are a couple of romantic interests from the past that need navigating. By this point in the series, Holly has had her little baby, Hope, and is now a single mother still running her sweet shop business. I liked how the writer shows Holly’s struggles with adjusting to this new way of life, as well as juggling co-parenting with Ben. I am really intrigued to see what happens with their relationship in future books.

However, with the opportunity of going on her friends joint hen and stag do, Holly sees this as time to relax and unwind. I enjoyed seeing how Holly felt so confused and anxious about leaving her daughter behind and I think Lynn really captures a mother’s anguish over this! Supporting Jamie and Finn, Holly meets Finn’s friends – including the gorgeous Evan. A holiday romance starts to blossom between the two over a very short space of time, but is this serious? And what about Ben and Hope back at home? When a familiar face arrives in France, this sends Holly into even more of a spin.

I really enjoyed how unpredictable Holly’s love life has become. Initially I was frustrated by how difficult things had become with Ben, but now the writer has embraced Holly moving on, I cannot foresee what is in store for Holly in the next book. To be honest, I can’t wait to read what happens next and I will determinedly avoid the blurb so as not to give anything away!

The setting was a welcome change to the book and this meant that Holly was out of her comfort zone of the sweet shop. This book really gives off holiday vibes, making it the perfect beach read. Indeed, my feet were itching with the travelling bug reading this book, showing the escapism it provides.

Light-hearted and fun with a good sprinkling of romance, I loved seeing Holly Berry on holiday and the romance that develops. I have really warmed to her character and am looking forward to what is next in store for her.

With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Sunny Days At The Second Chances Sweet Shop' by Hannah Lynn.

Read and reviewed for Hannah Lynn, Boldwood Books, Book & Tonic, NetGalley and Rachel's Random Resources Tours.

Publication date 1st September 2023.

This is the first book I have read by this author. It is also the fifth book in the 'Holly Berry Sweet Shop' series but can be read as a standalone.

This novel consists of 54 chapters. The chapters are short in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book has fantastic descriptions that set you straight in the scenes. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.

Where the heck have you been hiding all my life Hannah!!! Love, LOVE, LOVED this absolutely gorgeous page turner!! An absolute must read!!!

OMG!!! I absolutely LOVED this gorgeous page turner and I cannot WAIT for the next  book in this series to come out along with getting stuck in to all the previous books!! They are just guaranteed to be stunning!! I will admit that I was expecting more about Holly's sweet shop considering that is the series name but this one is based on her going to France for a joint hen and stag night. However, there is mention of something that happens at the sweet shop so it is mentioned and to be fair if she never left her sweet shop it would be a very boring series!! It just so happens that I started this series on the book where she is away from it and all its made me do is want to go back and get stuck in to the previous books in this series. In this book Holly is off to France to join her friends on a joint hen and stag do and OMG Hannah's stunning evocative writing skills really does bring the villa, France and the characters to life. I absolutely adored being swept off on holiday and was so absorbed that on the rare moments I looked up it took me a while to realise I was in Wales at home and not in France on a boat or in a villa!!! The storyline is stunning and is ram packed with friendship, romance, old flings, parenthood, holidaying, fun and is an absolutely stunning escapism read!!! There is a mention of the sweet shop which I'm looking forward to previous books to go back to explore it but I just adored this book and loved everything about it!!! This is one of those books that are very easy to read and perfect for any reading situations whether you are laying on a beach or curled up in front of a fire. It is an absolutely ideal read for anyone who is looking for a gorgeous and relaxing read that will have you hooked from beginning to end. I absolutely LOVED the realism of this storyline which made it so easy to picture everything that was going on which had been helped by Hannah's fantastic evocative writing skills. I cannot wait to get hooked into more of Hannah's books so I hope she is busy writing her next one while I get stuck into the previous books in this stunning series!! This is definitely one of those books that will turn a frown upside down and make life seem a lot brighter. Grab your copy today and fall in love with The Holly Berry sweet shop series today!!!

Well done Hannah on an absolutely stunning and perfect addition to what promises to be a gorgeous series!!!

This may be the first book I have read by Hannah but I cannot wait to get hold of more books by this extremely talented author!!!

It is always worrying when starting a new series as you have no idea who the characters are. It is very important for me to bond with not only the lead protagonists but also any characters that may make repeat appearances during the series too.

Although this is the fifth book in the series I had absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

The characters were all an eclectic mix and each one of them were realistic and strong. I was completely invested in them all. It also makes them more realistic, believable and made me feel even more for them than I normally would. I absolutely adored Holly who is just such a likeable, friendly and amazing woman. She is a single mum to 8 month Hope and is anxious about leaving her for the first time to go away for her friends hen break. As a mum myself I could completely relate to her about leaving your child for the first time and Hannah's evocative writing really brought her to life. Holly co-parents with her ex Ben who I actually really liked which surprised me. Normally the ex boyfriend is made out to be a complete pillock and horrible person but I love the fact that in this case their romance just fizzled out but they stayed friends and they work together really well. It's lovely how Ben keeps Holly updated on Hope and pushes her to go on the break she deserves. There were just so many amazing characters that I loved getting to know that I could write about them all day but I don't want to bore you so I'll start to wrap it up here. I do want to mention Evan who I absolutely loved, Jamie, Fin and Caroline who were lovely friends and Holly's Mum who I also really liked. Each of the characters are memorable and unique in their own ways and they are a group that I wont be forgetting any time soon! I cannot wait to meet them all again!!!

Pick up this book and get lost in this absolutely gorgeous page turner!

Congratulations Hannah on an absolutely stunning read that I just could not put down!!! I am absolutely mind blown that I have never read any of your absolutely gorgeous books yet!! I am looking forward to reading more of your previous and future books. I would absolutely love to see this book turned into a movie!!! Welcome to my favourite author list and here's to your next success 🥂

Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the first chapter of Hannah's 'New Beginnings at Wildflower Lock', which promises to be just as gorgeous as this book. It is one I'm definitely looking forward to reading myself!!

Overall an unputdownable, gorgeous, STUNNING page turning book filled with holidays, romance, fun, laughter, friendship and so much more!! A perfectly relaxing and stunning unique read!!!!

288 pages.

This book is just £2.99, to purchase on kindle, free with kindle unlimited and £9.99 in paperback at time of review via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5/5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

I was not expecting THIS!! I adored this story, we were nowhere near the Cotswolds this time, but in the sunny South of France on a joint Hen and Stag do.

Despite Ben not being there, it was nice to see him still involved and of course, his revelation which we could see a mile off. I was happy for him. Jamie and Finn had such a luxurious time planned, I would love to have had more focus on that but of course, the story is the Holly Berry story, not Jamie and Finn despite it being their trip.

Evan, I mean he's just perfect isn't he, just perfect and while there is nothing wrong with him, nothing at all, I mean I would quite appreciate having him in my life, my heart always belongs to someone else in this series.

Holly, this time, is just plain Holly. No shop, no Hope, no Ben, she can just be her. It was nice to see her spark back despite being clumsy and in yet another triangle. But she found her spark, she found confidence, her voice and strength. It was a joy to see and I am so pleased!

I did find, the insert of the break-in, very casually done and it didn't seem to move the storyline along so I wasn't quite sure why it had been included.

Overall, this time I took my time with the book, I didn't want to blitz it in one day because I knew this was the last audiobook I had with Holly and the fabulous Gloria narrating it and that makes me sad. I have the next book in the series on my Kindle but it's not the point! I have adored this series, it makes me smile and Hannah is up there as a favourite romance and comedy author. She writes about real people, real situations, and real feelings. I have loved this week with Holly and can't wait for more!

In this romcom, Holly is taken out of the village and away from her family to spend a few days with her friends on a joint hen and stag do. Staying at a beautiful villa, she finds the life of luxury she has been dreaming of, but of course, misses her baby terribly. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments in this gentle romance, with a fine bunch of varied character and a couple of would-be suitors for her to choose from.
Of course, romance is the last thing on her mind, Holly tells herself. She is a likable and relatable character who can hardly near to relinquish control of her baby to Ben and her mother. However, with encouragement from her friends, she does her best! Holly has some choices to make in this story and surprises herself at some of her accomplishments. I did find the account of the flight out hilarious as no matter how hard she tried to appear cool and sophisticated, fate had other ideas. This is a light-hearted read which has you rooting for Holly all the way.
In short: love and laughter in this escapist romance

Sunny Days at the Second Chances Sweet Shop by Hannah Lynn

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

A getaway to remember... It’s Holly’s best friend’s hen do and the plan is a week away in the South of France. With little Hope still so very young, it’s going to be difficult for Holly to tear herself away, but Ben is the perfect co-parent and her own parents are just down the road, so – Holly decides – there’s really nothing holding her back, is there? Will the sunshine and sea air help her get back to who she really is? Or will this be the perfect distraction, a chance to have a holiday fling? Bask in the sunny skies of France with everyone's favourite sweet shop owner - because everyone deserves a break, don't they?

My Opinion

I think that I am reading this series in the wrong order or at least I think I have missed a book. To get the full enjoyment of this book I would recommend reading them in the correct order.

This is a lovely, light-hearted read that I managed to squeeze into an evening. I hesitate to say that Holly is looking forward to her trip to France, but in this instalment we don't see much of the sweet shop. Holly is such a likeable character and having read earlier books in the series it was nice to be amongst friends. I now need to go back and work out which books I have missed as this is such a great series to escape with.

This was an easy lighthearted read that I was able to finish in one evening, though to be honest, I wish I would have read prior books in the series before reading this. I definitely was able to read it as a stand-alone, but I think I would have gotten more out of it had I know the characters more and gotten more of their backgrounds. And there wasn’t much that actually took place at the sweet shop.
Holly is hesitant about going away on a join hen-do because she doesn’t want to leave her baby Hope and her sweet shop, but her parents and her baby’s father, Ben, who she has a great co-parenting relationship with agree that she needs the get away and have it all under control. So she decides to go for it and have a reset and her friends on the trip try to get her to have a holiday fling. So off she goes to bask in the sunshine of France with her friends and she meets the hunky owner of the villa they’re staying at and sparks fly. Only a face from the past shows up in an unexpected location and makes her question her feelings for everyone and everything. She has some tough choices to make but there are also some literal laugh out loud moments as well. I was rooting for Holly all the way.
A perfect escape for a few hours.

Such a beautiful read. I loved it from start to finish and flew through this so fast.

There were so many laugh out loud scenes in this book and I loved catching up with all the characters.

I am so excited for the next book in this series, there hasn't been a book in this series I've not loved so I can't wait to see what happens next.

Feeling like my 12 year old self lost in an escapist book series

Holly’s back but this time in a villa in the south of France for Fin and Jamie’s joint hen/stag do (admittedly stealing the attention).

Swooning with the palpable tension between Holly and Evan !!

The summer love triangle had me on the edge of my sun bed (although begrudgingly - did Giles really have to make a comeback? maybe deep down I was living for the drama…)

Sunny Days at the Second Chances Sweet Shop is Book 5 of in this series, although it could be read as a standalone book I think it’s even better if you have read the others too.

I had mixed feelings about book 4. Not in the writing but in I was disappointed that things had not worked out for people I had really been rooting for, more of a personal disappointment rather than issue with the story. Book 5 was like a soothing balm and whilst I’m still gutted that Hollys relationship didn’t work out I can see it was for the best.

Holly is die to go on her best friends hen/stag do in France, it being the first time she’s ;eft her baby Hope. She tried to resist going but knows Ben will keep her updated.

What an adventure Holly ends up having, her eyes are opened to her situation, what she really is looking for and that feelings can be mistaken. I couldn’t believe which character made an appearance, he is like a bad smell! If you have read it you’ll know which character I am not a fan of!

A great light hearted read, very enjoyable and fun!

Hannah M. Lynn's "Sunny Days at the Second Chances Sweet Shop" is a delightful escape to the sunny shores of the South of France, filled with heartwarming moments and a touch of romance. 💔💔💔💔🥺🥺🥺😩😩😩😭😭

i feel like the setting strayed so far away from the cozy little town, which i still don't know if i like. but i guess it's fun to have a vacation episode, especially after holly had hope.

BUTTTTT i feel like again the plot centered SO MUCH around molly. i would be a bit pissed if i were jamie ngl with all the drama molly's causing. but idk maybe they had a great time when holly's head was off in the clouds.

just to make myself clear, i love me a man with money💸💸💸 (cough jiles cavity) but evan was notttt it! he felt like a mary sue to me. too perfect. too understanding. their conflicts and banters took barely one chapter each. if anything it feels like a crush, so i dont understand why holly berry would give such a grand gesture for evan WHEN JILES CAVITY WAS RIGHT THERE???? RIGHT. THERE. RIGHT THERE AND HE WAS WAITING FOR HER. IN ALL HIS GIMMICK AND MESSY HOOK UPS BUT HE'S FCKING WAITING FOR U HOLLY BERRY AFTER YOU WERE MOPING FOR SO LONG TOO AGHHHHHH.

all that for a man whose bland as a beige mom's living room.

right person wrong time triple whammy r.i.p. jiles cavity🪦🕊💔

p.s. it's funny how holly thinks the american accent is sexy HAHAHA british books things🤪🤪🤪

I must admit that I haven't read the previous books in this series before this one, although the first two are languishing in my TBR list. This lack of backstory of the characters did make some of the storyline less clear, however it would be churlish to mark the story down because of this. I would definitely recommend reading the earlier books first though. That aside the story itself had a glorious location, a mixed cast of characters, romance and humour. Holly comes across as a good mother, really caring for her daughter, but suffering from being on her own. The chance of a holiday romance isn't on her mind at the start, but can she / should she take advantage of an opportunity as she is faced with? I'm now going to have to go back to read the series from the start to find out how she arrived in her situation and will no doubt enjoy those as much as I did this one.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

Her best friend's hen do is a getaway to France
To stay in a villa there - dare Holly really take a chance?
She's never left her baby daughter for so long
Should she go or would it be wrong?

There's really no excuse not to go enjoy the sun
And hopefully have the chance to relax and have some fun!
It is a joint party with the stags going along, too,
So all Holly needs is to get there and join in what they do.

The villa is to dream for - and there are surprises galore, too,
With close friends and new ones, and plenty of things to do!
Is this just a chance to relax or could it lead to more
As the area and activities the hens and stags explore.

A heartwarming story of indecision, choices and romance
Should she be reticent or prepared to take a chance?
Is this the stuff of nightmares or a dream come true?
With added mystery and suspense, a great read for me and you!

For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you,
As I share with you this, my honest review.

Sunny Days at the Second Chances Sweetshop follows Holly, a sweet shop owner who is leaving her 8 month old daughter Hope for the first time and escaping to the South of France for her best friends hen do. Holly thinks of every reason possible to not go but knowing that Hope is in good hands she decides it will be okay.

Sunny Days at the Second Chance Sweet Shop is really well written. The author has an easy going writing style which gives you the sense of chatting to friends. Hannah Lynn describes the characters clearly in a very vivid and realistic way and she makes her characters seem just as real as you and I. I really like the way in which the author makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action.

Sunny Days at the Second Chances Sweetshop is a lovely read and the story has a beautiful location, a mixed cast of characters, romance, humour, lots of drama and emotional scenes. I really enjoyed this book as it was an easy read and I would definitely recommend it.

Thank you to netgalley, the Author and the publisher for the advance copy of this book.

I read a previous title in the series and loved it. This book did not disappoint either.

The story follows our wonderful FMC Holly Berry as she escapes to the south of France for her friends joint hen and stag do, leaving behind her baby for the first time and stumbling across Evan the very dreamy and rich MMC.

Holly is such a likeable character and it felt like reading about a friend I haven't spoken to in a while. The chapters are short and the story is easy to follow. I found myself laughing out loud for a few moments which is always a sign of great writing for me.

Also love that Evan was a genuinely nice guy, no games or messing around.

Hannah Lynn has the ability to tell wonderfully uplifting, fun and joyful stories via her characters.

Tropes:

Forced proximity
Grumpy x sunshine

Absolutely great holiday read as a standalone or as part of the series.

Thank you @rararesources and @HMLynnauthor for letting me be part of this tour and reviewing this book. What an absolutely delightful read. I Loved Sunny Days at the Second Chances Sweet Shop. Holly is such a lovely person and clumsy too and I felt I connected with her because she's clumsy like me. Holly is going away for her girlfriend's holiday to France and does not want to leave her daughter behind and her sweet shop. There are some hiccups and nice things that happen to her on her holiday. My favourite bit of the story was the aeroplane journey where an accident happened to Holly that made me laugh so much but I don't want to give it away. This is a heartwarming and glorious read. I found Sunny Days at the Second Chances Sweet Shop a very easy read and was hooked from the set go. I Would love a second book on Holly's next chapter. I strongly recommend this book and if I could I give 10 out of 10. 5 stars. brilliant read.

Sunny Days at the Second Chances Sweet Shop is Book 5 of the Holly Berry series and it certainly didn't disappoint!! Holly is off to get friends joint hen and stag does in France. The first time she's left 8-month old Hope and is so anxious that she is thinking all sorts of reasons not to go!!! But she goes on the understanding that Ben, Hope's daddy will keep in contact while she's away. There's more to the story but saying anything will give spoilers so I'm not saying more! Except the characters are all fabulous and my new friends, the setting is glorious and I wanna visit now! (Much better than the typical British rain we are currently having!). This would make a fabulous, light hearted read on a sunny holiday with a glass of wine. Loved it

I read this book without realising it was part of a series. It enjoyed it fine as standalone but it would have helped if I had known some of the characters back stories.

It was a book I sped through and really enjoyed. There was a great range of characters, some whom I liked more than others. I really liked Holly and could empathise with her when it came to leaving Hope at home. I felt she developed through the book and faced a few tough decisions, especially when faced with someone from her past.

This is a lovely read with plenty of laugh out loud moments, friendship, romance and a stunning location, which I would definitely recommend.

This is book 5 in the series of The Holly Berry Sweet Shop. I hadn't realised this being my first book by author Hannah Lynn. However for me, it worked well as a standalone read.

I loved the main character Holly. She was entirely relatable and it was easy to imagine being friends with her.

This was a lighthearted read in which Holly is off on a hen do, leaving baby Hope behind with her mum and ex partner Ben. She is very reluctant to do this and anxious about the whole thing.
A holiday romance is the last thing of Holly's mind!

A great book to read in the sun, so perfect for the last couple of days! An ideal holiday read.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
This book brings together the main characters from previous books and adds in a few new ones. Holly's love life is at a low point (again) and while she's anxious about leaving Hope everyone else thinks she should get away for Jamie and Fin's joint hen / stag do. Cue more clumsiness leading to predictable events with a suitcase. Whilst much of the plotline is predictable this book is another pleasant read in the whole series.

Holly is going to the south of France to celebrate the stag and hen for Jamie and Fin. Along the way she meets Evan. As usual, Holly has her accidents along the way. While in France, Giles shows up and Evan leaves. The author has tied up the loose ends of the people of the book. Hope that there will be more to Holly's life story. Hate to see it end.

OMG, Holly's had a baby? I have a lot of catching up to do - I've read the first book, but need to catch up with those in between, and soon.

Whisked away to the south of France for a hen do, can Holly stop fretting about daughter Hope and let her hair down, she's in the city of lurve after all.

Sunny Days is a gorgeous addition to the series, it's fun, romantic and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's always great reconnecting with old characters and meeting new faces.

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a review.

I have just binge read all of this series in the last few days! You could probably read this as a standalone but personally I think you would be better reading the previous books first.

Fun, easy summer read.

Another lovely series found. Reading book 4 as the first I’ve read I did t feel like I was missing chunks. It felt like a good rounded book.
I liked the characters, the community Holly lived in was lovely. The parents and her relationship with her baby and Ben.
Evan sounded too good to be true but a gorgeous hunk!
Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Holly Berry is back with more questions and thoughts about her life,
In this fun filled adventure, Holly isn't in her sweet shop.
She makes new friends has more mishaps, and has a romantic time in the South of France.
A funny and heartwarming story about balancing motherhood
and being a woman.
I enjoyed reading this book immensely.

Lots of heart warming fun. Lovely to carry on the story from the previous books in the series but could also be read easily enough as a stand alone. Old and new characters been away from the sweet shop setting to celebrate Jamie and Finns joint hen and stag party. Romantic, easy entertainment. A good read.

Thank you Netgalley

I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review.

This book is actually book number five from the ‘Holly Berry Sweet Shop’ series.

This story follows Holly as she escapes to the South of France for her best friends hen do.

It was such an easy book to read and i found myself speeding through the chapters and turning the pages faster and faster!!

I loved Holly, she is just a lovely, perfect female main character and i really enjoyed getting to know more about her.

This was a perfect, escapist read and i loved being immersed in the story…….

This is book five in the Sweet Shop series and takes place away from the shop and the village of Bourton. It’s Jamie and Fin's joint hen/stag do in the south of France, staying at a villa owned by one of Fin's friends. Holly hasn’t left baby Hope before, and is strongly attracted to Evan her host.
