Embark on a journey into the spiritual world of the Native American Indian with some of the most intriquing stories of ghost spririts in nature and the undersorld. These stories based on original accounts from distinct native societies-from the Southwest desert to the Arctic tundra, through the dusty Great Plains to the lush Pacific Northwest-have been passed on in the oral tradition over the centuries.
This book is not good. No offense to the authors, but it is so hard to follow! I literally had to listen to something while I read this and had to have all distractions out of the room just to read a page!!! Only 2 of the stories in the book were decent. They also weren’t even scary! Only read this book if you want to be bored.
I expected a collection of ghost stories from the oral tradition of various tribes, passed on faithfully.
I think there were some of those, but some came straight out of the heads of the authors, I think. That bothers me. But honestly, I'm not sure if that's the case, except one story that's set in the early 2000's that just doesn't belong in the collection.
Highlights of the book include the following stories:
The Return of Only Daughter Heavy Collar and the Ghost Woman Chase of the Severed Head The Madness of Mocking Crow
I think those all come from genuine stories from various tribes, and they all have a real ghost punch to them.
