If you do something good, and no one is watching, what good was it after all?
Savannah Bloom, the author of the beloved 5 Minute Modern Day Bedtime Stories, presents her first children’s picture book.
What Good Is Good if No One's Watching is a heartwarming story following a boy who does good even when no one is watching. The boy makes his bed like his parents have told him to do, brushes his teeth (even the ones in the way back), picks up trash at the park, and makes many more good choices - but no one sees any of them. At the end of a long day, he asks his teddy what good those good choices made.
The bear’s answer reveals that doing good 1) makes you a better person, 2) makes the world a better place, and 3) makes God happy.
With fun illustrations and playful writing, What Good Is Good is sure to be a hit with young readers and parents alike. And, in true Savannah Bloom style, the book ends with optional discussion questions that equip the parent for a meaningful discussion with their child about integrity.
Savannah’s prayer is that this book, with parents’ guidance, will inspire children to do good deeds even when no one (but God) is watching.
My name isn't Savannah Bloom. I don't like the idea of hiding behind a pen name, but I'd rather keep a low profile, keeping my work life separate from my personal life. This way, I can post all sorts of embarrassing things on my personal Instagram without my readers having second thoughts about my sanity. Anyway, in reality, I'm a mother of two rambunctious boys (are there other kinds?) and a wife of a wonderful storyteller - whose stories I often grab for my own use! I live in the suburbs, go to church, and home-school two excellent students.
My stories all started by my sons' bedside. My first son would often give me (or my husband) two or three things to include in the nightly bedtime story. From there, we would need to weave an original tale from our weary minds, attempting to input his requests with an entertaining narrative AND, if we were especially motivated, a moral that would reinforce a character trait we thought he needed to work on. This grew taxing as his requests were along the lines of 1) Ryder from Paw Patrol, 2) a football, and 3) poop. Challenging! But from there, the story, "The Good Goop," was born! Thankfully, we changed poop to goop - but we're still working on eliminating that word from his vocabulary! I hope you enjoy this first volume.
