Little Wife Lies is a standalone domestic fiction thrill ride. If you like flawed characters, lurking deception, and walking the knife’s edge of disaster, then you’ll love Katherine Cobb’s battle with fate.
Katherine Briganti Cobb writes books about love, relationships and our shared, often messy humanity. She writes fiction, nonfiction and picture books and is also writing romance with heart and heat under the pen name K.C. Lake.
"I'd bet my left nut he's got tunnel-vision, and the light at the end of this one is a train - the kind that runs your ass over and smiles while she's doing it."
Never judge a book by its first few chapters... I admit, around 3 chapters in, I was thinking this book was not for me. By chapter 12, I was ready to mark it as DNF. If you've followed me for a while, you'll understand when I tell you that there were a lot of steamy scenes. So. Many. I was cringing so hard during these scenes that I gave myself a headache and felt I just couldn't continue. But I knew that it was building up to something. And I wanted to find out what. So I kept at it. I'll admit, I skimmed through some of those pages. Another reason I almost DNF this was because there was not a single likeable character in this book. Adrienne was a manipulative lying witch, and Hank was a man who clearly wanted to have another mum at home rather than a wife; expecting a home cooked meal every single day while she's looking after newborn twins. However.... I stuck with it, and honestly, I'm glad I did. What unravelled was a fast-paced tale of suspense that I actually really enjoyed. That ending is what pushed me to change this from a 3⭐️ to a 4⭐️ Having said that though, now I'm going to have to take a headache pill and bleach my eyeballs.
Why do I love and hate Adrienne at the same time which makes her a great character! I loved Hank and honestly felt for everything he had to go through BECAUSE of Adrienne.. like she just flat out DID NOT CARE. Who she hurt, Hank or Tami (her friend) because she wanted what she wanted!
I received an advance review copy for free from BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I read Little Wife Lies by Katherine Cobb. This book was hard to get into and I almost decided not to finish it. There was an awful lot of sex at the beginning of the book and I felt it was way too much. I started skimming through a lot of the steamy pages but kept going. I did enjoy it in the end but it was hard to get there. The end helped generate the generous 4 star rating. At the beginning it was only a 1-2 star rating. I did not feel that this book was a thriller. I would recommend this book but give a warning as to too much sex.
I loved this book so much and was hooked from the beginning. Hank was such a sweet guy, but damn I hated Adrienne. They both meet, have a short whirlwind romance before Adrienne finds out she's pregnant. They get married and soon find out they are having twins. Hank is a good guy and works hard to provide for his wife and kids. His only down fall is his temper. Adrienne is a lying, cheating pos who not only hurts Hank, but her friend in the process. While the book was predictable for the most part, there were a few things that I didn't predict or see coming. I honestly could feel Hanks love, disbelief and hurt from everything that he went through, along with Tami's pain and hurt. Such a great story.
I read this as an ARC and absolutely loved every minute of it. This was quite the wild ride about a tumultuous marriage. I can honestly say that this was the first book where I absolutely hated the FMC Adrienne, (that hate solidified in chapter 4) but felt the urge to continue reading about the disaster that she and her lovers live. This book packs the spice and the trauma based on the simple idea that 'hurt people, hurt people.' There is cheating within this read. These characters are deeply flawed humans, and written in such a way that, even with my frustration at their behavior, I couldn't bring myself to put the book down. It was messy perfection!
Con woman meets mechanic/ bouncer with a heart of gold - and a temper! How volatile will this mix be?
I loved Hank, although he's not a perfect man, and Adrienne made me see red for most of the book. I kept reminding myself that they were in their early to mid-twenties, so I shouldn't expect maturity. The ending was definitely satisfying (and I loved the bonus epilogue!). This is billed as domestic fiction and leans almost to the thriller side with some possible triggers for people.
What a fabulous read! I couldn’t put it down. Loved Adrienne. She has to be one of my favorite characters I've had the pleasure of reading this year. She’s smart, so much so, that she knows how to hook men and how to reel them in. I found myself drawn to her strengths and sympathetic to her weaknesses. I had to know what happened next.
When she meets Hank, sparks inevitably fly. She has so much spunk and fights her corner well. Her outstanding personality is well written and I can easily understand her pain and see why it haunts and defines her. She is determined, which, I think, is what kept me turning the pages. I wanted to see if she would succeed.
Hank is also well characterized. You can hear and see him. There are layers and layers of these characters and backstory is skillfully applied, giving them authenticity. If Hank can read a room at The Crazy Horse, it shows he has a rough edge under his gentlemanly demeanor. You can’t help empathizing with him since he’s at a slight disadvantage in the beginning. Although, ironically, both Hank and Adrienne both need the same things.
Had Little Wife Lies been on TV, I would have been shouting, ‘Nooooo, don’t do it!’ I was on the edge of my seat with all the twists I never saw coming. There was menace lingering in the wings, allowing the reader to fully engage with the story and appreciate the nuances. With wonderful prose, this intelligent and well-plotted thriller is well worth a read. Masterful dialogue and humor gives this book an edge, and leaves a residue long after finishing. Highly recommended!
I loved this book so much! I literally could not put it down. I went through so many emotions but in the best way. Adrienne was something else, but oh how I loved Hank.
I started and finished this book within 24 hours. I was hooked right away and needed to know what was going to happen next.
Here you have Hank, a mechanic/bouncer who was born and raised Texan who loves hard. But has a mean temper. He would protect anyone he cares about or even a total stranger. He quickly goes in a rage but wouldn’t hurt a love one. Adrienne, a hair stylist who is like a con woman. She is always looking for the easiest man who will help her on top. Someone who has money and will help her live extremely comfortably.
I was all over the place on whose side I would end up on. Both of them made me so angry many times and I wanted to yell at my kindle and shake them both. They are very interesting characters but both have major flaws.
Hank falls so quickly for Adrienne. He doesn’t notice the red flags about her while everyone else does. He quickly gets angry and results to violence. I didn’t like how he wasn’t a little more understanding with his wife. He doesn’t understand the struggles a woman can through when pregnant. Instead of talking with her calming on why things aren’t done. He screams and yells at her and takes it out on her and punches walls. No he didn’t strike her but that is still mental abuse. Didn’t stop after the kids arrive. She at one point asked for him to see someone about it but of course he didn’t.
Adrienne definitely had a rough childhood with things that happened in her past with her family. I’m pretty sure its part of the reason that she is the way that she is. She loves her children but I got angry with her on how she treated them at one point. She always looking for the next best thing. She doesn’t seem to be able to stay happy in any current situation. I’m not happy on what she did to Hank, I’m never happy with anyone that does what she did to her husband. If you aren’t happy, either make it work or leave! I liked her at first but at the end I couldn’t stand her and no matter the kind of person she is. I still feel kinda sorry for her at the end.
Overall I really did enjoy the book and think it would have made a good movie or tv show!
"For anyone who has ever been cheated on, lied to, and not loved the way you wholly deserve...I hope you are living your best life full of abundance, joy, love, and anything else that fills your soul. P.S. They say Karma never forgets an address."
Right from the dedication the slow burn agitating domestic drama Little Wife Lies, by grabs you from the start author Katherine Cobb, let's you know what this story is about and how it's likely to end. But what a wild ride in between this disasterous "romance."
Hank loves his second job as a bouncer in the bar. Nothing helps his anger issues like catching a creep messing with a woman and getting to punish him before throwing him out. When he sees the sexy Adrienne being manhandled by her latest hook up he jumps in to rescue her. Soon they are hot and heavy and though Adrienne feels, "...he is indisputably homely," she knows, "he'll never hit me. He'll never cheat." But what will she never do?
Hank is obsessed with her, "That's a woman you just can't taste once and walk away. She's got ass, sass, and class." Maybe less class more crass.
I tried to sympathize with Adrienne. She had abusive parents, loses her sister in a fire, and seems bi polar with her mood swings. She appears to have post partum depression after a traumatic birth. But there are two things she does that made it easier to dislike her. One involves Hank's dog Diesel; who Hank should had trusted when the dog obviously disliked her. The other is her selfish betrayal to those who actually loved her. She's the most frustrating character and I'm not sad Karma found her.
I enjoyed the end of each chapter with a fun point of view from side characters. It's clever and eases the fuming drama preceding it. Little Wife Lies is a perfect title but there is nothing little about this volatile relationship.
I received a free copy of this book from Brey's Book Tours for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

My thoughts: This book is a very intriguing behind closed doors type book! The writing and story line were great, but the characters drove me crazy! First off, WE GET IT the guy is from Texas, and everyone from Texas is obsessed with texas, COOL... I'm from Colorado we like everything except Texas here! 🤣 So I'm probably just sensitive.... but just in case you are wondering the guy is from Texas!!! Anyway! This book is on Kindle unlimited! Check it out! Thanks @breysbooktours @katherinecobbauthor for sharing this fun one with me!
I give Little Wife Lies by Katherine Cobb ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Rating: 3.75/5. TRIGGER WARNING: domestic violence and animal abuse/negligence.
**No spoilers in this review**
The pace of the storyline and plot was **chef's kiss**. Storyline starts off HEAVY and fast, steadies out about halfway through and become almost creating a slow burn kind of feel, then ramps up about 80% through until the end. It's like the reader is waiting for the other shoe to drop and got thrown off a cliff at the end. I wouldn't consider this a book that I couldn't put down. I could walk away from it especially during the middle portion, but it did keep my interest, so it was easy to come back to. I didn't dread picking it back up whenever I put it down. There are a lot of character dynamics going on at once which kept me as the reader on my toes. I didn't love or hate either of the two main characters right away and was constantly torn between how I felt about them; made the story feel very balanced! Was I rooting for them? Against them? Did I want them to be together in the end? Often, I found myself changing my mind based on how the story developed. Regardless, I would say I was satisfied with the ending. I did also read the bonus chapters from the author and while they were pleasant, I didn't feel like it really contribute anything to the overall story.

Decent romantic/domestic suspense novel, which I honestly thought I would DNF after several chapters in because the lingo was just too corny for me, but I stuck with it and glad I did. Our main characters, Hank and Adrienne, were completely unlikeable but that actually kept me invested in their love story until the very end. And going back to the corny lingo- too much “darlin” usage for my personal liking. (The only one who can say that word that will never get old is Jax Teller- IYKYK). The short chapters were perfect at keeping my attention, but while short, each were packed with enough drama and/or spice to keep me turning the page.

- The story is entertaining if you are into the below elements. I however, have mixed feelings about this. It was engaging though, i kept reading so the book is definitely unputdownable. And it will definitely take me some time to process.
- Both the main characters were highly unlikable. FMC Adrienne, was what Santa calls 'Ho, Ho, Ho', she consciously cheats and lies again n again, she manipulates everyone around her. The MMC, Hank, also has his own anger issues, expects his pregnant wife to keep the home clean, prepare homemade food and always taut and ready for sex.
- This story has animal cruelty, abuse towards infants, conscious cheating in marriage, manipulation.
- Being said, i really enjoyed the little snippets at the end of each chapter, the perceptions of the MCs from a third party observer💕
- I did love Tami. She was the only pure character of the lot.
Adrienne is one of those characters you hate to love. She knows what she wants (and what she needs) and she will do whatever it takes to get it – even manipulate people. She knows what she has, and she flaunts it. Hank seems like a sweet guy, but he is equally as flawed as Adrienne. Cobb had me invested in both of their lives, and how things were going to play out. I did like both characters at first, but I struggled with liking them after a while. Their relationship was toxic, and I’ve been in toxic relationships. I really wanted them to figure things out, especially for the sake of the baby. I really enjoyed the friendships as well. Now, the twists and turns were something else. You won’t see any of them coming, so be prepared to be surprised! Oh, and there’s a good amount of spice in this book! This will be out on June 1, so pre-order your copy now!
This is one that I am still processing a bit. A bit of a wild ride where I had to keep reminding myself that these characters are in their early twenties so I can’t judge them too much. I also now know I’m not a huge fan of a heavy southern drawl.
Adrienne is extremely unlikeable and clearly damaged from her past. She is so vain and just not a good person. I liked Hank as he was sweet even with his anger issues. You can tell he means well. I really enjoyed the multiple POVs but I also loved the snippets at the end of each chapter getting a different characters view on the situation.
I thought this was supposed to be a thriller but it was more of a family drama with some spice mixed in. I did really need to know how this story ended and it was a quick read with short chapters. I also enjoyed the bonus epilogue!

This is an exciting read with some spice yet it literally brought me to tears a couple times.
The book starts off with a little too much gal darn cheesy slang. I am from this area and I get it, we have our own way of “talkin” but it was a little over the top. It lessened as the book progressed which was better but felt inconsistent. I felt that Hanks less than perfect looks were hammered on a little too much. The story itself was great! I got less than half way through and I found myself wanting to do nothing but read this book. I liked how there were random thoughts of passing people thrown in. The spice in the book is hot! Don’t be fooled though you will be cussing the characters one minute and crying for them another!
I am definitely someone who judges a book by its cover! And I usually have success with my choices. More importantly though, I need to like the characters. They can make or break a story for me! Unfortunately I was not keen on either of the main characters in this story. I did like the supporting team - I think that, even though her role was minor, Tami was my favourite. Having said that I did enjoy quite a bit about this book. I loved the little bits at the end of each chapter from an observer. Seeing the scene from outside adds so much to it! I loved the premise - cowboy to the rescue, accidental pregnancy, struggles with newborns. The ideas were great, and carried out rather well. I liked the writing style. I will definite give Katherine Cobb another try.
I’m going to try to keep this as spoiler-free as possible…Little Wife Lies is a steamy read about deeply flawed people, but no one as flawed as Adrienne. By the time I made it to the climax, I was ready to kill her myself, but then I just felt deeply saddened by the awful life that twisted her into what she became. The author kept me deeply invested in these character’s lives and I alternately rooted for and screamed at them and their actions. If you’re looking for a great domestic drama with a healthy dose of steam (because who doesn’t love sex and drama?) this book is for you.
Ok, I did devour this in two days because I absolutely had to know what was going to happen, but I did not love these characters. Hank was so sweet at times (but y’all, the southern drawl ain’t my thing), but his anger and extreme reactions were not it for me. I also hate the cheating trope and pretty much despised Adrienne throughout the entire book so that could be a strong reason behind my negative feelings. I did appreciate the fast paced nature of the book so if you’re looking for a quick thriller read this summer, this will be a good one for you!
I liked this! It was a little long for my taste, but once I got through to the middle it picked up quick! I really hated Adrianne, she was the absolute worst, and I’m happy about what happened to her (even if that makes me a bad person).
I also read the bonus epilogue and it made me very happy to finish out the story that way! I definitely suggest reading the bonus if you decide to check this out!
I was able to review this book as an arc. Adrienne character drove me nuts through out the book. She was all over the place. Hank has his own kinda personality but it was very kind hearted of him to let Adrienne stay with him when she was soon to be homeless. Both their personalities have clashed and were then both given some shocking news!
You’ll definitely be on the edge of wherever you’re reading this book until the end! I definitely would recommend it!

This book was outstanding!! It was a spicy, edge of your seat story! I really enjoyed the writing style in this book. The dual POVs kept the story entertaining and let you see both sides of the story.
Hank and Adrienne were so toxic for each other and I felt bad for Hank in some moments of the story. This story really makes you think twice about jumping into a relationship with someone you barely know.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I highly recommend checking it out!
Thank you Breys Book Tours and Katherine Cobb for my spot on tour and gifted eARC!
I LOVE a good domestic thriller and Katherine Cobb delivered! I devoured this book! Flawed characters (which I love), crazy and emotional twists kept me reading all night long. If you're looking for a new thriller author to read and a definite page-turner, add this to your TBR!
This book had me guessing to the end, full on plot twists, tangents and 'WTF' moments! If you are after a suspenseful read that has you flicking pages just to know what's happening then this is your read. A lovable man who has some issues he needs to address, a smart, manipulative women who only thinks of herself, put them together and you've got a good read!
This is a thrilling read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I really enjoyed this domestic thriller. I loved reading from both Adrienne and Hank’s point of view. The random characters little snippets at the end of each chapter were a good edition. I really enjoyed the ending. Thanks @breysbooktours and @katherinecobbauthor for the ARC
