Masterworks is a survey of 60 masterpieces that are confirmed milestones in the history of art. With 180 color illustrations, the book features two spreads for each masterpiece — one full-page, full-color spread for the piece itself, and a supplementary spread that uses enlarged details to discuss the technique and significance of each painting as well as its broader cultural context as an iconic work.

You don't have to want to go deep into art history to appreciate this book. It gives great facts and tidbits about each of the paintings/artists featured. Good read.
