Mel Cebulash grew up in Union City, NJ where he developed his athletic skills in schoolyard games. Rather than pursue a career in sports, he chose to write about them. Many of his published works, both fiction and non-fiction, reflect his life-long fascination with sports and his special interest in writing for young people.
The novelization of the second of the original four Herbie films. The book is full of still image shots from the film. The aunt of the Buddy Hackett character from the first film. Keenan Wynn appeared as Alonzo Hawk, the villain from "The Absent Minded Professor" and its sequel, "Son of Flubber," tying the two Disney series together. This movie was a cash grab aimed at little kids. It worked for Disney. As a movie, and a novelization, it just isn't very good.
I loved the movie when I was a kid so I picked this up for 50 cents at a flea market and had a little trip down memory lane. My favorite part is when Herbie rides around the city calling all the other VW Bugs to his aid. I look forward to sharing this with nieces and nephews as they are learning to read.
