Shannon, Daryn, and the Hunters continue to stave of the Apocalypse as the Council unravels and the Empowered discover how bad things really are. Shannon's magic is balancing out since she sacrificed her ability to call forth the animal dead. AJ's killer is revealed and the Prince's identity is finally uncovered. But is it too late to save the world from the King and his minions?
Lots and lots of action and revelations. The Frost twins continue to crack me up and Shannon and Daryn grow even closer. Excited to find out what happens next. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Again a decent story but this one ended on a cliffhanger :(

September 27, 2023This is book six of the Midlife Demons and Demigods series and Shannon has had to give up one of her powers to help stabilise all the different magic’s within her. She and her parafinai Daryn, leader of the Hunters, know the veil is weakening, as the risen hunter Thaglar warned them. They also have the issue of the takeover of the council by Alaric supported by Marcus, along with Alaric’s lover Cage and his mercenaries. One council member was already killed, now Marcus informs them that Alaric and another are dead and he needs their help once again. But deception lies at the core of that mystery and who was really behind the killing, as there were no witnesses to the killing within the basement of the council building. The basement hides the gate between our world and the underworld, which the demon prince is trying to open to have his father come through! They have no idea who the demon prince has been pretending to be, but with the manipulations that have taken place, it goes back at least forty years to the death of Shannon’s mother and her young friend A.J. even. The investigation takes them into Shannon’s past, to the events at the lake in Shadow Falls, where A.J. lost his life and finding out the truth about his death.
More issues come to the fore as Alaric even after death, causes more problems for the hunters and the council, having announcements sent out to the empowered community at large, causing dissention and hatred of the hybrids, even those not yet triggered to kill by their demonic DNA. The prince has been busy for hundreds of years, spreading his father’s demonic DNA amongst the human population. Plans have obviously been in place for hundreds of years, to bring the king through, causing many deaths along the way, to push people into certain actions. Unfortunately for the hunters, the council members have kept any further latent powers they develop secret from all, leaving the hunters at a disadvantage not knowing the full powers of those they are investigating and may need to stop. Marcus is still trying to lead the council, even after stepping back after the events above, trying to push his own agenda and not wanting Amalie to be its temporary lead. The map which should have showed breaches by demons into their realm, is weakening and soon will fail. The hunters haven’t been getting warnings in time and now they have hybrids to deal with and they need to figure out a way to identify them before they kill! Shannon is not the only one working on figuring out deaths in her past, as Kaine, of the Frost twins, seeks the killer of his and Indy’s parents. When they figure out who is the actual prince, they are too late to stop him bringing through the king, with Shannon’s actions only injuring him, not stopping him. Hopefully she has something the prince doesn’t realise she has, which will give them answers on how to stop the king gaining his full powers on Earth and taking over the world. More to come as Shannon gets used to her new powers and the man by her side. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Aaand we're off! If there ever was a typical penultimate novel in a series, it's "Unleashed by Magic"!
Of course the good guys'll win in the end... right? Because from what I've just read I can only conclude that things are looking mighty dire. As in: all hell has broken loose. Literally (well, just the one).
As was obvious from earlier books there had to be more traitors than Renkath, and that big whopper of a reveal is done in this 6th and semi final installment. Smartly done too, because it opens the doors for so much extra important information.
Answers to the questions if AJ was murdered, how and why (sickening), how long the Hunters and any other Empowered have been misled (long!), who was part of it, and eventually to the biggest revelation of them all: who is the Demon Prince. Okay, here it was maybe not so smartly done, as I figured it out easily before my Hunter friends did. Which was a major bummer, because the book loses tension as a result.
Once the team is clued in, many a puzzle piece finally comes together for them. But by that time the Prince's plan isn't just in the works, but coming to a close. Or maybe I should say 'opening'?
While it looks like Shannon and Daryn, as defacto leaders of Spirit Falls by the end of the book, are heading towards the Apocalypse after the Prince has managed part 1 of his final plan, there are a few uplifting moments to be found.
Shannon might have given up her animal necromancy, which turns out to be a bonus for the Demon Prince in fights, but Caleb's Shadow Cat seems to be the answer to identifying all the hybrids in town.
Extra important because the second traitor has caused immense chaos & panic in Spirit Falls, and all the Empowered seem to be ready for a genocide - no questions asked.
Also, our parafinai couple has figured out how to be more than romantic partners and team-mates; they can combine their magic in a never before seen way, making them ultra powerful. Together with the rest of the team's talents and tenacity they might just thwart part 2, demons on earth and humanity enslaved or dinner. IF everyone works together.
Unleashed by Magic is in many ways like all the other books. We have the Hunter interaction, always good for a laugh, and the ups and downs in the lives of the team, and - by now - the strengthening romance between Shannon and Daryn. While the authors have not really managed to make me care about other Hunters, and especially not about the majority of the arrogant Empowered (I guess were supposed to root for humanity, period), I'm very invested in everyone on Shannon's team, Caleb and a few side characters like Master Lochlan, Esme and everyone's favourite imp.
The 6th and penultimate novel in the Midlife Demons and Demigods series was very much a tightening of loose threads (except for Lenny), and focusing everything on the finale > preventing the start of the Apocalypse in Spirit Falls. Like every book in this series it's a pageturner, easy to read and full of great magical fighting scenes.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Unleashed by Magic and I'm definitely going to grab the last book no matter how.
Another 4 stars.

Unleashed By Magic is the sixth book in the Midlife Demons and Demigods series. These are not standalone books. Each books picks up from the last so you're best off starting with the first book: Destiny Of Magic.
In Death Of Magic, we left off with Shannon using Daryn's death magic to try to get her magic re-balanced after the effect's of the pendant on her necromancer abilities.
"I want my magic back the way it was meant to be. The way it was prior to the pendant warping it."
In order for this to occur she is asked to sacrifice one of the powers acquired when she wore the pendant.
"I will give up my ability to call on the animal kingdom."
The trade is made, but Shannon was warned that there will be consequences.
As Shannon's magic starts to stabilize, the team continues searching for clues to figure out who the prince is, how to stop the veil from falling, and the king of the underworld coming through one of the gates.
As always, there's a lot going on but some of the highlights are:
(1) A team of hunters grabbed an opportunity to take possession of the council, but only one member remained alive: Magnus. He agrees to step aside and transfer his position to someone else. Daryn chooses Amalie to run the council.
(2) Kaine tracks down his parents' assassin and what he learns connects back to the council and Shannon.
(3) The team identifies AJ's killer and figures out how his death fits into the prince's grand plan
(4) Cage (Alaric's ex) reveals who the prince is!
(5) The king of the underworld comes through the gate
Redeemed by Magic is the next (and final?) book in the series, and is expected mid-October. It feels surreal that this journey might be coming to an end. I fully expect the team to succeed in saving mankind and either killing or banishing the king of the underworld, but I'm terrified of who might be lost in this epic battle. I have grown very attached to all these characters; I fear I'll need to prepare myself for the worst. Yikes!.

AUDIOBOOK Review
Alright, I am totally hooked on this series, and Unleashed by Magic is yet another wild ride that doesn’t disappoint! The stakes keep getting higher for Shannon, Daryn, and the whole crew as they battle betrayal, dark magic, and the looming threat of the demon king. It’s intense, action-packed, and filled with twists that had me glued to my headphones.
This book jumps right into the action and tension, and wow, there is so much going on! I loved how Shannon’s personal history was brought back into play with some serious emotional weight, especially when she returns to the lake where her childhood friend died. The plot thickens, and it’s clear the apocalypse is just around the corner unless Shannon and Daryn can stop it.

Would I Recommend? Absolutely! But like the others in the series, this isn’t a standalone. If you’re into supernatural drama, action, and some seriously high stakes, then I say dive into the Midlife Demons and Demigods series ASAP. This book, in particular, kicks the suspense up a notch.

Breach, Battles and Befuddlement
This is book 6 of Midlife Demons and Demigods series. Helps to have the origin and history of the characters, along with the learning of their personality and empowerment.
Shannon has had to make an important decision in order to regain control and find a compromise with her growing empowerment. Both Shannon and her parafinai, Daryn, are aware the veil between worlds is weaking while Alaric, the leader and newly undisguised traitor, is attempting to gain complete control of the council, the Hunters and all empowered. To what end? And why? Who is actually behind the crimes being perpetrated?
The underworld prince has been uncovered, although his identity remains unclear and is working to bring the king to our world through the gate. Apparently this has been in progress since long before the origins of Shannon and her closest friend, AJ's, demise. The hybrids are being created with the help of the king's DNA, propagated by the prince.
The breach map, now weakened by the actions taken by Alaric and now Marcus, is no longer showing the important detail needed for the team to control the demonic breaches. Shannon and Daryn learn more of their combined talents and look towards building their team, and the council up. More is included of Sphinx, the wonderful shadow cat and Kenji, the adorable imp.
This is an all encompassing, all engrossing series!! Don't miss reading!

Shannon & Daryn and the hunters are in deep this time around. More and more demons are fighting and more hybrids are turning into demons. Shannon gave up her ability to handle dead animals. We find out just how long the Demon King’s hybrid Prince has been working on letting daddy dearest out of the Underworld. We also see what type of training is considered “basic” for newbie hunters. Kaine Frost does something stupid and he gets caught.
I love Indy & Kaine. Their snarky come backs to each other are hysterical. *Bounces* I figured out who the demon Prince is before reading it. Yay. A lot of people have been pawns for a very long time. The prince has been playing chess with a very long game to let daddy dearest out. I love Kenji & Esme too, and Lochlan. There is a lot of stuff going on in this book. It was fascinating. I adored it. So much was explained in this book- so many things answered.
The fight scenes in the book are freaking awesome! OMG. I found myself bouncing on the bed and had to grab twizzlers because it felt like I was watching a movie as I read. But everything is about to go total cray-cray. I can’t wait to read the next book but now I’m also scared to. EEEEP.

My review is written after listening to the audio version of this book.
I'm enjoying this series very much and this instalment is no exception. As the saga of Shannon and her Daryn continues and they battle to keep the demon king in the underworld we learn a little more about Caleb as he acquires a new and surprising defense ability.
I would stress that these are not standalone stories as each book picks up where the last left off so do listen to the earlier books before listening to this one. In Death Of Magic, the preceding book we saw Shannon using Daryn's death magic in an attempt to get her magic re-balanced and counter the effects of the pendant on her necromancer abilities. In this instalment, as the plot thickens danger awaits around every corner and betrayals mount as efforts to raise the demon king and unexpected connections are revealed, can the Hunters stop his arrival?
The narration by Katie Hagaman is excellent.

I'm enjoying this series very much and this instalment is no exception. As the saga of Shannon and her Daryn continues and they battle to keep the demon king in the underworld we learn a little more about Caleb as he acquires a new and surprising defense ability.
I would stress that these are not standalone stories as each book picks up where the last left off so do listen to the earlier books before listening to this one. In Death Of Magic, the preceding book we saw Shannon using Daryn's death magic in an attempt to get her magic re-balanced and counter the effects of the pendant on her necromancer abilities. In this instalment, as the plot thickens danger awaits around every corner and betrayals mount as efforts to raise the demon king and unexpected connections are revealed, can the Hunters stop his arrival?
The narration by Katie Hagaman is excellent.

Nothing is easy for our heroine and it seems that she keeps getting saddled with impossible choices. Let's just hope she can figure it out or else the world is in trouble.
This is book six of the series. It does pretty well as a standalone, but will definitely be a better experience if read in order.
This is a paranormal romance story with witches, demons and that ilk. The story is well written and easy to read with a plot that nonetheless has a lot going on. The setting is well developed and quite intriguing, so I am definitely looking forward to exploring it in future books. The characters are equally well done. I definitely like our heroine and look forward to getting to know her better. The plot has a nice bit of mystery to it and, of course, plenty of magic. Overall, this is a fun series and I look forward to seeing what comes next.

Excellent continuation of the series. In this book we get a better connection with Daryn and Shannon. The plot get more intense.
Indy gets to play senior hunter to her brother Kaine. How he got demoted was intense and intriguing. Why he did what he did opens a new avenue of the story line. We learn a little more about Caleb and Sphinx.
We find out who the prince is and some of his plans for the mundanes and hunters.
Edge of your seat action through out. Loved the commitment between Daryn and Shannon. Plenty of steam in the romance.
I can't wait for the next book to see how or if they defeat the King of Demons and his son.

My gosh, I can't believe how I inhale these books as soon as their released, I'm addicted to seeing what happens next so much 😁.
Now I'm stuck waiting for the next one 😪.
Shannon is an incredibly strong woman who has been through hell and back for herself and is still going there for her son and now her parafini.
I'm glad to see missing things are returning and finally some answers, as shocking as the discovery of whom they are.
I'm also glad to see others who were walked over being brought into power.
This author has a way of empowering the downtrodden.

The plot thickens and danger awaits at every corner in this 6th book in the Midlife Demons and Demigods series. Shannon is pulled in new ways as her power stabilizes and the truth of what happened to her childhood friend is revealed. Daryn continues to be her rock which deepens the depth and strength of their bond. I really enjoy the romantic tension and humor which peeks though, providing yet another dimension to the story. Caleb continues his hunter training and Sphinx has an important role still to play, I think. The plot twists continue and I am eagerly awaiting the final book.

Shannon and Daryn accomplish the "ritual" to help rebalance her power but it brings a long dead hunter to visit them. They test Shannon's necro powers and she manages to connect to the young hunter who is dead. So they go to find out what happened to him and why. What they find is shocking but not unexpected. Events start to play out rapidly that it's hard for anyone to take a breathe. Then treachery when the council is attacked! Lives are lost as some are almost lost. What will happen to humanity?

A must read series!! The story continues as the hunters are still trying to keep the demons at bay and find the prince. The rogue council has been stopped and Reginald and Amalie are back in control. Shannon's powers are balancing out maybe just maybe they will be able to catch a break. Great series, not a standalone. Never a dull moment in this storyline, captivating from the go!! Highly recommend this read!.

As Shannon's healing magic returns, Daryn and their team are faced with many challenges: the loss of multiple Council members, a member's actions which could have been disastrous to the team, keeping the veil from falling and preventing a king from the otherworld from crossing over to the human realm among other things. Book 6 of Midlife Demons and Demigods picks up where book 5 left off and the saga of Shannon and her Daryn continue as they battle to keep the demon king in the underworld. The hunters finally figure out who is the demon prince but whether they can stop him from bringing his father forward is another story. This book is so worth reading. I like how each book ends in a cliffhanger guaranteed to have you coming back for the next book.

Unleashed by Magic by Tia Didmon and Victoria Crawford is a wonderful paranormal fantasy. Katie Hagaman did a fantastic job with the narration. Unleashed by Magic is the sixth book in the series Midlife Demons and Demigods. The story is entertaining, interesting, thrilling, captivating and more. Mystery revealed from the past and things change for everyone. Will the main character choose revenge for the past or risk unleashing the apocalypse.

Book six and we pick up from where we left off. The storyline continues to enthrall and becomes more intense as the hunter’s are struggling to keep the demons away and more hybrids are changing to demons. Caleb continues with his hunter training and Shannon and Daryn’s relationship continues to grow and develop and the rogue council has been stopped. This is a great series that has captured me since book one and I eagerly await the finale.

With this new story, I am totally taken in and pulled along for this wild adventure. Shannon and Daryn have so many new unexpected obstacles to face, and they do it well, changes happening and I will be waiting to know what happens next. I Loved this story!!! These two authors really know how to unleash the magic! This was a page turner. You learn so much in this book, like what Kaine was up to all this time and what he finds out. I love those twins they are so funny together. Indy has a warped sense of humour. Daryn And Shannon discover who the prince is and thing’s almost come together. I will be sad when this series ends. I would recommend this book.

This is one of those books that will ensure that you aren’t going to put down. The action is well written and the characters have me loving every moment of their book. This is best read as part of the series, as there is some overall things that you won’t get how exciting it is to get these answers.
There is still so much to be answered here and I am so excited and anxious for the rest of the series. I want answers and my favourite characters to have the ending that they deserve.

Again, to get the most out of this series it should be listened to in order. The narrator does a good job of bringing the story and the characters to life. A page turning adventure awaits you. Full of suspense and magic, book six of the Midlife Demons and Demigods series is another great novel by Didmon. Fans of magical adventures, urban fantasy, and paranormal women's literature won't want to miss this one!.

Shannon and Darrin have their hands full as they fight against the evil that's determined to take over. Betrayal, death, destruction, action, danger, whimsical, a little steam will have you on the edge of your seat. The book ends with a cliffhanger.
The audiobook is done very well with Katie Hageman as the narrator. I enjoyed listening to this book and look forward to the next in this series.

Another win story in the Midlife of demons and Demigods series. After the council has a member murdered, the hunters must look quickly to find the demon prince. This book is full of some unexpected twists that I most definitely wasn't expecting. Great read.
