Omg so funny but there are some really offensive jokes in this so don’t read if you are easily offended it will triggers some. I’ll put some of the triggers in a spoiler tag
You know what stinks about writing a Choose Your Own Adventure?
I figured it out when I read this. I mean, what stinks other than the fact that I die constantly.
The thing that stinks, if the text is actually good and funny, you don't get to read it. Not really. Because you're following the story, but then I flip past what looks like a hilarious picture of a guy in a convertible with half a head, and I want to know what that's all about.
This is funny and offensive, which is no surprise, since it's Cyanide & Happiness.
The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the "Choose Your Own Adventure" section at the end. The humor fell flat for me fairly quickly, so I stopped reading.
Other than that it's a nice C&H collection.
Since I'm posting this on St. Patrick's Day, here you go:
Another Cyanide and Happiness collection - of varying quality, although I did find myself laughing out loud (or snorting, more accurately) quite a few times. There are some truly tasteless comics in here, and a preponderance of bad puns, but also some very funny quips. The previously unpublished comics are decent if not spectacular. The choose your own adventure section at the end is just kind of weird - trying to read it in a digital edition doesn't work very well, but the whole focus of it (Lasagna?) is strange. If you're a fan of Cyanide and Happiness, you'll like this. If you're not, you're not likely to become one because of this collection.
As usual, excellent sketches. The best is the build-yourself-a-story at the end of the book. These guys never cease to amaze me with their eclectic dark sense of humor.
Hahaha this was great fun! Simple silly fun which does not cower behind a façade of trying to be politically correct or inoffensive. It just goes balls deep straight in for the jugular. Humour that harks back to a time where people didn’t get their panties in a twist over every little thing, because they could see it was all just for laughs.
There were probably about 10 strips in here that I didn’t care for, and the other 140 odd had me giggling away and keeping my partner from falling asleep - whoops! The new additions section was so-so, but the choose your own adventure was enjoyable enough to go for a few runs through.
It's supposed to be funny but it was a bit more cringeworthy than the previous Cyanide & Happiness book. More of the comics were on the offensive side. 3 stars because I know someone else can read the same book without being offended or cringing.
This was my "low brow birthday present" from my brother this year. What can I say? If you love irreverent humor and bad puns (and I do), you'll love Cyanide and Happiness. Check it out in this book or online where the comic originated.
I read this book on an airplane traveling to Europe. It was really hard to read the last part, where it was a choose your adventure. (The Kindle edition does not have the same page numbers as the page it tells you to skip to, so the whole process was a mess. It would have been a mess anyway using a Kindle for a choose-your-own-adventure book.)
I found the jokes to be old and outdated, I would not recommend this book to anyone.
A collection of strips from the super-popular internet comic "Cyanide and Happiness". I ran across this by chance at the library, flipped through a few pages and checked it out after desperately trying to hold in my laughter. If you've ever seen their comics online, you get what you expect, which is rather vulgar but also well-written and kinda ingenious at times. A quick read but hilarious.
Maybe an unpopular opinion but I bailed on this one. Probably should have figured from the forward by Alexis Ohanian which basically set it up as “you may not like it if you are easily offended har-har”. A lot of these comics felt forced and not funny like they were trying too hard to be offensive and ended up just being trashy. 🤷🏻♀️
Could have done without a large portion being a 'choose your own adventure' story. The written humour is no where near the comic panel humour, and it shows. As for the comics, most are pretty funny in a 'sick, horrific' way that gives this title it's charm. I'm always delighted with just how well the simple art conveys its jokes so the punchlines stick.
Some decent, funny, irreverent jokes, but most were pretty stupid and boring. Skipped the choose your own adventure at the end because reading a digital copy, and the print was way too small, way too much of it to read on screen. I'm old. And too old-school, but sometimes needs must when digital is the only copy to be had. Not every graphic novel/comic translates well to that format, sadly.
This book was really good and funny...I just couldn't put it down! This book is for mature people because of the language throughout the book. Also this books ending was a little confusing but I got it figured out...All in all nit a bad book. If you want a book that's funny and you won't be able to put it down......then this right here is your book!
It´s Cyanide and Happiness, there are moments that it makes you cringe. Others that make you laugh out loud. Others where you get a big question mark on your head. I do like how it ended with a choose your own adventure. That is something different. Although my adventure ended too soon...choose right!
So, so funny. If you're easily offended this is definitely not for you, but these are so out there and unexpected I found myself shocked and roaring with laughter pretty consistent. The make-your-own-adventure at the end was a bit much, especially for a kindle book where you can't jump to specific pages like that, but otherwise fantastic.
More raunchy comics brought to you from the delightful and sick minds of Cyanide and Happiness. A special Choose Your Adventure in this book is easily the funniest skit in this book.
If you're sick, twisted, demented, and horrible, THEN THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU!!!! Read it in one go, and revel in the fact that there are people out there who are more effed than you! It's a great reminder of how far culture has fallen.
I love these little comic strips so much. I’ve laughed so hard reading them. Some of them had me confused and I still loved it. If any of you all haven’t read these books, do it!
A great collection of comics. I picked this up as i was shelving at my library, and thought it was funny enough to get me out of reading slump. I liked this collection a lot, now I’m interested in seeing more from the authors
