Not real sure about this wild wild west setting and I swear I've read this exact story somewhere else before.

Also, clearly I missed some stuff but why no Rocket? I miss that guy. With Groot's appearance and the lack of Rocket I'm kind of afraid to read what led to this.

We leapt straight into the action here but as I said, I feel like I've read this story before so it didn't really do a lot for me. Artwork was fine but average.

Not sure how long I'll follow this series - I might need to go back and suss out this whole, 'Grootfall' thing. Sounds ominous.

I wasn't happy that this new series apparently has no connection at all with Al Ewing's 2020-2021 (?) run on Guardians of the Galaxy. Comic book # 1 here isn't even narrated by one of the Guardians, but by some alien grown ancient that was apparently a child at the time of the events. This adds considerable distance to the action in a couple of ways. That narrative framing turned me off, as well as the foreboding tone. Paraphrasing: "The Guardians were a fire, and you know what happens to fires." Apparently they burn out, is the implication. Wow, depressing start, in my opinion, and the comic continues on being depressing.

The Guardians have had something terrible happen to them in a year of comic book time. I feel like I missed some big event for them in real time, but I don't think so...?

There's no sign of Moondragon, Phyla-Vell or any other clones or descendants of Captain Mar-Vell, or Nova. It's Star-Lord, Gamora, Nebula, Mantis and Drax as the characters attempting to be heroes. Why write a comic that puts a non-Guardians perspective on events that are now distant in time? I want to find out if things get better, but what a downer of a comic we have here.

I knew going in this would be Rocket-less, but I’m hoping it brings him into the fold soon. Given that I’ve often stuck with guardians just for Rocket, I was expecting to like this much less than I did: it was pretty funny, with a good save this alien planet and their people storyline. I’m confused about Groot’s new role, but this looks like a longer storyline than one issue to work out so I’m willing to give it time.

I’m really enjoying Nebula so that’s doing a lot to keep me going here, though. We’ll see how much I enjoy this in a couple months, but it’s a good start for now!

I loved it.
No real idea what in hell is going on.
But it feels like they are trying, again, to create a comic of the Guardians
that is close enough to the cinematic version to catch the movie fans and
get some of that sweet, sweet movie money.

The Guardians are on some weird ass frontier planet that is basically the old west with aliens.
And the gang is trying to evacuate the planet ahead of Groot who has become some sort of world eating monster??

It was a fun read.

Ehhhhhh. I liked the idea of a western guardians but it just fell flat for me. plus the art was a little to "busty" for my taste. Mainly that one panel of Gamora at the wheel. Yikes. Glad I picked the first one up for the Skottie cover but I won't continue to read it.

Best Guardians ever!

Undoubtedly will be the best guardians of the galaxy run ever,by far the best roster and character designs, not to mention the story! Simply phenomenal all around. Will definitely be reading every issue in this run!

Extremely conflicted about the inciting incident, but also intrigued to see where this goes next. I like the Western vibe, also reminds me a lot of Firefly!

The Guardians always have the odds against them, but especially when the Grootfall apocalypse is imminent.

It's a solid start, something bit different, but Wild West isn't my favorite genre, so I'm not sure if this will do it for me.

Pretty much everything here was kinda average. The story was nothing crazy outside of the mystery hook of what the hell happened with Groot, and the art didn’t really impress me either.

It didn't feel like there was much to the story overall, but it does set up an intriguing cliffhanger at the end.
