I love writing, reading, triathlon, real ale, chocolate, good movies, occasional bad movies, and cake.

I was born in London in 1969, lived in Devon until I was eight, and the next twenty years were spent in Newport. My wife Tracey and I then did a Good Thing and moved back to the country, and we now live in the little village of Goytre in Monmouthshire with our kids Ellie and Daniel. And our dog, Blu, who is the size of a donkey.

I love the countryside ... I do a lot of running and cycling, and live in the best part of the world for that.

I've had loads of books published in the UK, USA, and around the world, including novels, novellas, and collections. I write horror, fantasy, and now thrillers, and I've been writing as a living for over 8 years. I've won quite a few awards for my original fiction, and I've also written tie-in projects for Star Wars, Alien, Hellboy, The Cabin in the Woods, and 30 Days of Night.

A movie's just been made of my short story Pay the Ghost, starring Nicolas Cage and Sarah Wayne Callies. There are other projects in development, too.

I'd love to hear from you!

I’ve reviewed quite a few of Lebbon’s books, and aside from one book, (I will not name it for fear of giving it more power) I have loved them all. In fact, quite a few readers have emailed me asking if I was getting a check in the mail or love on the side as an explanation for why I heap such high praises upon him. First, no – I’m still broke and married, and second – the man can write. In fact, Lebbon is one of the few authors who can truly enrapture me with his words and deliver me into a world I’ve never seen before. So, yes, you’re all correct, he is one of my favorite writers and most definitely a sure thing.

Now Gavin Williams…well, we’ll just have to see about him, won’t we? And therein lies the trick – you don’t. Being an avid fan of Lebbon’s work, you’d think I’d be able to tell which writing was his and which came from Williams, but I couldn’t. Both authors’ style of writing is flawless and interchangeable. The only difference I did notice was in the details. Lebbon likes to explore the emotional toll on a mass level, and Williams examines it on a smaller, significant level. I loved it! Eloquent and introspective, the characters are written with such depth that I was actually affected. That’s right people, I cried when all seemed lost and cheered them on when hope sprang eternal. Average and common, somehow the author’s make them shine.

Original and creative, the plot is unique in every sense of the word. Full of twists and turns, reality begins to slowly crack and spider out until all hell breaks loose. Rather than focus on what could have easily become another “Damn the man and PETA rocks” novel, Lebbon and Williams take a predictable outline to a whole new level. Drenched in darkness and paranoia, the atmosphere wraps its arms around you in the first chapter, and holds you close throughout the novel, all the while making you bear witness to the atrocities going on. Luckily, the pace keeps you in check and grants you a reprieve from time to time, allowing you to catch your breath.

My rating? I give it a 5. I may have been Strand’s for a few hours, but I’ll be Tim Lebbon’s bitch for years to come. What the hell are you waiting for? Buy it now!

Tim Lebbon has quickly become one of my favorite horror authors. This is a very early novel that starts out with an enraged man who's literally kicking and screaming for animal rights. But there's a point early on where I actually sat up when I read what was seen through a certain window.

The book is very Lovecraftian, and the discovery of a secret journal that hints at horrors that are driving the owner mad may sound cliche except that Lebbon pulls it off so well. Very weird and disturbing, it deals with the psychological horror as much as the mortal aspects of dealing with alien things that are just toying with you before they use bits of your corpse for decoration.

This was co-written by Gavin Williams, but this feels like a very strong, classically Lebbon novel. It was one of my favorites so far, and it just makes me want to dive into more ASAP...so maybe I'll look up Gavin Williams too.

Great read, not sure about the ending

The story really pulls you in, and there are a lot of twists and turns. I'm just not too sure about the ending, it seems to happen rather suddenly. Still a great book though.
