What follows is a collection of “assorted” Jome stories from across multiple previously published books, designed to provide you with a comprehensive introduction to the the “Adventures of Jome” world, as well as a single original story, published no where else.
If you’re 100% new to Jome, we’d suggest reading through this quick overview of the cast of characters
Jome - Emotionally imbalanced homeless man. Believes cows are plotting to take over the world. Briefly owned farm. Entrepreneurially gifted. Selfish to the point of self-delusion.
Ralf - Homeless man who usually lives with Jome. Selfish to the point of criminal.
Harry - Developmentally delayed sasquatch-like creature. He and Ralf make a pair.
Frank - Friend of the family. Obsessive bodybuilder. 80‘s fashion choices.
Miss Julie - Librarian with poor eyesight. Sees the world through “rose-colored glasses” (if at all). Victorian-era values.
Security Man Bobby - Works security at the library, eventually married to Miss Julie. Both suspicious of / impressed by Jome. Self-defeatist thought-patterns.
Officer Karl - City policeman. Background unclear. Self-interested to the point of corruption.
Hal - Jome’s farm hand. Strong, quiet type. Apparently Canadian.
Jolly - Moody, poorly-named monkey. Use sign language to communicate. Selfish to the point of evil.
Social Worker Dan - Young man “trying to make a difference” among the homeless population of the city. Idealistic to the point of self-deception.
Brian Michael Stegner (1979-) was born in Albany, New York, grew up in Portland, Oregon, and attended college in Chicago and Saskatchewan. Primarily a storyteller, Brian specializes in 'Dry-fi', a mashup of literary fiction, nonfiction, science fiction, and dry humor. When not writing, he divides his time between family, church planting, entrepreneurial ventures, coaching, and reluctantly traveling the world.
He lives in Montreal, Quebec with his wife and kids.
