This bible study was good. It was pretty and organized and includes a variety of stories. Something that did bother me was the liberties sometimes taken with some stories like Bathsheba. In this story the writer talks about how David and Bathsheba felt this and thought this and that but that is not biblically accurate because it was not mentioned in the bible at all. Its okay to interpret something a certain way but it was written with such conviction that it almost felt like this was exactly what happened which is...idk. Also, I feel like mentioning Solomon who was a child of Bathsheba and David, who later became king could've been a great addition.
For the Adam and Eve story is was mentioned that it is the second creation myth which is not true. It's not a myth at all. For the Zipporah story there was a lot of questions about why God might try to kill Moses but no like explanation or possibly reasons as to why this occurred. It also mentions how it seems that God wrestles with Moses which was never mentioned and if you search it up, it mentions that Moses was probably experiencing an illness. Also there are no footnotes for that story and if you look at other translations of the Bible Zipporah throws the foreskin at Moses' feet while in other translations it says she rubs it against his feet so that would be something to mention I feel like.
Also, one more thing is that throughout the book when referring to God or Jesus the words he and him were not capitalized which I guess is up to whoever is writing it but I feel like that is something that is a bit hard for me to overlook. Otherwise the rest of the stories were great and some were written really well like the Bleeding women

I already have Volume 1 of The Good and Beautiful Bible Study so when I found out that there was a second volume launching, I was ecstatic. The first thing that I love about this Bible study is that it give you the option to read the key moment that the study is focused on, as well as the full reading so that the scripture can be read in full context. Secondly, I love how the authors created themes that each study focused on and breaks down the original scripture and compares it to modern day examples. Finally, the “pause, ponder, and pray” reflection in each study has to be my favourite thing about this study. The reminder to do these three “p’s” helps me to be in the present moment, to block out all distraction and reflect on the story. It is also so refreshing to have a physical (and might I add, beautiful) bible study book that allows me to take a break from the digital bibles and bible studies and bask in the creativity of God’s word without distraction. This will be my new coffee table book :)

This book takes the best of Alabaster and combines it into a beautiful collection of guided readings, reflections, curated art, and prayer. It is a peaceful and meditative approach to Bible study, compelling you to calm your heart as you hear God’s voice.

There are two things that stood to me in terms of content. First, the book looks at stories from both the Old and New Testaments, such as David & Absalom as well as Priscilla & Aquila. Alabaster really does take the whole of Scripture seriously. Second, this book explores some of the lesser-known Bible characters, such as Bathsheba and Bartimaeus — helping to broaden your horizons as you find inspiration in their stories.

By exploring urgent topics such as recognizing human dignity as well as personal topics such as healing and restoration, this study is broad in scope. Alabaster shows us that Scripture still speaks powerfully to us today.

The First Volume was awesome and the Second Volume was even more incredible!

I couldn’t get enough of the first one and I’m glad Alabaster did a volume two on this beautiful study guide. I love everything about this guide. It truly is the perfect companion with your daily devotionals in the Bible. I love the theme that coincide with each Biblical character and my favorite part is the Reflection pages where it allows us to pause, ponder, and pray after every section. This guide is not only beautifully designed but every page is intricately well thought of.

This study is an amazing tool to help you grow your knowledge about different books in the Bible. I love that I can study through this and my Bible at the same time. I love that this book offers key verses to study as well as perspectives in a story form! It really makes me feel more connected to the stories in the Bible than just reading straight out of the Bible and as a new reader, this has helped with my theology a lot! The structure of this study is just perfect for a busy homeschooling mama. I’m able to dip my feet into the word for a few minutes a day and fill my cup just as much with this book. With this study, Alabaster combines beautiful images with the beautiful Word and makes something truly special for the believer as they dive deeper into their relationship with Jesus. I love the integration of art as a tool for reflection in this guide. I also love the structure of each chapter or section, if you will. I think it should be on every Christian’s shelf – perfect for those just starting in their walk with God, and a reminder of simplicity, getting back to the “basics,” for those who may have been following Jesus for quite some time. So excited for others to read this!

When I learned of this release, part two of The Beautiful Bible Study, I was extremely excited to be part of reading this study.

This Volume, as all of their books, was just so beautifully crafted. The photos / drawings within each Chapter are uniquely presented to tell the story in one snap shot. I use them to meditate upon what I have read within the days study. These books always relax my mind, soul and spirit and make me stop and simply "BE STILL" within the time I have dedicated for that day. I enjoy my study time, look forward to it.

I can not recommend this company's products enough and this study, it is a must have for your collection.

I love the Alabaster line of Bible books. I love this specific Bible study of the white space, colors, design, and points of reflection scattered through the book that call you to reflect, pause, ponder, and pray. In the intro for this book it says 'The Bible is good and beautiful' and it's a good reminder that the book that we have so readily available in the US contains amazing promises and miracles, and the greatest story of love and sacrifice ever to be written. This study takes you through a variety of relevant topics and is formatted to help you integrate Bible passages and stories into your present life. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to fall in love with God again and appreciate His Word for the beautiful book it is. I am excited with how Alabaster Co delivered yet another master piece in their The Good and Beautiful Bible Study Volume 2. They balance the simplicity of art and content within each study while maximizing the engagement element of each study with their structure of the reflection section, comprised of Pause, Ponder, and Pray. Im a huge fan of alabaster books, I purchased a bundle for my sister as a christmas gift and she absolutely loved it. When I found out The good and beautiful bible study volume 2 was coming out I was so excited to get my hands on it. I received a e-copy and skimmed through the whole study. I love the way each chapter has a reflection section to go over that you read. Im so excited to receive the physical book to incorporate it into my morning reading routine. I was thrilled to get this as a gift from my husband. However, after beginning the second day, I was appalled at the mention that the accounts of Creation were a myth and that the author believes Genesis 3 isn’t about the “fall” and “sin” at all. That is not biblically accurate and I was so incredibly disappointed that this does not seem to be a trustworthy source, at least for Bible studies. I do also have their bibles which hopefully have not taken any liberties and are true to biblical text.

The illustrations are beautiful and the design is clean but God’s truth is always first and if a Bible study does not have that then I need to pass.

This book has gone the way of most churches. Woke. Red flag 🚩 #1: Not directing you to actually READ the scripture for yourself. 🚩 #2 (let me preface this by saying I’m NOT referring to the abuse, nor promoting that) Patriarchy being talked about as a curse. That is meant as a covering, as protection for wives. Not as a lordship to beat down women. 🙄. 🚩 #3 Saying how we are separated from the land, even today. Without lighting a match here about global warming- let me just simply say how about we focus on how we have separated ourselves from God and allowed modern wokeness and ideals in the church? End my soapbox. Don’t buy this.

The Good and Beautiful Bible Study 2 is the perfect sturdy for quiet meditation and reflection. I love how each study is based out of scripture. I started by reading the Bible passages referenced, I then read the text in the study. I often find that reflecting and diving deep into the Bible can be challenging but this next part of the study helps you do this step by step. I also love that they included artwork in your reflection. It truly is a great tool and resource! I love the art you can look at as you reflect on the story. The key moment verse and synopsis’ are awesome if you’re wondering what that days study will be about! I LOVE this new Bible study. My favorite part is the “Reflect” portion. Often when we read the Bible we are tempted to just “check it off the to-do list”…and what we read goes in one ear and out the other. But the “reflect” portion challenges us to sit with what we just read, ponder it, question it, and pray it. Allowing the word to grow roots in our hearts.
