Let’s be most books about money are boring! Our brains crave stories, not seminars. Mind Your Money delivers all the personal finance basics through insightful stories with a splash of sass. Yanely Espinal knows how to make things easy to understand, which has earned her millions of views on YouTube as MissBeHelpful. Whether you’re frustrated with your budget, dealing with debt, or struggling to raise that credit score, this book will motivate and inspire you to finally reach your #MoneyGoals.
This is a great book for those who grew up in a low income community and/or have had limited financial literacy knowledge passed down to them. I fit both of these descriptors. The book has relatable stories, strategies and knowledge to improve your financial position.
I listened to this book on audible. If I had to rate this book off of what i learned, i would have given it 3 stars. BUT - that’s because i don’t think this book was meant for me. While i didn’t learn a lot from my parents, i was definitely more well off than Yanely and those i think she is writing too.
But i loved her message, her storytelling style, and her recommendations. She kept it real and simple. If you’re a Dave Ramsay fan, this book may not be 100% for you… but Dave is more on the extreme side of financial literacy and building wealth.
This book is for anyone who grew up poor or feels extremely uneducated about all things finances.
Super relatable and fun to read! You can’t say that about many financial books. I loved that in the first few pages, I was able to start dialogue with family and friends that hate talking about money. Definitely read if you’re even the tiniest bit curious about improving your financial health
I really enjoyed this book - especially in audio format. It’s mostly directed towards Americans who grew up without financial literacy. Many topics covered in the book were not new to me because I’ve been working on financial literacy for a while now. However, it did fill in many gaps between the things that I knew and I learned a couple new things too. The most important elements of this book are that it is personable, full of specific + helpful information, and does not shame anyone for past money mistakes.
This self-help book is geared towards young adults, written in a casual, conversational style. If you are new to the world of personal finance, Yanely Espinal (MissBeHelpful) gives solid, approachable advice, but there is something here for everyone. I'm a high school personal finance teacher, and I learned some new things. I'd love to be able to give this as a graduation gift to all my seniors.
Finally finished this ebook. I mostly only read it at work when it was slow. But this was one of the best financial books I’ve read so far. She explains things really well and gives examples that make sense. She is funny and helps you learn about money (credit/loans/stock market/etc) in a way that doesn’t make you feel bad about what you didn’t know.
Super easy read. I would recommend this book to people who are in debt but don't know how to get out. She explains it in such an easy way and gives personal stories which make it so much more engaging. I learned quite a bit on the credit syllabus chapter. Great read!
This is an excellent book if you no little about savings and preparing yourself for success with your finances. All High School/College students should read it!
