Planet Atraxis Warriors #1

Captured By The Alien Barbarian

Rate this book
He made me his prisoner. I’ll never love a beast like him.

As if my staggering debts weren’t bad enough, when I venture into the wilds of planet Atraxis, I find myself face-to-face with a wild beast. But just before I straight up die, a massive alien barbarian comes to my rescue.

Taccit has tattoos, a tail, and a whole lot of attitude. He saves my life, claiming me as his fated mate. Oh, and did I mention he's adamant that I'm his prisoner?

I didn't sign up for this. Too bad for him, I'm not one to back down. I will never submit to him—no matter how tempting he may be.

"Captured By The Alien Barbarian" is a humorous, steamy sci-fi monster romance set in the Planet Atraxis Warriors series. Expect intergalactic miscommunications, perilous danger, and possessive alien mates.

Ariana (h), a colonist and miner on planet Atraxis, escapes into the surrounding forest to avoid Walter, the overseer of the colony who lusts after her. In the forest, she is attacked and injured by a vicious beast but is saved by Taccit (H), a native alien who recognizes Ariana as his fated mate when his mate markings appear. Desperate to save her, he treats her wounds and restricts her to his home to protect her from further danger. Once Ariana is healed, she continually attempts to escape him until they reach a tentative truce. However, Ariana is not completely sold on the idea of them being mates, while Taccit is determined to keep her. Despite their differences, they begin to fall for one another as their relationship deepens. Loved Ariana’s snarkiness and the miscommunications as Ariana and Taccit fall for one another. Lovely fated mates romance with plenty of adventure, heat, and humor.

This was an interesting book. After reading the first this male Taccit took a completely different approach then his brother Balroth did. Coming from two different upbringing can be the cause. Ariana was a different personality then Eve was too. The connection was instant in book one. This book (the second) was more like I would take an alien/human encounter.
They had their own challenges and behaviors to overcome. They both needed better communication to each other. Taccit had no communication since he has spent most of his life alone. Whereas Ariana came from a community. But they do have the attraction to build things on.
I can’t wait to see where this series goes from here. Do we get the last brother. Do we get Taccit’s friend or do we follow the last two women in this tight group of human females?

Such a lovely book! I love the storyline + that it is a caveman type vibe. That is one of my favorite book tropes and the author does such a good job with it. I enjoyed all the adventure these characters had and it definitely felt full enough content wise. I also can appreciate the struggles + conflict that was included. The perfect lil batch of things to read.

No thank you. It isn’t believable in the sense of yeah it’s aliens but a well written story no matter how weird it is can be pretty dang believable this is not one of those stories. Everything is forced to work and the author had points she wanted to hit so she made it work even at the cost of the story

Ariana came to the wild planet Atraxis for a better life. What she finds is a hard life of mining and farming in an attempt to pay off the debts left to her from her husband's sudden death. When a wealthy colonist, Walter, revokes her access to his mine in an attempt to strong arm her into marrying him, Ariana is forced to leave the colony to search for another cave to mine. During her exploration, she is horribly injured by the local wildlife, where she is found by a native, Taccit.

Taccit has been living in exile from his tribe for many years, and he is shocked to when his mate markings appear when he saves Ariana's life. Desperate to save her, he treats her wounds and restricts her to his home to protect her from further danger. Once Ariana is healed, she continually attempts to escape him until they reach a tentative truce. She's not completely sold on the idea of them being mates, while Taccit is determined to keep her.

Atraxis is an interesting world and both main characters grow in believable ways that make you want their relationship to succeed. My only complaint is that Taccit toggles between being a big cinnamon roll type character to a suddenly controlling, light bondage character with little to no notice. While bondage can be fun between consenting adults, Ariana has a reasonable reaction to being tied up given their history. This discomfort is never addressed by the couple, and is gradually ignored. It would have been nice to see this trauma be addressed between the couple, especially since it was literally caused by Taccit actions.

Overall a fun read with a variety to the inhabitants of Atraxis to make you excited for the next book in the series.

Excellent World building, intricate and creative. Now I want a d r o l v! I didn't like Ariana in the beginning, she was much too stubborn for my taste. But other characters were fun and lightened the story. The story moves quickly and has a lot of really good action scenes. The sex is moderately to well describe and very passionate. I love to Taccit, even though he was poor with words he was still able to show his vulnerability and his tears. I enjoyed the building of the romance from distressed and misunderstanding to one of compassion and love.

Loved this story. It's got all the faves: fated mates, miscommunication, possessive male. I would also recommend getting you hands on the prequel if you can. I hope there are more books for the other girls in the friend group.

An interestingly addictive story by a relatively new author for me. I sat down with this story and the next thing I knew, it was morning. I had been so taken by the story I read all night.
Loved the characters. Loved the story. Love the author and can't wait for the next one.

This was a great book and i loved every page i turned and stayed up late to read it and i loved the bouns short story. Ariana is a human female that has come from Earth to the planet Alraxis to colonize it as there new home and everything was going fine until her Husband died leaving her in debt and must work the mines to pay the debt off and there Leader Walter Sullivan makes sure she does and at every chance he make a moves on her but she knocks him back every time because he gives her the creeps and now he forces her hand and she walks away to find her own cave to dig for the sorium she needs to pay her debt. Taccit is a native Barbarian warrior who has lived on Alraxis all his life and after his father died he feels its his fault and leaves his Clan blaming himself and now lives alone with his pets but while out hunting his pets hear a cry from a human and then a roar of a beast and Taccit rants to save the person and when he comes upon the seen he realizes its a female being bitten he jumps into save her and the beast feels is out numbered and leaves and so Taccit takes her to his cave after touching her his mating marks appear and he shocked that he finally found his mate and he will do everything to save her life. Ariana wakes up in a cave with a huge green barbarian standing over her and she is scared of the alien male and just want to go back to the colony. There is so many twist and turns, action, drama, danger, deceit, betrayal and eventually love. This is a must read book and series that i know you will love.

The second book in the Planet Atraxis Warriors series. Taccit and Ariana's story is well written with a good storyline, he will make some mistakes. There is drama, danger, suspense, villains and mates. I enjoyed seeing them get a happy ending with all the twists and turns they had to overcome. This first book in the upcoming series is absolutely great. Atraxis has just been colonized by humans due it's rich source of the mineral Sorium. Ariana is part of the colony and just wants to farm her plot of land. When her arranged marriage ends after her husbands sudden death, she is saddled with a huge debt. The only way to clear the debt is to work in the mines. After a run-in with the mine's overseer, she desperately searches for another source. This leads to a close encounter with a beast that wants her for their dinner. Enter Taccit, one of the natives of Atraxis.
I loved the relationship building between Ariana and Taccit. There's lots of action and plenty of "steam" A great read & I can't wait for the next book in the series.
If you haven't read the prequel I recommend it.
NOTE: I received an advanced copy for free and I'm giving the review voluntarily. (I will also be purchasing the book. )

Ariana, the human female lead, moved to the colony planet, Atraxis, hoping for a new life and to maybe sponsor her family later. But her husband has died and one of his “friends” is hassling her to marry him, given that her life is currently undergoing hardship. When he pushes too hard, she runs away from the settlement and is attacked by a native predator.

Taccit, the male alien lead, is in self-imposed exile over the guilt he feels he bears for his father’s death. When he hears screams, he investigates, finding Ariana and saving her life. When he moves her to his home, his body produces mate markings and he’s excited to have found his mate. But he’s rather overbearing and Ariana isn’t willing to put up with it. Also, her suitor isn’t willing to give up either…

This story is dual POV, well written, and an interesting culture-clash romance. I appreciated Ariana’s willingness to compromise. I appreciated Taccit’s personal development and his willingness to change to save and assist Ariana. I enjoyed their intimate scenes. I also enjoyed the bonus epilogue.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

I really enjoyed this wild ride of an adventure love story. It has action, fear, sexy aliens, and evildoers. It illustrates that you can’t judge someone by their unfamiliar looks.
This was my first book to read in the series and it is a standalone but I felt I was missing something because I haven’t read book 1. Now I want to read the other books in the series.

Colonizing another planet certainly presents many challenges. Ariana seems to be in a difficult situation- that takes a turn for the worse. Taccit finding her by chance triggers an interesting connection that is hard to deny. I really liked this unique world and the differences between humans and the resident aliens and other creatures. Finding common ground and getting to know each other is always so interesting! The added suspense back at the human colony sets the stage for confrontation and resolution. Seeing hints of other alien characters making connections with human colony members has me looking forward to a continuation of this story line!

I received an ARC and am voluntarily sharing my honest review.

A new author for me and thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is about Ariana and Taccit. It was quite an adventure and loved the pair as they grew together around their world. There is everything you desire in a sci fi story of mates and those around them. I look forward to reading more of this authors works and... :D loved the recipe at the end. May have to try it out! :)

Honestly so good, couldn’t put it down once I started it. Loved Taccit very possessive but quite sweet. Perfectly balanced alpha male. His story with Ariana was just too cute. Loved the ending, can’t wait to see little ones in the future. Loved how Eve and Balroth were included towards the end too. Spice was on point, perfect balance between a budding romance and smut 😂 Can’t wait to see what Kate writes next, so glad I was able to arc read this one.

DNF @ 47%

The characterization just didn’t work for this one; the plot was thin, the dialogue was atrocious.

Why did MMC find his fated mate and the first thing he says to her is basically, “you’re my prisoner and you’re never getting away?” This could work for a dark romance with a morally gray MMC, but then in all his POV chapters, all he can think about is how smol the FMC is and how he wants to protect her etc etc; why didn’t he just say THAT instead? His rash and cruel words and lack of reasonable explanations are the only reason the FMC wanted to escape and possibly get herself caught/killed/hurt/etc. As soon as he explained to the FMC about the dangers of going outside, she got it immediately and complied.

He also destroyed her only garment and knows she’d probably want clothes but just DGAF. It’s unbelievably callous for someone who thinks he’s caring for her.

Luckily, FMC will accept any meager scrap of evidence of him being not outright hostile as a sign that he’s a good person deep down or whatever, so she’s fine with it. And yes, she’s aware of Stockholm Syndrome and is certain it’s not that. *eyeroll*

There’s so many little tiny things that show a lack of care and attention to detail in this book. MMC implants FMC with a universal translator—a staple of the genre—but the way it happens is so weird. He lives alone, he walks in to his place from hunting or something, tries to talk to the FMC when he realizes she’s awake, she doesn’t understand, so he just jabs her with the thing out of nowhere and then says “oh yeah all kids get one on our home planet idk why you don’t have one?” Like why did he have one? Was he expecting to suddenly become a parent? Why does he live in a cave alone as a hunter-gatherer with this advanced tech? FMC’s monologue explains that her company was too cheap to send her to space with one, but also that this planet wasn’t supposed to have sentient life on it—so if MMC’s people aren’t spacefaring and don’t have contact with others on their home world (like these humans) why do they use translator implants at all? Why does the translator implant know English perfectly, but MMC doesn’t understand the meaning of the phrase “femme fatale”? How does he know what blushing looks like on humans, even though his people are green-skinned, and what it means when humans do it, but he doesn’t understand smiling or kissing? If his people have agriculture, and the universal translator works correctly, why does he not know what a farmer or garden is?

Good God this was bad. And not in a, 'it's so bad it's fun', kind of way. This is all the stuff I love crammed into all the stuff I hate. I love alien romances on strange new planets. I love fated mates. I love alpha males and I love capable resilient females. We have all those elements but they are so poorly/horrible executed by Kate the author. The things I hate are mis/no communication, characters that run hot and cold due to weak assumptions and the oh so popular female character that is 'too stupid to live'. I know I just contradicted myself by saying this had a capable resilient main lead but I also stated that it was poorly done leaving us with a trash love interest.
During each characters POV they both went through circular thought vomit that they failed to share with each other causing moronic problems. And then there was the sex that felt so out of place and just awkward. Why didn't I DNF? Don't know but I should have, now I'll never get that time back.

providing a honest review as an arc reader after receiving a complementary copy from the author.

I only scored this on 2 stars an ok rating.

I really wanted to like it as I love a human/alien love story but this one just left to many unanswered question to be really enjoyable.

This book felt more like a draft then a finished book to me and I leave the following feed back as constructive criticism that will hopefully be help full to the author (if she reads it that is)

the debts
it was written that workers agreed upon number of years work for travel. how many years? does found ore factor into that? who gets the profit? are individuals responsible for their own travel years can they be held accountable for others? Was unsure how she could be responsible for her husbands debt. when the characters were talking about the debt it came across as more of a dollar amount than years? was the debt time or money could it be reduce with ore found. What were they going to do after the debt was paid? work for wages?

shouldn't the expedition work together with roles assigned? why would a doctor charge on the alien planet? how did money work? was their trade or shops? how did trading in found ore work?

how can humans live on a planet with aliens and there be no communication or fighting between them? taccit seemed unaware of humans how is that possible when they are close enough to accidently run into each other?

What is the medicine and why is it so taboo? this made so sense to be if it is so taboo why does taccit even have such easy access to it?

taccit said his species had been on the planet for a few generations. where did they come from and why? If they were an advanced enough species to travel to other planets why do they live like cavemen? and how do they still have extra translators to hand out? is there a factory still making them and why did taccit have a spare one when he lived alone? why didn't the tribes have a communal language since they all travel there together?

if the expedition was there to find ore why were they still using a tapped out mine instead of looking for more?

I did not like the female lead she was so childish picking fights, sulking and doing dangerous things taccit had asked her not to do just to spite him. she could not make up her mind I want to go I want to stay. Why did she leave with James when his previous comments made her want to turn her back on humans made no sense.

I did not enjoy the Male lead either he was so timid and made assumptions about how his people felt without ever asking. but then he was the opposite when it came to sex which made no sense. was he a virgin? said all the woman he knew were mated but then talked about pleasure partners? was that allowed in mated woman or did they do that first and had taccit ever had a pleasure partner?
If the human could mate with the aliens why were not the aliens trying to get human mates if there was such a lower percent of females?

this book was I think number two in a series? I did not read the first book but this book read as if the reader had read the first one. there sound have been a recap of the last book to make more sense of the eve storyline. with more back story this could have been a stand alone book but instead came off as one of a series requiring reading in order to fully understand.

The Stacy character was a bit off to me. was so a young kid who got in trouble or some one who knew about all about medicine and treating people? they two seem like they could not be the same person. she was not even in the book why did she get referred to so much?

if Walter was so rich why was he trying to get her inheritance? how did she not know about it? how much was it? why had no one contacted her about it?
How could Walter had possibly arranged a wedding without her? why would the other men be in on and part of Walter's plan to make the fake marriage? what had Walter offered them?
Who were Walter's family to be so powerful? were they really powerful? his words sounded like rantings of a crazed person. How could his family control the government and give people jobs in the government? was someone in is family in charge of the government? they sounded outside but above the government? this was very unclear. why was he making her dress up? who was she dressing up for?

They story of her best friend getting married hating her husband and filing for divorce days later but not saying anything and still living with him was very odd. and she just happen to be a super hacker who had access to computers and knew what to find at the exact time to tell her missing presumed dead friend. money that turns out she did not want or need anyway because she was staying with the alien.
If Walter had not needed her to get married why did he need her to get his hands on the money? what did he need her for this was unclear.

would I read this book again no but I would trying other books by this author.

The planet Atraxis has a wealth of a mineral called Sorium, which can be refined into fuel for everything from small gadgets to spaceships as well as formed into fine gems. That's what brings a colony of humans here for mining. It is a wild and untamed planet, so sparsely populated that the humans are barely aware of any other inhabitants or species except for the dangerous wildlife.

Ariana and three of her female friends are among the colonists/miners. The colony is overseen by Walter Sullivan, who lusts after Ariana and, falsely it turns out, claims she owes a substantial debt which she must repay with the fruits of her mining efforts. His feelings are not reciprocated, and she would like nothing more than to be left alone to farm her little plot of land outside the colony's fortifications.

On a day when Walter has become particularly obnoxious, Ariana takes her chance to escape. She runs into the surrounding forest and soon finds herself facing a huge, hairy and vicious beast that sees her as its next meal. She is wounded in her attempt to defend herself and blacks out just before the beast is chased off by Taccit, one of the few human-like, native species of Atraxis. He recognizes Ariana as one of the creatures that came in a ship from the sky...and as his fated mate. She doesn't believe in that precept, although she cannot deny a certain primal attraction to the big hulking alien. Once he carries her back to his home and she wakes up, she looks around what appears to be a cave carved out of the side of a small mountain. Ariana is shocked at how neat and clean everything is. Is this "beast" as civilized as it appears?

Taccit treats Ariana's wounds with some strange-smelling medicine, and she is amazed at how her healing begins immediately. Although he has made no move to harm her, she still makes several attempts at escape, none of which are ultimately successful. Each time Taccit has to rescue her from danger or further harm. She is very stubborn and thus begins the oddly contrary relationship between the two.

The story is told with quite a bit of snarky dialog from Ariana, which for me conflicts with the alien nature of our male protagonist, who also engages in language that is too human to be believable. If his speech was more alien, I would have given the story a five-star rating. Otherwise, the story itself was intriguing, interesting and well-developed. A couple of mysteries are revealed during the telling of Taccit and Ariana's story, one of which leads into the next book in this series but doesn't detract in the least from this HEA.

Ariana left the strict caste system on earth to find a better life in the stars. Instead she finds she must risk life and limb to avoid being forced into marriage with the head of her village. She is saved from certain death by Tacit. He recognizes his mate but can he convince Ariana to stay? To do so they must face both their pasts and present enemies.
There is a prequel that I think is helpful to read first but not necessary. The planet is interesting. The plot and world building are good. There are a few unanswered questions that I think will be answered in the next books but this does have an HEA. I like Taccit although he drives me nuts that he doesn't communicate well and/or explain his actions even when he and Ariana can understand each other. I also like Ariana. She seems strong although a bit reckless at times. She is forgiving and understanding of the Taccit's past and how it effects the way he treats her. Their story is different. It was both frustrating because of Taccit keeping her a prisoner for her safety and giving me the feels because he truly will do anything for her. Interesting world building.
There is a bit of light spanking and punishment as well as a language barrier in the beginning. I like it. I would give the next book a shot There are a few things that didn't seem to make much sense to me but didn't lessen my enjoyment of the story too much. **Spoiler** I don't know how Ariana doesn't know she was left money by her husband. This is sort of explained but if her and her husband both left wills I don't know how they wouldn't have discussed what was in them with each other.

This story had some genuine emotional depth to it and took a look at some interesting issues about male/female power dynamics, what it means to be a friend, and how we let our own cultural preconceptions influence our actions and reactions to those around us (in addition to being a worthy entry into the world of fated mates and alien abduction, with a little kinky romance thrown in). Instead of assuming that the pull of a fated mate bond is always a two-way street and bestows instant attraction in a relationship, we see what happens when a human female, Ariana, actually requires an emotional and intellectual partnership with her alien fated mate, Taccit, to complete their connection. They literally come from different worlds and both carry their own set of baggage from past relationships both familial and romantic. Just like real life, the two lovers must learn how to adapt and compromise as they learn each other's strengths and weaknesses. Taccit often sees things in black and white distinctions, while Ariana is constantly evaluating the slippery slope between protective warmth and overbearing dominance. They have radically different views of what it takes to be a good life partner, and their definitions are put to the test as they contend with each other and their respective communities.

This was such a cute and heartwarming read! Some of my favorite things about this book:

-A beefy, strong and possessive MMC with a gooey center. Taccit is such a good guy at heart and completely loveable.
-A stubborn and fiesty FMC with some hardcore feels for MMC. Ariana was a relatable character in that her reactions to everything felt realistic.
-A swoon worthy romance that was just perfection in itself. Seriously, this was a case of "he falls first" and it was really sweet to see Ariana fall just as deeply as Taccit.
-The romance definitely gets spicy, but it's well written! I liked that there was a little bit of "cat and mouse" at play. Which, typically I'm not into that with my spicy reads, but it worked well and wasn't overly done in this book.
-This book had awesome Worldbuilding! I mean, I loved how the jungle was just as dangerous as it was intriguing.
-The side characters were all loveable. I really can't wait for all of Taccit's brothers to find their mates. Speaking of which, this book is definitely set up well for more to follow. I'm ready for it!

Overall, I definitely recommend this book. It was a solid 4.5 star read. I'm docking half a star due to a small typo that I caught a third of the way through. I had to stop and reread to make sense of the sentence. Other than that, this book was well written and is well worth the read!

Loving this new series.
First, if you haven't picked up the first book in this series, make sure you do. It was excellent as well. That being said, you do not need to read it in order to follow along with this one. They both standalone easily.

Ariana is a farmer through and through. There is nothing she loves better than having her hands elbow-deep in the soil as she coaxes plants to life. But when her arranged marriage ends in her husband's death, she finds herself in debt to the new colony with only one way to clear the debt. Mining may have her up to her elbows in dirt, but she sure isn't coaxing anything to life. To top it off, she's being pursued by the community's financial manager and he gives her the complete willies. When he cuts off her access to her only source of income, she takes desperate moves by wandering farther afield of their small town than anyone has before. Wandering so far has its consequences, though.

When the self-imposed outcast, Taccit rescues the small human female, he discovers his life mate. Nothing will stop him from keeping her safe, including her own shenanigans. She may be his prisoner, but he is her loving captor through and through.

Can't wait for the next in the series.

Ariana and Taccit . . .

Ariana is brought to a planet for mining. The man in charge is Walter Sullivan, an obnoxious man who wants Ariana for himself. When he becomes pushy about it, she heads for the dangerous forest and is attacked by a beast and injured. Taccit rescues her and takes her to his cave as his prisoner. He actually recognizes that she is his mate, but he will have to convince her of that.

Despite Taccit’s kindness, Ariana runs every chance she gets, always putting herself (and him) in danger needlessly. She is beyond stubborn, swearing to never submit to him despite the attraction she can feel. Will he one day convince her they belong together? Or will she continue putting herself at risk of death just because she refuses to ever back down?

Ariana wins the award for most annoying character. She can’t see how Taccit adores her and how kind he is. Perhaps she should return to Walter and take a second look at what a real jerk is. The only thing that could make the story worse is if they got into spanking… oh, yes they do. And of course she likes it. Will she ever see what’s right in front of her? Or will she throw away her chance for happiness?

I enjoyed this book. Life on earth is difficult, a lucky few with the funds can travel to a planet bound for colonization. Rough, rugged, scary animals but no aliens..... right?

Our leading lady Ariana ventures off to mine for ore after being banned from mining at the colony mine as she refusing the advances of a man that runs the town (Walter) (he's a dick), attacked by a monster she is surly for the other world, or not! Taccit is a native to the planted, tall muscular, tattoos, claws anddd a tail....
Now Ariana wakes up in a cave, tied to a wall. The Alien who saved her says she is his and his prisoner.

What could possibly go wrong.
Tattic is sweet, haunted by a childhood incident which made him leave his tribe, he has the best intentions but struggles on the delivery. Plus his 3 furry companions are adorable.

It's a good story, I loved the world building and the character development, the addition of Melvall was so good, the snarky banter between the two boys was chefs kiss. I hope he gets his own story.

ouu, nearly forgot, the hot cakes recipe at the end earned extra points haha

Book one in this series is packed FULL. It is not a fast read but it a very enjoyable read.
Ariana was really foolish at first but the more you come to know her and her spirit you find out why she is the way she is. Taccit is just full of surprises and wow is he devoted to his mate.
The first book gives you so much information as to why the humans are on this planet and how they got there. You learn a little about the Tribe Taccit is from plus a few other variety of tribes on the planet. You are told about the flora and fauna as well. But it did not seem like a science book it just flowed with the story. The drama with the colony men and the hunters keep you on your toes. The extra characters in the book really helped tie everything together. Plus left so many questions as to what is to come. Like for instance the healing cream that Taccit used on Ariana -- Where did it come from?
I am excited to put this series on my I need to read list !.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Loved this book, I didn’t want to put it down. Lots of action. And just the right amount of steam.
Eve travel to a new planet Atraxis where she finds it hard after she is left with debts following the death of her husband. Struggling to run a small farm, whilst also working at the mine, she also trying to avoid the attention of one man who insists on pursuing her. He even sacks her from the mine in hope that will lead her to him. Instead determined Eve set off to dig other caves further from the colony, she hits the jackpot and turns for home when she is attacked by a wild beast. Taccit, an alien, finds and saves her. She is his fated mate, but it’s not all plain sailing from here . And the story gets better and better. I won’t say any more as I don’t want to ruin the story for you. But if you enjoy Alien Romance and Fated Mates stories, with a little steam, then you’ll enjoy this book.
