The author, a communist sympathizer, used only ten sources - all books - to write an abridged (i.e. cherry picked) biography of a man he describes as "tender," "poetic," "moderate," and "genius." The Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution are glossed over with little comment on the atrocities and zero comment on the body count. Carter offers plenty of his own analysis, including a proclamation that "The Soviet Union is here to stay." This book is a case study in hagiography and worth reading only as a means to better understand the methods Marxists use to obfuscate left-wing atrocities.
This is a biography of Mao Tse-tung who was the leader of communist China for many years. It also tells a little of China's history and of Moa's military service.
