This book is geared towards people new to investing and is a helpful resource for learning common financial metrics and terminology. It also provides a decent framework for identifying good companies. Chapter 2 was my favorite, as it profiles some of the most successful money managers, giving a glimpse into their ideology. However, I disagree with some, if not most, of the investment strategies presented in this book.
The book is a little outdated as the expansion of the internet and online brokerages has boomed in the decade-plus since the publication. However, the author does a great job of explaining the timeless metrics to look at when investing, and also what to look at when you are just getting started in investing. The chapter with insight into how famous successful investors look at investing is very informative and helps see different strategies. Overall it's a solid read, but there has been so much change on wall street that newer publications would be more beneficial to readers.
