Dominique Sourdel was a French historian specialized in medieval Islam.
He was an honorary professor of Islamic History and Civilization at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne. He was also director of the Revue des Etudes Islamiques and co-directs with Janine Sourdel, professor emeritus of history of Islamic art and archeology at the University of Paris-Sorbonne, the "Islamic" collection at the Presses Universitaires de France.
Une bonne introduction à l'histoire des Arabes. Il est important de relever qu'il s'agit d'un balayage des grandes tendances historiques - toutefois sans trop entrer dans les détails - des mondes Arabes, de la période pré-islamique [Ve-VIe siècle] jusqu'à nos jours. Cette ouvrage permet d'éclairer le lecteur pour qui cette histoire de cette partie importante du globe est inconnue.
Arap -ve İslam- tarihine dışardan bir bakış; okunması gereken güzel bir başlangıç kitabı. Ancak çeviri üzerine yorum bile yapmaktan imtina etmek isterim: Her sayfasında "hanedanlık" yazacak kadar bir Türkçe kılavuzdan, sözlükten nasıl bu kadar uzak olunabilir, bilmiyorum.
This is a book of history literally as the title says. You feel like you're in a documental and I like that personally. If you want to know the exact things, in a way that can be told, you should read his small book that takes one day to read!
