Things are REALLY picking up at this point and I love it. This book has more action and suspense than horror, but I think that makes sense considering the plot and the fact that we're nearing the end of the series. I really, really love Iris as a character and am thrilled that we got to know so much more about her in this book, even if most of it was tinged with fear as she was held captive.
I also love the twists with the creature this time around and how everything was handled with Lycke-Marie. It might seem odd to give a side character so much development in a book this late in the series, but that's one of the things I like the most about these books. I genuinely care about the characters, even if they're just minor ones, because they're given the same time and care as the major ones. It makes the whole town feel more real and alive, because it's populated by people I like and care about. It raises the stakes even more, because I don't want anything bad to happen to Mariefred as a whole.
So yeah, very much enjoyed this one!
