What was meant to be a holiday in Italy turns into the next adventure for Professor Elliot Brand, when he is asked to advise on underwater ruins found in the Mediterranean Sea. But an unknown ancient civilisation is the least of his problems. Traitors, saborteurs and ancient horrors await Elliot Brand and they all lurk hundreds of feet under the surface of the sea.
Set between The Ancestor Trap and The Missing Link this book can also be enjoyed as a standalone novel.
Excitement Deep Under the Sea with a Murder Mystery!
Wow! Another exciting story from this author! I sure am reading a lot of these Ancient Secrets books today. And its a super relaxing way to spend a freezing cold Saturday... These fun thrillers are just perfect.
I must admit that going deep under the sea is a place I never expected Elliot to go. I guess most of the time I think of archeology either on land or else maybe in caves deep underground. But the author is correct: sometimes old ruins are found deep under the water. In fact not long ago I read an article about some Stonehenge like area on the floor of Lake Michigan.
This story is about the Sea People. Who were they? No one is really sure... But Elliot gets involved with this group that has experimental gadgets and they found some ruins super deep down under water. He is not too crazy about going down there - and I certainly share his anxiety about that - I can just imagine the horrible creaking + groaning of the hull from all that water pressure - but he takes the job... Unfortunately there is a murderer on board! Yes it was the last thing I had expected. This story is like a mystery in many ways as you try to guess who is doing it as one accident after another plagues the expedition. Its very thrilling.
Loads of fun! I loved all the scenes in here, especially when Elliott was exploring the old ruins. Lots of imagination and great details in here. This one is a tad different from the previous books which I appreciate too.. And Ashra is not in this one so don't expect all of those guns. Elliott truly has to use his intelligence here. But like the others the story flows smoothly and its great fun. The bit about the extinct civilization was a tad sad as Elliot figured out what had happened... Those poor people.
When reading this one I began to realize that each of these books explores different ideas about what a previous civilization may have been like... But they are great fun. Adventure stories.
Just finished this Ancient Secrets Book #5; have enjoyed all in the series so far. However, it appears to me that book #5 should be #4 in the series, as it ends with Elliot receiving a message from his "ex" about an adventure in South America. All of the memories he relates in this book of Asrah do not mention South America and the giant caterpillars (which to me would be quite memorable!)
I enjoy reading about all the locales Elliot and Ashra visit. Just makes you wonder how much ancient history will never be uncovered, for various reasons.
For the most part it is a good read. I found several instances of miss placed words that made you go hmmm, and think it through. Very simple story line with a bit of kick. Enjoyable but could be expanded instead of just another serial story series.
Archeological find, deceit, murder, whodunit, hallucinations and a shark. Madness of one can eliminate a whole team. Was it always there or was it the algae? It makes me want to stay out of the water. Maybe close to shore would be okay? Great job. Professor Brant is fantastic. Thank you.
Never boring. From the beginning to end, there was no down time. Wonderful details of History and the risks of being underwater adding to the building suspense and mystery.
Your stories just get better and better! I can’t wait to read more. You are an excellent writer. I love that you are an eclectic writer. Also, you have so many genres in one book, fantastic!
Terrific series. Enough action and suspense to satisfy everybody...believable storyline. Nice character development and good sexual tension without any explicit scenes or language.
The author has is a good story-teller. I found the story compelling, but limited by poor editing and violations of principles of basic physics and biology.
A somewhat stretched storyline, along so many other Atlantis stories. Not sure I’ll continue this series….not developed enough yet too long for a short story.
Oh wow, this series just keeps getting better book by book! This time Elliott heads several thousand feet under water for lost treasure and nearly loses his life in the process.
Another good adventure in the Brand series. I would recommend to the author to have a good proofreader go over his stories. As you read you come across a few real clunkers that either don’t make sense or a phrase that a professor would never use.
This series is wildly entertaining. Elliot is an archeogist but not an Indiana Jones. More original than that. Settings are well described characters are developing, growing . It os purely entertaining
This adventure was a little The Abyss with some Jaws thrown in. A "who dunnit" with the culprit still doing it!!! Who was picking off the team and why? What did they find deep in the ocean? And who would make it back to the surface? Good job once again.
The professor is lured into another problem but this is underwater! Although initially not willing to go he is enticed into going! Another smashing adventure awaits!
This wasn't as good and the others I've read. I liked the premise but it seemed to have too much magic I in the last parts of the book. Still interesting though.
Like an adventure under the sea, this is the one for you. Dangerous, intriguing, mysterious, and something I would not want to do very good reading although I wish the book were a little longer.
Like Professor Elliott Brand, I have never been comfortable in deep water. Unless I'm on a cruise ship. Unfortunately, there is no cruise ship in this book. But lots of 'heart in your throat' moments.
Yet another page turner from the author! I am enjoying the series very much. Each adventure different from the last. Missed Ashra in this one but loved it just the same.
I liked this story, another adventure, another psycho, but very interesting equipment, prototypes, and another interesting archealogical find. Wish it was explored more, but there was no time.
Love this writer. He consistently tells a good story that is well written and interesting. Hard to put this book down. Look forward to more from this author.
