“Now that’s an awesome story.” -My Dad I read this out loud for all of my family to hear, I’d say it was wildly enjoyed. However i didn’t like the repetitive “But Horse and Cow and Goat and Pig and Lamb and Dog AND Mouse.” But since my dad liked it i’ll give it a 3. (It also had great illustration) * i’m not going to add this to my amount of books read this year- it was just a joke read.
Just like Hungry caterpillar, this could be a good read aloud to do with pre-k through 1st graders. While some predictions can be made, i would work this story a bit more towards sequencing events and working on beginning, middle, and end. Props could be made for the story and put in dramatic play area for the students to act out.
The black and white illustrations are not ideal for story time but the story is, rhyming, animals and the kids could help pull out the elephant The combined efforts of several animals can not pull an elephant from a well until a mouse adds his strength.
