Real fights almost always end up on the ground, where there's the ever-present danger of getting stomped, stabbed or worse. Animal shows you the necessary jerking, jabbing, gouging and biting nastiness you need to know to fight effectively once you're on the floor.
Another great Marc MacYoung book. The technical advice is great, and a fantastic antidote to current grappling fads despite being written before MMA and BJJ really hit their stride. More importantly, all the specific twist-like-this-and-hit-that advice is set in a broader context- not just "make sure his friend doesn't start dumping furniture on your head while you're wrestling", although that's there too, but big-picture stuff that helps you align your goals, lifestyle, and limitations with whatever brand of punchy-kicky you favor. And it's really funny. Hard to beat that.
What Mr. MacYoung never fails in crafting a vivid picture of reality, pulling you in and helping you both mentally and emotionally learn from bad events. I would recommend this book to anyone who's found themselves in a corner and knocked down. If and when it happens, it's scarier than hell...and you should have some good knowledge on what options you actually have, before it happens.
