"The writing is deft and smooth, and Fizz and Tam are a couple worth keeping an eye on" THE SUNDAY TIMES "Cleverly plotted...moves along at an enjoyably brisk pace" SUNDAY TELEGRAPH A Fizz & Buchanan Mystery Lawyer Tam Buchanan's cousin Mark, a GP, corners him with a desperate plea for help. His patient's four-year-old boy has been kidnapped, apparently by his father, and Mark opts to get Tam and his sleuthing partner, Fizz, on the case. Fizz soon realises that there is more to the boy's disappearance than meets the eye. The trail finally leads to a killer whose immunity is guaranteed by the kidnapped child and without putting the life of the boy at risk, there seems to be no way forward. Fizz and Tam find themselves walking on dangerously thin ice...

Took me a while to realise that Tam Buchanan was not very much older (early 30s) than the impulsive, intuitive and aptly named Fizz, as he seemed quite middle aged. They make a good contrasting pair of amateur sleuths - Tam's caution and play-by-the-rules lawyerishness is well tempered by Fizz's upbeat confidence and ability to pump people for information while appearing to be a bit of an ingenue.
