All Ronan Blake had ever wanted was to fit in. And if that wasn’t possible, he wanted to find a place where he felt at peace. But after killing his sister’s mate, that was never going to happen. Left with only one option, he flees west in hopes of finding a place where he can start over.
He could keep them safe.
There was no other option.
After the king had sent his forces to his family’s village, slaughtering everyone in their wake, Warren Slora was thrust into his father’s position. Alpha. And now he had to get the remnants of his pack to safety. A remote valley in the northern mountains, perhaps. Anywhere else and they’d meet the same fate as the rest of his pack.
She was a law unto herself.
She’d never give up her freedom.
After her mother died when she was young, Clara O’Donoghue did whatever she wanted. Her pa couldn’t tell her no. Or he couldn’t until she stepped into harm’s way. Now, forced into an arranged marriage she doesn’t want, Clara desperately searches for a way out.
I really liked this book. Altho i did want to slap the main characters sometimes. i did get a bit confused at the beginning mixing up the different pov's. I loved the action in the book. But the spice was a bit short and without really much foreplay.
The beginning was a little slow, but I believe that was needed for character development. Good plot twists and Interesting turns of events. Will be reading book 2.
This book was entertaining enough for me to read it over the course of a day and a half (would’ve been one day, but my darn kids kept needing things like “food” and “attention” 😝) I liked the fmc overall, and there’s one mmc that I liked better than the others. I have to say, I was a little torn. Because the fmc was indecisive and kept switching from “I could be happy” to “I hate this”. And then again, switching from “he makes me feel safe and I want to stay here” to “I hate him and I’m leaving as soon as possible”. I think a lot of her wanting to be with the different mmcs was more lust driven than anything else. I don’t know that she actually likes any of them, just the way they make her feel. I thought it was interesting how the author switched POVs, and that it also put a different twist on the same scene depending on whose POV it was. What one character thought was happiness, another thought was forced happiness, things like that. All in all, I’ll definitely read the second book when it comes out.
As for the spice level, I appreciate that this was pretty low spice. There were a couple of groping scenes, only one actually descriptive sex scene that was fairly short, and then one other sex scene that was barely descriptive at all, basically just letting the audience know that’s what they were doing lol. Some people like a lot of spice, but that’s not this book and that’s good for those of us who don’t want a lot.
I quickly got sucked into the Twisted Fates world!
We have marriage of convenience, forced proximity, a bit of reverse grumpy x sunshine, enemies to lovers, and touch her you die. What more can you ask for?
This is my first shifter dark romantasy since Twilight (not dark I know) growing up. I was so excited to dip my toes back into shifter novels and I wasn’t disappointed! I love Clara’s spit-fire, defiant, stubborn nature. We have 3 MMCs Matty (the golden retriever), Warren (a bit of a possessive alphahole with a tender heart), and Ronan (the wounded hero) and they all find their lives intertwined with Clara’s. In addition to some great character development (those back stories snd secrets?!) we get some spice. It’s not long but I think it really complimented the plot.
I cannot wait to see where book 2 goes because we definitely left off on a cliffhanger and I need to know what happens to Clara and who she ends up with!
Fmc Clara a human girl(or so she thinks) is closely guarded by her pa. He has decided what will come of her life and plans to marry her off to Matty, her childhood friend, whether she likes it or not.
Mmc Warren a shifter, alpha to his pack, can't get past Clara's sent and the fact that she is a possible mate.
Mmc Ronan another shifter that has been abused and mistreated by his father his whole life, decided he is going to have to get away if he is going to live.
Definitely can't wait to see where this story goes in book two.
I will say this book did stop abruptly, but luckily book two comes out soon
A new take on shifter romance. The cover alone had me so intrigued and then when I heard that it was a shifter romance (I don't read blurbs), it got bumped up in my TBR. Overall this was an enjoyable read, I just felt as if it was missing something. We get minimal backgrounds on the main characters, but as far as the overall world building and back story, it needed a bit more. The flow of the story treaded well, but did lean towards the slower side. I will say that the author did a good job creating characters that I easily connected with and other characters that made me want to punch.
A truly unique take on shifter romance. The book had me hooked from the start and I could not put it down. I finished it within a day. The FMC is outspoken, knows her own mind and is intelligent. Caught in a world where women have next to no power, Spaid ensured that her FMC was still a powerhouse to be reckoned with. It feels like I'm back in the early 2000s picking over team Edward or team Jacob, only the book is written with emotional maturity often lacking in this sub genre. The romance is dark and twisty with plenty of spice. The book ends on a few cliff hangers which have me chomping at the bit for the next in the series!
This was such a unique and engaging twist on a shifter love story! I thought the frontier town setting really enhanced the raw feeling of the book and the struggles the FMC had to deal with. She's equal parts timid and sassy and I was definitely rooting for her to get out of that arranged engagement! And the MMCs! You got a morally gray growly alpha male and a cinnamon roll who just wants to help people and loves his family. Well, his brother and sister anywhere.
Overall the story had very in depth world building and reads like a great start to what will be an epic series!
I really fell in love with this book. I’m a little biased because I love shifters and when you throw in dark romance 🥰🥰 the author is definitely speaking my language. Overall 4⭐️ 1.5 🌶️ but it is book 1. Multiple POV as for the FMC there is some back and forth on her decisions. But I have a feeling book 2 is going to be great 😊
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love where the story is going so far. The FMC is strong-willed and smart. A little bit of spice. Can't wait to grab the second book in the series!
What a unique storyline that draws you in and holds you. I love the mix of characters and each of their perspectives, the anticipation as their fates intertwine is divine. Can't wait for book 2!
This was so different from what I was expecting, in the best way - a very unique take on shifters and fated mates. I became so invested in these characters and their intertwining lives that I stayed up reading until an absolutely ridiculous hour. Looking forward to diving into the next one soon!
im gonna admit, i struggled with the beginning of this book - but im so happy i pushed through because i ended up devouring the series and i loved it!
you have to really pay attention in the beginning, there are so many names and places, its hard to keep up - but keep going and you will be rewarded. i absolutely despised warren for such a long time, but by the middle of the book i waited for his chapters every time we took a dive into the two other characters’ days. clara is a badass and ronan will have your heart in a tangle.
the book is a perfect example of why you dont judge a book - or a person - by its cover. please read it!
This book had me immediately hooked from the start. It was definitely an adventure and The shifters were awesome. I’m excited to see where book 2 goes.
