Billionaires call him the Patriarch. I'll call him Master.
Saxon Thornburg is known to the world as a reputable businessman, but I knew his true nature even before he kidnapped me, bared, bound, and punished me, and then shamefully ravaged me.
He is not just the billionaire boss of a powerful crime family. He is the Patriarch.
Women drop to their knees on command for him, but he chose me because I didn't surrender.
Until he took off his belt...
Publisher's Morally Gray includes spankings and rough, intense sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.
This book had such promise. I was so excited to read this book and loved the blurb. Dark, k!nky romance is definitely in my wheelhouse! Unfortunately, I was distracted with the stilted sentence structure and how quickly everything was happening. It felt more like insta-lust/love than any sort of push and pull over time, but that wasn't one of the tropes listed.
Also, this may just be me but, I was confused and thrown by the timeline and how it was arranged. The first 5 chapters were spent on this one, specific night and then chapter 6 jumps 2 months earlier. Then chapter 9 says two weeks later and I wasn't sure if it was 2 weeks later from the 2 months earlier or what since it's dual POV. It was too big of a distraction for me and took me longer than I liked to get into the flow of the story.
The spice was really hot. So it definitely delivers in the spicy category. I would have preferred if there was more development in their D/s relationship before they fell in love.
Overall I think this book was alright. I had way more issues with it than others who've read this, and that's okay. But if you don't have my issues or quirks then I think you'll really enjoy it!
Wow. Just... wow. Mind freaking blown. I wasn't completely sure what I was getting myself into when I started reading Morally Grey by Piper Stone but I quickly found myself so enthralled in this deliciously dark story that I couldn't focus on anything else. I was on the edge of my seat, breathless and craving more.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book. I will definitely be checking out the rest of the Author's works.
⚠️ Be sure to check the trigger warnings. This book is not for the faint-hearted.
Piper Stone has created a story of two people trying to deal with their own darkness and perhaps by being together they can create something that leads them towards the light and away from the darkness but they both have to accept their pasts and not everything or everyone is as they seem. Full of dark steaminess with betrayal and redemption you will certainly not want to put this book down.

A secret society of powerful, wealthy men indulging in their darkest desires. Genevieve—a reporter wanting to get inside to tell the story of her life. And Saxon—the Patriarch, leader of the Tempest, and soon also the owner of her body, soul, and heart.
"I'd always thought there was only darkness and light, good and bad, but I'd learned through him that morally gray was sometimes the only option for two completely damaged souls."
Saxon and Genevieve had me hooked from the very beginning. Both appear to have it all together but are broken on the inside, trying to forget about their inner demons while burying themselves in their work. However, once they're brought together, they realize there's much more they have in common, and sometimes all it takes to heal, is for one certain person to become truly yours.
"Perhaps the beautiful woman and I had more in common than she anticipated. What was it that I'd heard before? Oh, yes. Darkness begets darkness." —"Here's to the pitch-black world I'll soon be enjoying with my soulmate."
I felt towards the end it got a little rushed, but I still enjoyed all the twists and did not see half of them coming.
Even though it is a standalone and the story is complete, I could totally see another book playing in this world about a character that made quite the shocking entrance. 🤫
Morally Gray is a dark and spicy book, full of surprising twists and turns that keep you on edge throughout the entire read. Making you realize not everything good is actually good, and the best is sometimes hidden in the devil himself. 🖤
This is my first time reading a book from this author, and it had me on my knees after every chapter I couldn’t put it down! I absolutely loved every page of demanding & possessiveness Saxon gave! I mean for being the owner/leader of the organization Tempest & all the other businesses he was over, I wouldn’t expect anything less from this dark handsome man! Genevieve is a crimes reporter at a firm in Atlanta, she becomes very curious about this secret society called Tempest so she starts digging into it. She realizes after so many failed attempts at getting information that she needs to get invited to be in the next Sacrifice, which isn’t as easy as you may think. She is definitely intrigued by what is on the long questionnaire that is required, but nothing could prepare her for what Saxon the Patriarch has in store for her. This Sacrifice is where women are given to the highest bidder & bound to that man by a contract for 30 days, in that time frame she is to obey her master & submit to him. Saxon may be older than Genevieve, but the man does not show it when it comes to bedroom. Saxon also has a demons from his past just like she does, but together they can fulfill each others. Joseph shocked the hell out of me at the end & not to mention the surprise family freaking reunion with Maxim showing up, my jaw felt like it hit the floor with that one! The spice within this book is beyond hot & steamy, it was everything you want in a book with BDSM in it. This does have a happy ending, I could definitely read this book multiple times!
A riveting mafia read, drama and full of action, intense you’ll be captivated once you start reading I guarantee that this will one another Piper Stone book that you will start reading and will not be able to put it down until you discover what the final outcome will be for this simply marvellous read. Saxon Thornburg is a man that had a reputation that precedes him and as well as being a successful business man he is also known as the Patriarch, leader of the Tempest, this is a secret society of sorts that admits the rich and the powerful individuals in society regardless of whether their intents are good or bad.
She knows that some believe him to be the offspring of the very devil himself which of course is ridiculous but sometimes these fears and beliefs no matter how ridiculous they may actually be.
She wants to despise him however he has a say of finding his way through her barriers and she knows that he would ensure that no one and nothing ever harmed her whilst she was his but can she live in such an enclosed bubble or would she feel like she was going mad.
Read this simply wonderful book I guarantee that you will not put it down until you reach the end and discover the outcome.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
Let me start by saying I read a lot of Piper's books and was very excited to read Morally Gray but this one confused me. I loved the premise of the storyline a reporter Genevieve Salazar secretly trying to dig up information on an illusive and dangerous society called The Tempest and the identity of The Patriarch. Saxon Thornburg grandfather founded the society years ago where powerful men with sadistic desires fulfill their needs. The reign has been passed through the family where Saxon is now The Patriarch.
As I said I liked the premise of the storyline but it felt rushed and their connection ,insta-lust/love happened a little to fast. Then add in the storyline jumping back and forth between timelines and characters I had to keep pausing to figure out what was happening. It all was just a little confusing. They definitely had spice in the bedroom yet it felt all too easy and definitely an insta-lust/love vibe. I would of loved to see more build-up and character/story development before the insta-lust/love. I also felt like the ending was rushed. There was a lot of information given but no real follow-up if that makes since? Maybe even an epilogue to tie up the lose ending would of helped. Overall it was it was a good read and if your just looking for spice then this book will deliver.
I received an ARC through Booksprout an I'm voluntarily leaving my review.
This book comes with a trigger warning. Please heed the authors advice.
Having already read previous works by Piper Stone, I knew what to expect, to be enthralled in this wickedly, delicious, decadent, dark story.
Saxon and Genevieve come from different worlds, yet their darkness speaks to each other.
Saxon is dominant and possessive, Genevieve is sassy and fiery, and she pushes him like no other person has before. It’s no wonder they complement each other so well.
Saxon’s control, he wields like an iron fist, Genevieve submits to his carnal desires.
As they get to know each other, they each share their own truths, their demons, not dissimilar from each other, building that mutual trust and understanding, do they fulfil each others wants and needs.
As the story unfolds, lies are exposed, shocking truths are revealed, and in the end comes an unexpected yet bittersweet happily ever after.
From the beginning, Saxon was consumed by Genevieve. He could not satiate his need her. He took her on a journey, a sexual awakening, the likes of which she has never experienced. For those blazing hot bedroom scenes, including those BDSM elements, well, you will need a fan to stoke the flames because they were off the charts steamy and hotter than hot.
Highly recommend both the author and the book!
I received an ARC. Therefore, I am leaving a voluntary review.
This was quite the enjoyable read. What hooked me into reading it was the dark and sinister "secret society". This world-wide society is called the Tempest and has been a secret for many decades, but now, with the world wide web, can it remain a secret? Saxon, whose family down through the generations, has overseen this organization since its inception, is prepared to do whatever to ensure it remains a secret. Genevieve, a crime reporter, having heard about this organization online is determined to get the inside story. She believes getting this story will be her big break. Even though she is warned about trying to get a story it does not stop her – she is like a dog with a bone. She infiltrates the society – or so she thinks. What happens next is an immediate connection between two people, both victims of their family’s past. They should not work together as a couple, but their strong emotional connection, their passion, soon changes their dynamic. As their connection grows, it becomes apparent that someone is trying to bring down the Tempest Society, Saxon or both. This was quite the engaging read. The author quickly drew me into the bigger story. I really enjoyed it. Well written!.

I very much LIKED the MMC (Saxon Thornburg) and the FMC (Genevieve Salazar) of Morally Gray. I also liked their interaction and their ultimate blending as a couple. I totally DISLIKED the “villain” of the story as soon as he was introduced, and spent the rest of the book waiting for the story’s denouement to see his comeuppance (thank you Ms. Stone). Whether Ms. Stone wrote him that way, only she can say; however, the first half of the book was difficult for me to connect with, it took me several stops and starts to get to what I think was the “meat” of the story --- and then it was over!! It wasn’t the darkness of the matters discussed; it was the style of the writing of those matters which had me flummoxed. I realize that it was imperative to keep the reader guessing as to the “real” MMC, so that when he was finally revealed in full light (on the beach of a private Caribbean Island), the reader could celebrate the MMC’s shedding of his “shadow” self; thereby truly enjoying the couple’s HEA. Despite my problem with the first half of the book, I do recommend it. Ms. Stone’s stories are always a pleasure to read (even when I’m struggling with parts of it).

“Morally Gray” is a dark Mafia romance overflowing with the steamy connection between main characters Saxon and Genevieve. This story by Piper Stone has unexpected twists along with the expected ones.
Saxon is the head of a Mafia family and also the head of a secret organization that indulges in detailed, carefully orchestrated scenes of organized debauchery. When Genevieve meets him, it’s under false pretenses that she created. Does he know? Doesn’t he? The structure of the story is unusual, and I admit it took me a while to get into it because I was trying to figure out what was going on – and when. However, at some point I realized that I was involved in the plot and the characters, so it worked.
Genevieve and Saxon are mysterious characters in their own ways. As details are revealed about both, it’s obvious how different they are. Less obvious is the fact that they have a couple of important personality traits in common, particularly strength of will and unshakable determination. Please note that even if this author’s work is familiar to you, it’d be a good idea to pay attention to trigger warnings provided.

Genevieve is a report, who is looking for her breaking story. One day she stumbled upon a video about a secret society, and became obsessed with finding out more about it.
Saxon is the highest member of the secret society, the Patriarch of The Tempest. Saxon owns and runs an underground BDSM club, that has quarterly auction. Genevieve signed up to be auctioned off, and hopes to learn more.
I absolutely loved Saxon, he’s so morally gray, it’s amazing. I loved the relationship between the two main characters. It had me hooked, and wanting to know what was going to happen and if Genevieve finds what she’s looking for.
The timeline did get a bit confusing, as it jumps back and forth between current and the past. Overall, I would recommend this!
Includes - Enemies to lovers - Revenge - Secret society - Captive - Obsessed mmc - Touch her and 💀 - Spicy - Bdsm/ kink exploration - HEA
Wow, this book has the spice 🥵 I'm just getting started on my dark romance journey. This one has everything taboo and forbidden I love, with a good storyline that I couldn't stop reading.
Prologue- The Tempest. A secret society where privilege and depraved proclivities reign. No permanent location. No public rosters of members. A single man feeding dark, primal desires, twisting decency into a powerful game. The predator and the prey. The innocent and the damned. And the ceremony of the Sacrifice.
💋Genevieve💋
"I wanted to despise him, exposing his evil deeds to the world, but with every rough touch, every fiery kiss, and the lash of his belt, I was drawn into the deep abyss of his depraved sins."
"He might be the Devil, but if I wasn't careful, he would eventually lay claim to my heart."
🌶Saxon🌶
"Whether or not she had any idea yet, she was already mine. The thought was intense yet hadn’t driven the need back into its cage. Tonight, she would be given a full taste of what she was searching for."
⚠️Morally Gray is a standalone dark romance. It includes spankings and rough, intense sexual scenes⚠️
Genevieve is a reporter looking for her big break. When she comes across the Tempest, her curiosity is piqued, and she enters a video application for an auction. The Tempest is run by Saxon, a billionaire with seemingly no morals. He is mercurial, and enjoys the debauchery of his organization. He becomes obsessed with Genevieve the moment he sees her, and stalks her. When he purchases her, he will own her for the next thirty days, and she will have her story. Of course, things rarely work out as planned.
Genevieve grounds Saxon. He regains his humanity as he is redeemed. She has her own darkness. This book is darker than many of Ms. Stone's work. I liked it but I didn't love it. I had trouble getting into it at first, although it was worth going forward. Saxon and Genevieve get their happily ever after, after much angst and many twists and turns. The author loves to torment her characters, and to be honest, that's what I love about her. This one is worth the read, particularly for fans of the author and Gothic romances.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Genevieve – A determined reporter with a buried past looking for her next big break.
Saxon – A tortured soul set in believing he is a product of his environment and any feelings he was capable of having died long ago.
Together the burn hot and heal each other in ways neither of them knew was possible, giving them exactly what they never knew they needed. Who would have ever thought that finding someone to break/ break you would instead heal your already broken pieces.
Very primal kink centered in all the best ways, Piper takes you along for the hunt as Genevieve and Saxon learn that sometimes finding someone as broken as you is exactly what you need to start healing.
Great plot with well-timed twists that keep you guessing. Story starts in one place and takes you back to start the journey. Please check the trigger warnings, this is a dark romance that will not be suitable for all readers.

I think this book had a really good plot. I also really like the authors writing which is why I'm a little shocked about my feelings about this book. Overall the book was interesting. There was a lot of stuff happening which kept me a little entertained. It was just some stuff that happened that threw me off.
I felt like everything happened way too quickly but it also didn't. He becomes obsessed with her from the moment he sees her. Which leads to him becoming her master/owner at his own bdsm club. 3 or so days after he took her to his place something happens and they saying I love you😭 it happened WAY too fast and there was not enough time for them to actually build enough feelings for each other.
I had a hard time connecting to this characters ngl. I felt like they only had chemistry in the bedroom. BUT once they got in that bedroom sparks started flying. The spicy scenes were doing its thing 🤌
There was a lot of stuff happening and a lot of build up. But for some reason everything felt rushed towards the ending which just let me feeling like wtf just happened 💀
Piper Stone has done it again with Morally Gray. It is a dark romance full of kink and BDSM scenes. Tempest is a secret society made up of members who are wealthy men. Women are chosen through an application process. Later they are brought together and auctioned to these men for 30 days under a contract to participate. The Patriarch's name is Saxon Thornburg. Saxon's family has passed this organization down through the generations and wants to always keep it secret. Genevieve is a crime reporter and is one of the women to be bid on. She would like to get the inside story on the organization. So Genevieve is the last to be bid on, because she isn't like the others. Saxon and Genevieve both are broken from their past, so they use each other to heal. This book is full of action and drama and will absolutely hold your attention. A fantastic read one you will really enjoy.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
There is so much I want to say about this book, but I don’t want to spoil it! The FMC (Genevieve) is a strong and stubborn reporter. The MMC (Saxon)is seemingly sadistic, dangerous and domineering, and doesn’t think he can be anything else. Her curiosity leads her into a dark, dangerous, and k!nk¥ secret society, where Saxon is the patriarch. (This story dives into the world of BDSM, but not at an entry level.) I got sucked in and didn’t want to put it down. I was happy to have only had one moment where I could predict what was next. I will say that I expected it to be much darker. (Maybe it is and I’m just that messed up!) will she stay in his world or will he change his ways and try to fit into hers? Will I recommend? Absolutely! Will I continue to read if it becomes a series? Absolutely! I hope everyone else enjoys it as much as I did!
Overall: 5 of 5 stars Performance: 5 of 5 stars Story: 5 out of 5 stars Reviewed: 08-14-23
Saxon Thornburg, powerful, older, elusive and magnetic… Genevieve Salazar, a reporter with a burning desire to tell a story. When their worlds collide, there may not be any survivors…. Heated, forbidden, fast paced and engrossing, “Morally Gray” is fantastic! I … could … not … stop … listening! The writing is outstanding! The characters brilliantly and beautifully drawn and developed, the scene setting clear and easy to follow, the dialogue fabulously witty, emotional, and true to life, and the plot (no spoilers) riveting, brilliantly twisty with a reveal that dropped this listeners jaw! Brought to life by spectacularly clear, perfectly timed, perfectly paced, smooth as silk narration, “Morally Gray” is a five star winner in ALL categories. I loved it!
Morally Gray by Piper Stone is a Dark Mafia Billionaire Romance and the first book i've read by this author. But after reading this, it definitely won’t be the last, I really enjoyed the book. This has everything that I love… secret societies and dark romance mixed together to form this exciting, twists and turns of a book. I will say check your trigger warnings as it’s better to be safe than sorry.
This book is Genevieve and Saxon’s story. Oh boy what a ride this was… my heart broke for everything that Gen had been through with her past. Then there’s Sax who has a lucrative business that makes him a billionaire. Gen, being an investigative reporter, sees a video that brings her in line with Saxon. I loved all the pulse pounding moments that made me clutch my kindle. This was a great read! I recommend it!
The Tempest. A violent storm or uproar. Maybe an apt description considering what Genevieve has gotten herself into. One month of servitude in a secret society that's unlike any other.
"The Patriarch. He walked into the room and the dark desire I’d fought for years began to spiral out of control."
“ Un perfetto uccello non addestrato" "A perfect untrained bird."
Saxon, The Patriarch, all too willing to tame this little bird. And his ways are "Morally Gray" and everything Gen needs. This story had my heart utterly shattered for Gen and everything she's been through. Finding Sax may well have been her saving grace or maybe she was his. Either way their journey is captivating, surprising and completely consuming. This author never disappoints in bringing us an adventure that carries us on the wildest of rides!
The Tempest. A secret society handed down through a family. Dark, twisted, kinky. Saxon is the leader of the group and is trying to find something, anything to bring him back to life. Enter Genevieve, a reporter with a dark side. Looking for the truth and a big break. Their lives cross and she signs up to be a "sacrifice" for the Tempest to find out more about the group and also to help her find herself. Saxon knows who she is but still lets her into the ritual with a bit of added extras just for her. He is attracted to her and has decided she is his. Secrets, Betrayal, Family, Murder, Steam - this story has it all and for a Piper Stone book it has a bit more kink then I have read from her and I enjoyed it.

Trust is earned, but deceit pushes trust out the window.
Saxon learned early in life how not to truly trust. Genevieve had a dark past and she wanted to make a name for herself as a reporter. She decided that she wanted to do a story on the Tempest, a secret organization that provided a way for men and women proclivities. Saxon was the patriarch of the Tempest and he was responsible for his legitimate businesses as well. Genevieve was doing her research and was found out by Joseph who was the second in command to Saxon. Genevieve wanted to participate in the event and was given an invitation after Saxon saw her video. Genevieve grew up with an abusive father and this part of the story I was sad, but from her childhood she became a stronger young woman. Genevieve became Saxon light to his dark and she helped him in so many ways. I enjoyed reading Morally Gray.
First, please read the TW/CWs for “Morally Gray” by Piper Stone. Genevieve (FMC) has a traumatic past. She is damaged and broken. She is now an investigative reporter wanting her big break and pursuing to expose and write about a secret society involved with crime and heavy BD$m. She goes undercover and immerses herself in this world, where she meets Saxon (MMC). Author Piper Stone shows the character of Genevieve as she is working through her past trauma and grief and being “broken down” by Saxon with all the things they do together as she takes ownership instead of being further victimized by her past.
Morally Gray is dark, twisted, exciting, suspenseful, and morally gray! I sometimes clutched my Kindle as I flipped through the pages. What a wild ride!!

This book had me hooked from the very first chapters. The secrecy surrounding the Tempest is wonderfully intriguing and gripping. Saxon and Genevieve’s encounter is stirring and fascinating. As the story develops we discover the complexity of Saxons upbringing and how he’s unable to form tangible attachments, until he meets Genevieve with her strong determination and endearing personality. These characters share a strong and passionate connection that gives us a highly intense, engaging and inviting storyline.
Lose yourself in this slightly depraved, alluring and suspenseful romance with stunning characters and an enticing storyline
Congratulations Piper🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻Saxon and Genevieve’s story is deeply tantalizing and beautiful.

Wowser this book was hot, depraved, and "O" so worth reading and the characters just ooze a sexual delight. The Tempest is a very exclusive Secret Society / BDSM club for adults with the darkest desires. When Genevieve herd about The Tempest and what happens to the girls, the reporter in her wanted to do a story about it, something know one has ever done. Saxon is very protective with the Tempest it is his legacy, he has already shut down one reporter but when he sees her will he shut her down to, or will he show her a side of him for her to understand.

I started the book and like all of Piper Stone's books, it catches your attention and doesn't let you go. This is a dark storyline that takes you into the secret Men's society, The Tempest. Genevieve is an up-and-coming reporter who is looking for a big break hoping to find out more about the secret society. Saxon is the "highest" member of The Tempest who gets the information and questions from Genevieve. He ends up kidnapping Genevieve and finds that he wants more from her than for her to just forget about the secret society. It's fast-paced, dark, twisted, dangerous, spankings, domination, and super sizzling steam. Great read.

TRIGGER WARNING!! Saxon is “the Patriarch” of Tempest, a group of uber rich men that enjoy very dark kink. There are rules and when the rules are broken there is a stiff penalty to pay. Genivieve has been promoted to crime reporter but doesn’t have a story she can sink her teeth into. Until, she sees a video. She wants to investigate a secret organization involved in sexual crimes and maybe even murder. Genieve catches Saxon’s eye and the hunt is on. This book has is all about dark kink and is not for the light hearted. I recommend this book for those that like sadism and kink.
Morally Gray by Piper Stone is one heck of a read! A reporter with past trauma becomes intrigued by a video of a group that exploit women and sell them for one month of service during which time they cannot say no. Your brain and your fingers will be burned by the heat as you read each page! She is an exceptionally strong woman who turns the table on its’ head by using the Patriarch’s interest in her to heal herself of a past that has kept her trapped. The Patriarch is also a broken product of his past and uses the reporter to heal as well. I was on the edge of my seat until the very end of this story, never imagining the outcome! Grab this book off the shelf now!
