This book really brought home for me at an early age the story of Noah and the ark, and it is the pictures in this short volume that I still mentally conjure up when I think of the elements in the story.
What really stands out to me about this particular telling of the story, however, are the jaw-dropping illustrations of Charles E. Martin. I've known about his substantial drawing abilities for a while now, but this is by far the finest work of his that I have ever seen. There is one picture especially—a panorama of the three decks that comprise the ark's structure, complete with an overshot of all the animals and people—that REALLY wowed me. I mean, we're talking comparisons with immortals such as Robert Lawson, Holling Clancy Holling, and Garth Williams, here!
