Katariina Rosenblatt, LLM, PhD, is living proof of the promise she heard long ago at a Billy Graham crusade that God would never forsake her. Katariina has a PhD in conflict analysis and resolution and an LLM graduate law degree in intercultural human rights, and she works closely with law enforcement agencies such as the FBI and Homeland Security to eliminate human slavery. She also founded Stolen Ones--There Is H.O.P.E. For Me, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to freeing other victims of human trafficking. For more information, visit www.StolenOnes.com. She lives in Florida.
Katariina’s story is difficult to read, but her journey from unimaginable exploitation toward healing, faith, purpose, and ultimately helping other victims is deeply moving. What I appreciated most was learning about the ministries and organizations that can surround survivors with practical and spiritual support.
I didn’t need this memoir to be a great work of literature. I needed it to be a truthful, courageous account of one woman’s life—and it was.
Most of all, I came away reminded that God did not fail Katariina. He never failed her. Her circumstances were horrific, but the evil done to her was not evidence of God’s absence or abandonment. Her survival, healing, and eventual work with other victims became part of a redemption story she could never have imagined while she was living through the darkness.
4.5 stars. A painful testimony of evil, survival, faith, and redemption—and one that left me wanting to know what my own community is doing to help victims
