Will twelve chefs bring fame and fortune to Chincoteague Island and its restaurants, or will one jealous competitor bring infamy to them all? Holly Peterson, owner of the Sand and Sugar Café, is insecure about her abilities in the kitchen. Lorenzo D'Angelo feels unprepared to open his own restaurant, Speziato, on Chincoteague Island. Just as Holly and Lorenzo begin to have confidence in their eateries and themselves, celebrity chef, Gideon Randall, announces his new cooking reality show will take place on the island. Neighbor Vs. Neighbor will be a cooking show like no other, pitting all the chefs on the island against each other in a competition for TV's top prize in cooking - $300,000 and a year's worth of nationwide advertising during all Gideon's shows. As summer gets underway on Chincoteague, things heat up in the kitchen, at the resort where contestants are sequestered, and in the restaurants they've left behind. In a recipe that calls for the perfect combination of sugar and spice, sabotage becomes the main ingredient.
Amy has been writing novels, children’s books, and devotionals for almost ten years. In her novels, she brings to life characters who jump off the page with their true-to-life personalities and real world problems and concerns. Their lives center around family, friends, and faith. Her stories–though often fraught with peril–champion love, uphold community, and inspire hope. Amy’s writing has been hailed “a verbal masterpiece of art” (author Alexa Jacobs) and “Everything you want in a book” (Amazon).
A former librarian and teacher, she now lives on the Eastern Shore of Maryland with her husband, three daughters, and two dogs.
Amy Schisler’s new book, Seeking Sugar and Spice, combines two of my favorite things. Wonderful small-town Chincoteague and the thrill of a televised cooking competition. Part love story, part mystery, Seeking Sugar and Spice is mixed with plenty of ingredients for a sweet and spicy summer read. It pits insecure baker Holly Peterson against newcomer Lorenzo D’Angelo who wants to prove his small-town restaurant is every bit as good as his family’s eatery in Baltimore. There’s a great cast of characters, including a celebrity chef who expects these good-hearted people to be at each other’s throats. While they support one another, something evil is going on. One by one, restaurants of each of the contestants is vandalized. Lives are endangered. I particularly enjoyed the cooking competition scenes. A big Great British Baking Show fan, I enjoyed getting behind the scenes. Part of her Chincoteague Sunsets Trilogy, this book can easily be read on its own.
OMG! A cooking show being filmed on Chincoteague Island, a blooming romance (or two) between some of the chefs, sabotage and a wedding! I LOVED IT! Cannot wait to get to the island and pick up the third installment of this series (and possibly a few more titles by this author,
