A hot mess
I’ve read other books by Molly Black but this will be my last. The others were OK fun, but this reads like a really bad first draft that was desperately in need of an editor. It is repetitive (how many times do I have to read that her knuckles were white from gripping the steering wheel, or how the cold chilled her to her bones?$, was full of inconsistencies, contains leaps in continuity (a shattered car window is no longer shattered?), and defied logic. While Piper’s character is somewhat developed, not so the others. Her partner Wade is flat as a pancake. Maybe if Ms Black can slow her pace of delivering novels, she can instead focus on making the next one readable.
