Rosie Hunt is a British author of cozy mysteries both puzzling and historical. Her books include the Lady Felicity Quick mystery series set in the green and pleasant countryside of southwest England in the 1920s.

A history addict and former journalist, Rosie grew up immersed in the worlds of Poirot and Miss Marple. This early exposure to baffling murder mysteries rather coloured her outlook on life, and it was only a matter of time before she wrote her own.

Rosie loves clotted cream, knitting, and Golden Age crime fiction and never misses an opportunity to visit a National Trust property. She lives with her husband and their fluffy, four-pawed overlord on a river in Northern Europe.

I can feel and empathize with CiCi’s frustration as she tries to cover a story in a small insular fishing village. However while she’s may still be uncertain as to where her future ambitions will lead her nothing including elusive villagers and gregarious art enthusiasts will stop her from getting the scoop and the truth. Things pick up when Alex Cooper arrives and she’s got a bit of back up. CiCi’s wit, intelligence and determination serve her well in this latest investigation.
A bit of a slow start but once things get going it’s fast paced and full of surprises. I loved the juxtaposition of the villagers and the officious customs man. This was an exciting and clever mystery that had a very surprising culprit. Well written and transportive to another time and place. The town and the times come alive within the confines of the story. A truly enjoyable reading experience.
I received an ARC from the author. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

Murder on the Coast by Rosie Sandler is another Lady Felicity novel and as her friend and colleague asks, who would want to miss a Lady Felicity adventure? Cici has come to the coast of Devon, as a favor to her brother. Her hostess is the widow of a good friend of his, Mrs. Isabella Mountvernon and she is involved with the opening of an art gallery in this unlikely place. It is to be in a barn previously used for the building of ships. Fortunately, several famous artists are from the area and will draw patrons to the opening of the gallery. That is until, one of them ends up dead on the beach. And who is the lucky person to find the body? You guessed it...Lady Felicity, well, it was actually her dog, Pip. She is supposed to be covering a story, not investigating, but here she is. Alex, her colleague is covering another story and so she is to face this one alone. The biggest problem is that she is an outsider and none pf the fishing community will speak with her. It’s a conundrum.

Lady Felicity is a fabulous character: she lives in a time when women are just starting to make small inroads and, all things considered, her brother is very generous allowing her to work as a reporter for the family newspaper. She tries to live within his rules, but finds it impossible. She is perfect as a reporter as she is a born investigator. Eventually Alex shows up and he has some ideas about how to get someone in the fishing community to talk. This is a fairly high-suspense story for a novel of this genre: there is not only murder, but possibly forgery and certainly, smuggling, but not of fine wines and foodstuffs, but rather drugs. It is a community effort to keep community business to itself and causes no end of difficulty. Plus, neither of the law enforcement officers: local constable and Crown Customs and Excise enforcer, seem to be honest and above board. It is all quite confusing. Does Lady Felicity figure it out? Need you ask? An enticing read: good plot and excellent characters. Very English.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Murder on the Coast by the author. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #RosieHunt #MurderOnTheCoast

I really enjoy this series and in particular the main character Felicity. She is a strong-willed determined woman who is working as a journalist but always ends up in the middle of investigations.

This time, she is covering an art exhibition for the newspaper when an artist dies in what initially appears an accident but turns into a murder inquiry. Alex arrives and the pair set out to investigate. There is a lot of intrigue in this story. We have the added excitement of a customs officer on the scene investigating smuggling activities, as a direct contract to the bohemian artist characters, an ineffective local policeman and local characters in the fishing community who don't take too kindly to outsiders. It all adds up to a terrific read that had me gripped all the way through. The ending has me on tenterhooks for the next one.

My thanks to the author for a copy of this and this is my honest review.

Felicity is, once again, finding herself in the middle of a confusing mystery. She has gone to Ottermouth to report on the art scene there and also look after the widow of a friend of her brother's. When one of the artists washes up dead on the beach, the mystery is afoot and Lady Felicity sets out to solve it...though she is met with obstacles at every turn. No one is willing to talk to Lady Felicity - either among the artistic set or the extremely closed fishing community.

Nevertheless, Felicity is determined to investigate and solve the mystery. Along the way, her friend and fellow reporter, Alex, shows up to assist.

On the personal side, we continue to wonder if something more will develop between Alex and Felicity.

This was a wonderful cozy mystery and I highly recommend it. I received an advance copy and this is my honest review.

The fifth book in the Lady Felicity series is another fun, entertaining addition to the series. This time Felicity is covering a story for the newspaper in a picturesque fishing village Ottermouth. When Felicity discovers a body washed up on the shore she finds herself once again investigating a potential murder. Not all is what it seems in the fishing village as Felicity also stumbles upon a suspected drug-smuggling operation, a collection of paintings in an old boat shed and survives a near boat sinking. I received a free copy of this book from the author and write this review voluntarily. I thoroughly enjoyed this and look forward to more adventures with the lovable Lady Felicity (and her friend? partner? Alex). Readers who enjoy quick-paced mysteries featuring a strong female lead will not want to miss this series #RosieHunt #MurderOnTheCoast

Murder and drug smuggling in a sleepy fishing village make a complicated and intriguing mystery for Lady Felicity to untangle and solve. Alex turns up to give a hand but it is Felicity who does all the groundwork. There is so much for Felicity to work her way through including family secrets, lies, false confessions, drug smuggling and art forgery. There are quite a lot of side characters and any one of them could be involved in the shady goings on. The problem is the people of the village are unforthcoming with information.

Alex and Felicity have a nice friendship and I like how they back each other up. Their romance takes a slow-burn back seat to the investigation. However, the cliffhanger ending makes me want to read the next book right away to find out how they progress.

Is this really a safe assignment for Lady Felicity?

The widow of her brother’s wartime friend is financing an art show and sale of the work of local artists in the quiet seaside village and Lady Felicity is covering it for her brother’s newspaper. Discovering the body of one of the artists on the beach, she is astonished at the obvious feuding between the local policeman and the Customs and Excise Agent. Ever the sleuth, she finds the local community-and the lady she came to help- very difficult to deal with. Secrecy and outright hostility make this a very complicated and dangerous situation for her. Historically there is much of interest as the period is brought to life. Again, this is a fascinating new read in the series. I look forward eagerly to the next episode.

Lady Felicity does it again. And she had to fight hard to solve this one. With no one willing to talk it was tricky to find any real clues. But Lady Felicity is clever and therefore was able to figure things out. I did not figure it out until very close to the end.
Once again the whole thing with Alex was a bit topsy-turvy. Will the romance ever bloom? It was quite the cliff hanger ending to be sure. We'll have to wait for the next one to figure out what Alex was going to say. Looking forward to it.

This is a story full of secrets, lies, false confessions, drug smuggling and art forgery all in a small insular fishing village lots to keep Lady Felicity busy. There are quite a lot of secondary characters and any one of them could be the killer or involved in the other goings on which makes for a faced paced story. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Atmospheric setting, brilliantly portrayed.
Felicity reluctantly visits the seaside village to report on an art exhibition. A favour for her brother. She is trying to convince herself that all she wants to do is to be a reporter, but a cast of artists, secretive locals and finding a dead body changes that. Rosie Hunt brilliantly describes the rugged coast of Devon, in all its many moods.

Absolutely Delightful!

The combination of a gentle and elegant world with a grim and brutal one creates a brilliant read in which is a pleasure to get lost into. The attention to details and historical accuracy are a rare treat that need to be savoured slowly, shutting the modern world out for a while. A must read!

Lots of red herrings and fishy people in this absorbing cosy mystery! I just love Lady Felicity Quick and the voice Rosie Hunt gives her. She has a yearning to be known for her journalism skills, but her true calling is sleuthing. This seaside town and its secrets made for a fine story full of twists and turns. One of my favorites, even though there weren’t too many cups of tea.

I found the first half of the book boring. Once Alex got there it improved and the second half was pretty good with a nice twist.

Lady Felicity Quick's latest assignment - to report on an art exhibition in Ottermouth along the coast of deepest darkest Devon. Cici is convinced that this is going to be (yawn!) one of the most boring visits, after all, Ottermouth is a small fishing village, with fishermen families on one hand and bohemian artists on the other. But she did not bargain on a tight lipped community with a secret undercurrent of anger, revenge and nefarious doings.

Exciting and full of intrigue, as all of Rosie Hunt's mysteries are. I love how dogged Cici can be, even when the locals close ranks on her and yet, she manages to overcome that. Love the series, can hardly wait for the next one.

This is a cozy mystery set in the 1920s English seaside town of Ottermouth. Lady Felicity Quick, a journalist and a progressive female for the time investigates a murder that washes ashore, uncovering secrets among a cast of many characters. I found the story easy to read and very engaging. Definitely recommend it if you enjoy cozy mysteries!
