Okay um... yikes. Well that was a rollercoaster. Or should I say a steep downward descent???
To be honest, I knew what was coming. I didn't reaaaallly know when except for some minor ominous comments about the manhwa getting to that point soon (and since this volume falls within that timeline, it was clear it would be here) but I did know that it was coming. Zhenya is a big fucking monster at this point! I am reading it despite that because I have this vague sense of some kind of love or fluff coming by the end but damn was THE SCENE hard to read.
I was pondering why this was bothering me more than I expected because as much as it's not okay (and I will only tolerate this in the context of FICTION), this kind of progression and plot device is common in BL. And gosh knows that I have been through it in terms of my exposure. But I think it's because it stems from a complete lack of interest. I mean of course there's some interest on Zhenya's part because he'd been struggling (is that even the word I want to use here???) with his attraction to Taekjoo throughout this volume and the last but from Taekjoo there was none.
Caesar/Leewon and Ilay/Taeui are commonly compared against Zhenya/Taekjoo since the tops are all red to black flag blond (or silver in Ilay's case) killing machines with little moral compass and a stockholm syndrome like romance arc but after thinking it through, I think the reason why I like Caesar and Ilay much more is because at least there was some common ground.
Like in Caesar's case, Leewon was interested and actually being courted by Caesar until the incident. They were kind of in love or at least getting there. And for Ilay's, Taeui at least had some interest in him/was attracted to him a teensy bit (or at least his hands) and he was actually gay so he inclined that way to start. So see - common ground. But in Zhenya's case, there was none of that. Taekjoo didn't think much of him beyond a sense of danger or annoyance and he didn't like men at all! He made his preferences very clear several times! So it seems like much more of an invasion. Though AGAIN, this is in the context of fiction. This would never be okay in any other circumstance.
Anyways, although there was the bright spot of our brave but kind of stupid Taekjoo bouncing back and returning to his mission, this volume was more of a clench my teeth and bear it kind of volume. I can only hope that it will pave the way to better things!

Entendo totalmente o porque o Zhenya é constantemente comparado com o Caesar (e até mesmo o Ilay) mas sinceramente esse volume só mostrou que ele é bem pior que os dois. A diferença é justamente a questão do interesse romântico/sexual, já que o Zhenya estrupou o Taekju por impulso e com a intenção de humilhar/matar o Taekju, diferente dos outros dois que apesar dos pesares já estavam apaixonados pelos seus interesses românticos.
Não vou perder tempo falando do Zhenya ser o Psikh já que isso era óbvio desde o começo. Estou torcendo para ele levar uma lacrada bem dada do Taekju e no final estar rendido pelo meu queridissimo.
Ah, esse último round não foi vitória do Taekju já que o Zhenya estava esperando por ele na embaixada, mas valeu a tentativa...

The second book is way better than the first one omg. First of all Zhenya when I catch you omg. This bitch I hate him. What he did to my boy taekjo like ew ew ew. Taekjo is literally fighting to live like omg. I’m happy that zhenya didn’t put polonium 210 in taekjo but still, at this point like. The book is living Js on a cliffhanger like a really big one. I’m afraid for Taekjo like please not another raped scene. Even if I already know he’s getting raped again like 😭😭😭 live my boy alone. This book gave me so much question like who the fuxk wanted taekjo dead like. Give me a name and I’ll take care of it. Anyway can’t wait to read the third book.

WOW OSEA WOWOWOWOWOW ME ENCANTA SOY TAN FAN NO ME LO ESPERABA PARA NADAAAAAAAAA.
Osea yo era consciente de que zhenya formaba parte de alguna mafia por el tatuaje y la frase de "siempre debes revisar si lleva algún tatuaje porque probablemente es el logo de alguna mafia" Y ERA UNA PISTA PORQUE EL TIENE UNOOOO👹👹PERO YO NO ME ESPERABA QUE EL FUERA EL CREADOR SOLO PENSABA QUE QUERIA ROBARSELA AL PELIMORENOOOOOO.
Esq sigo en shock de como le tendió la trampa, de como consiguió que apalizara a su verdadero compañero Y COMO ZHENYA ERA EL TIPO PELIGROSO DEL QUE LE ADVERTIERON!!!

These volumes read so quickly considering they're light novels. But WOW this was so good so exciting and thrilling. I love how taekjoo declared war to Zhenya after everything he's done. I hope it doesn't bite him in the behind though. The ending was insanely exciting, too.

Got me suffering through it all... I can't believe what he did to poor Tae. I was expecting his background context already, but it doesn't erase anything at all. Nevertheless, I completely enjoyed the spy drama going on besides their relationship (if we call it that).

I like the ending of this volume and it surprisingly got interesting.
