In this powerful, spellbinding book, Peter Walker takes the reader on a guided tour through the backstreets and alleyways of Jerusalem as he documents the dramatic events of the last days of Jesus' life. Using maps, drawings, and color photographs, Walker constructs a myriad of evocative detail that becomes, in the end, a compelling defense of the biblical account of the crucifixion and resurrection.
This is a great review of the weekend of Jesus's death and resurrection. Mr. Walker reviews the historical setting and covers the events as related in the gospels. He then reviews the common arguments against the resurrection and shows that is the most likely outcome.
The book then becomes a history of Jerusalem and the site of the resurrection. He presents the history of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the arguments for that as the site of the burial of Jesus. Next, he reviews the history of the Garden Tomb and the arguments for that location as the site of Jesus' burial. He finishes the book with his conclusions.
Mr. Walker has written a clear and impartial book.
This book was a truly fascinating read. It takes you through the events leading up to Jesus’ death all the way to the Resurrection( this is Part 1 and the story from all four gospels is tied together in a way that is easy to follow chronologically) Part 2 is all about the location of the tomb, archaeology, and lots of research. I got bogged down a bit by those details and if you do too, simply skip to the Conclusion section at the end of chapter 7 for an overview. Part 3 goes into the Significance of the Resurrection and is well worth the read.
